LITERATURE REVIEW
DESIGN
Design is usually considered in arts, engineering, architecturaland other creative works. The good method of designing is toconsider all important things during architectural design.
For proper design, the following will be considered;i. Ventilation
ii. Economic
iii. Privacy
iv. Maximum utilization spacev. Access to the space
vi. North and south direction

DESIGN OF BUILDING
Design of the building mostly depends upon the need of the
client. There are several factors to consider during
architectural design
i. Land area available
ii. Building character(nature of use)
iii. Funds and resources available
iv. Availability of building materialsv. Scope of future extension if any
vi. Climatic condition

ARCHITECTURE
Architecture is an art and science of designing building and otherstructure. The term architecture also refers to the process, profession or documentation.
As a process, architecture is the activity of designing and constructingbuilding and other physical structures by a person or computerprimarily to provide shelter.
As profession, architecture is the role of the person or machine toprovide architectural services.
As documentation, architecture based on drawings, structure andbehaviour of any kind of building that is to be constructed andproviding shelter and special needs by group of people such asschools, business, family etc.

BUILDING PLANNING
Building plan is an art of arranging various parts of building on
every floor with respect to the architectural engineering.
The main objective of planning are;
To make best use of space,
To keep good architectural appearance,
To provide comfortable parts of a building,
To construct strong and durable building at minimum cost.

DATA COLLECTION
For the drawing to be designed, the detail
survey should be conducted, the detail survey
consists of;
1. Dimensions of the site
2. Number of student to be registered
3. Number of staffs to be employed
7/30/2019 Abubakar t. Mohamed Pre.
15/24
DATA COLECTED
DIMENSIONS OF THE SITE
Area of the school = 2500023000
=575,000,000mm2
Measuring tape was used since the area is in rectangular
form.
LENGTH(mm) WIDTH(mm) AREA(mm)
25000 23000 575,000,000mm2

DATA COLLECTED
STUDENTS TO BE REGISTERED
At the first time, 60 students will beregistered, this helps in the proper design of
classrooms for now and future populationincrease.
NUMBER OF STAFFS
Number of staffs to be employed are 12, thisalso helps in the proper design of thestaffrooms.

SCHOOL COMPONENTS
i. Classrooms
ii. Offices: Head master and staffroom offices
iii. Storesiv. Toilets: teachers and students toilets
v. Workshops: carpentry and electrical
workshopsvi. Watchman house

DATA ANALYSIS
WINDOWS
According to the building by-laws the minimum window area
should be 0.1 of the room floor area.
Thus; Area of one classroom = 6.4m6.5m = 41.6m2
Size of the classroom =41.6m20.1
=4.16m2
Hence the design size for the window for each classroom is
2000mm1500mm. Each classroom will has two windows of
this size.
7/30/2019 Abubakar t. Mohamed Pre.
20/24
DATA ANALYSIS CONT.
As stated from Neufert that height of the
window breast from the ground 0.9m, so
the design height for the window breast of the
school is 1m.
7/30/2019 Abubakar t. Mohamed Pre.
21/24
DESIGN OF STAIRS
Riser height to used is 190mm
Height of riser = 3.8/2 = 1.9m
Number of riser = 1900/190 = 10
Exact size of riser = 1900/10 = 190mm Number of treads = 10 1 = 9
Size of going = staircase length/number of treads
=2600/9
= 289mm
Pitch angle, tan = Riser/Going
=190/288 = 0.659722222
7/30/2019 Abubakar t. Mohamed Pre.
22/24
DESIGN OF STAIR
= tan (0.659722222)
Therefore pitch angle, = 33
