Explain that many years after Lehi and his family left Jerusalem, a wicked man named Noah became king ofthe Nephites. King Noah was a bad king and taught the Nephite people to be sinful.

The Lord sent a prophet named Abinadi to preach to the Nephites. Abinadi told the Nephites that theyand their king were wicked and that Heavenly Father wanted them to repent. The king and the peoplewere mad at Abinadi and Abinadi had to go into hiding and come back with a disguise.

King Noah was angry with Abinadi and had him arrested and bound with rope. Abinadi was then broughtbefore wicked King Noah and his priests. Abinadi taught them Jesus Christs teachings and the TenCommandments. They did not want to listen, but the Lord blessed Abinadi to shine and look bright, and noone could harm him until he bore his testimony that he was commanded to share. Abinadi told them thatthese teachings were true. King Noah and most of the priests refused to believe Abinadis words. They didnot want to repent of their wickedness. Instead, they wanted to kill Abinadi.

One of the priests, named Alma, believed Abinadi. The Holy Ghost let Alma know that Abinadi was tellingthe truth. Alma begged King Noah to let Abinadi go. Almas plea made King Noah even more angry. Heordered Alma to leave. Then he sent his servants to kill Alma. But Alma escaped from King Noahs servantsand hid. Alma stayed hidden and safe for many days. When Abinadi finished telling King Noah what he had

been commanded to say, King Noah had Abinadi killed by fire.

While Alma was hiding, he wrote down the teachings that Abinadi had taught. Alma knew these teachingswere true. He repented of all his sins and began to obey the commandments. Alma became a greatmissionary by sharing the truths he knew with others.

Tomato Seeds

When Adam got to the car that Sunday after Primary he had a big smile on his face.Look Mom and Dad. Look what I got in Primary today! I have my own seeds.

SHOW PACKET OF SEEDS

My teacher told me that we could plant them and watch them grow. After you plant them you have totake really good care of them and then, after a long time, we can have tomatoes.

Why did Sister Tippets want you to grow tomatoes? Dad asked.

Sister Tippets told us its like planting a testimony seed. She said if we watched our vegetables growand learned how to take care of them, it would also teach us about growing our testimonies. She also saysthat when our vegetables are ripe, we need to bring some to share with the class, Adam eagerly answered.

He continued, Can you help me to plant and take care of my seeds?

Pretty soon, the whole family was pitching in to help Adam.

Dad helped prepare the soil.

Even though it was hard work, everyone helped Adam like they had promised and all summer long Adamwatched his tomato plant grow. First they were little yellow blossoms, then tiny green tomatoes thatgrew and finally turned red. Once day he picked a whole basket of juicy, red tomatoes.

Adam took his tomatoes to class. He told his teacher and his class how he learned to grow tomatoes andhow his family had helped him.

Adam had learned that to grow tomatoes you had to prepare the soil, plant the send, weed, and water

them. And still, that wasnt enough. If the tomatoes were to last very long, they had to be carefullybottled. Most of all he learned that testimonies, like tomatoes, needed to be carefully cared for if theywere to grow. And the best way to grow a testimony was just like he grew tomatoes with the help ofhis family and friend.

Why do I need a testimony?When you have a testimony, you know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. In the scriptures, we aretold that one of the blessings of the gospel is protection from sin like wearing armor to protect yourbody.

A testimony of the gospel means that we talk to Heavenly Father in prayer. We get to knowHeavenly Father and learn that he listens to us and speaks to us. Knowing that Heavenly Fatherloves us helps us feel close to him.

will help protect our physical body.

Activity

Buy tomatoe seed, soil and a small peete starter box to plant your tomatoe seed in. Plant a tomatoeplant with your child while talking about testimonies and what they need to grow. Place the plant inyour childs room and help them to remember to water their plant every morning.
