Actix VisionSystemize Continuous vs project based

Take a subset (20%) of information from across the network – Drop full end to end message –

focus on RRC messages + RAN AP (Cause codes)

– RNC (250 sectors) for 15 minutes ~600 Mbytes – Mbytes

Always on data source

Dive down into detailed project based optimization

Call Trace ManagementThe Challenge Operators are struggling to

systemize their use of Call Trace data - it remains a narrow troubleshooting tool used by a few experts:

Lack of scalable systems to support the high volumes of data generated by Call Trace prevents continuous data collection

Inability GEO locate Call Trace data means that all statistics are defined at a sector level only.

The inability to collate Call Trace data with other sources such as Performance Management, Faults and Drive Survey data.

3. Difficulty providing end to end view of network.

1. Manual loading and analysis of Call Trace DataLack of GEO LocationNetwork configuration data needs to be found

2. Expert Engineers use individually traces and then discard results when finished. No GEO LocationNo data or expertise sharing.

GPEH Overview General Performance Event Handling

(GPEH) function handles the management and collection of predefined events in the WCDMA RAN.

There are two types of events: Node-internal events - are events produced within the

RNC, due to a specific condition, for example the detection of missing neighbours, Compressed Mode activation.

Inter-node events (protocol events, layer 3 messages) - are protocol messages sent or received from UE, RBS, RNC. These being a subset of RRC, NBAP, RANAP, RNSAP protocols

Depending on what events are collected a single switch (250 sites) can generate between 6MBytes and 150MBytes every 15 minutes

Page 26: ActixOne Call Trace Management Detail 25th March 2009 DRAFT

Uses of GPEH Data Neighbor analysis

– Missing neighbor analysis– Existing neighbor analysis – Detection of Iur issues– Inter frequency analysis.

IRAT HO Analysis– Compressed Mode Activities– HO performance

RF performance & Radio Quality analysis– EcNo vs RSCP charts– Pilot Pollution– Other2Own Cell interference (DL)– SIR- Error, Transmitted CodePower,

UL interference– EcNo initial value, from RRC

request message Capacity Analysis

– DL power information analysis– Admission control analysis – DL channelization code allocation

analysis

HSPA Analysis– HS Cell change analysis – Average and Maximum HS user

analysis – Not defined Cell change

Neighbour analysis Connection Analysis

– Connection replay– Connection signalling

visualisation– RRC connection Metrics – Connection Metrics– Support for RRC, RAB message,

if logged in the file Network Trending

– Periodic KPI collection of network elements using GPEH
