5.2 Standard arrival route (STAR)
The STAR description is composed of a flight route associated with a
flight profile including flight level and speed restrictions. Clearances
issued from ATC units can refer to these STAR.
In this case:
- the route segment of this STAR will be considered as a clearance,
- the flight level and speed restrictions are only information which
enable the pilot to plan the probable descent profile,
- all flight level change must be covered by an explicit clearance issued
on pilot request or initiated by the appropriate ATS unit,
- unless otherwise cleared, the pilot will fly his descent path to comply
with the flight level and speed restrictions specified in the STAR des-
cription,
- in case of heading alteration in radar guidance when flying a STAR,
the pilot will apply the flight level and speed restrictions on the new
flight path, at equivalent distances from the reference radio facility.
RNAV STAR are protected for all sensors (VOR/DME, DME/DME and
GNSS). VOR/DME used as reference is indicated for each route. The
equipment usually required for the use of specific RNAV instrument
arrival procedure (STAR) is a P/RNAV equipment. Nevertheless air-
craft non equipped P/RNAV but equipped B/RNAV complying with the
specifications about navigation in terminal area could perform these
arrivals under certain technical (see GEN 1.5) and operational condi-
tions listed below:
- follow RNAV route till the IAF,
- over IAF perform an approach under conventional navigation or com-
ply with radar guidance.
Aircraft “NON RNAV in terminal area” must perform conventional
STAR or have a radar guidance.

5.3 Standard instrument departure route (SID)
The SID description is composed of a flight route associated with a
flight profile including flight level, flight path angle and speed restric-
tions.
Except for safety purposes or opposite clearance, pilots are required to
follow the SID paths strictly.
Clearances issued by ATC services are based on these SID.
In this case:
- a SID can only be performed after a take off clearance has been
issued,
- the SID route segment, flight level, flight path angle and speed restric-
tions will be considered as a clearance,
- unless otherwise cleared, the pilot will comply with all the flight restric-
tions specified in the SID description,
- in case of heading alteration in radar guidance during SID following
the pilot will apply the flight level and speed restrictions on the new
flight path, at equivalent distances from the reference radio facility.
RNAV SID are protected for all sensors (reference VOR/DME LSE,
DME/DME and GNSS). The equipment usually required for the use of
RNAV standard instrument departure procedure (SID) is a P/RNAV
equipment. Nevertheless aircraft non equipped P/RNAV but equipped
B/RNAV complying with the specifications about navigation in terminal
area can perform these departures under certain technical (see GEN
1.5) and operational conditions listed below:
- after take off and up to 2500 ft proceed under conventional naviga-
tion,
- above 2500 ft follow SID RNAV.
Aircraft non able to use SID RNAV (see AD2 LFLL SID RNAV 1) must
announce ”NON RNAV in terminal area” when they request start-up in
order or to have a radar guidance after the initial departure or to have a
conventional departure.
If either one or several SID restrictions cannot be complied with, the
pilot will immediately report to the appropriate ATS unit.
In order to facilitate flight plan processing, users are invited to plan
directly the requested flight level, even if it is a flight level in upper airs-
pace, without any mention of intermediate level.
Takeoff RWY 18R will be performed from TWY A3 (2900m) except on
request from captain justif ied by special condit ion (wet
RWY, weight limitation, etc...).
Departure clearance can be obtained by data-link (DCL). Comply with
conditions described in ENR 1.5 C paragraph 3.2 .
6 OPERATING RWY IN USE 18R FOR LANDING
During landing operations on RWY 18R at LYON SAINT EXUPERY
aerodrome, the RNAV (GNSS) 18R approach procedure shall be pre-
ferred and will be announced via a message broadcast on the ATIS. If
unable to perform RNP APCH, the pilot should say «unable RNAV
18R» on first contact with LYON approach so as to receive vectors for
the VOR approach RWY 18R.

only if he thinks that it is required for flight safety reasons.
Derogations for rules defined by the first article of this order can be
exceptionally granted by the Minister responsible for civil aviation.
2 LANDING PROCEDURES
For ILS approaches, in order to reduce noise nuisances, pilots must fly
their approach so as to maintain the last altitude assigned by ATC ser-
vices until intercepting the ILS glide slope. After intercepting the ILS
glide slope, the final approach must be carried out so as not to fly
below this glide slope.

3 VISUAL APPROACHES
In order to reduce noise nuisances, the visual approaches are prohibi-
ted except for safety or medical emergency reasons.
4 SHIFTING FROM A RWY TO THE PARALLED RWY
Shifting from a runway to the parallel runway may be initiated by ATC
or requested by the pilot, provided that the aircraft is aligned on the
final approach course and is at a distance less than 10 NM from the
runway threshold.
5 DEPARTURES
The nuisance reduction objectives selected on LYON SAINT EXUPERY
aerodrome are to provide a noise reduction in the farthest sectors,
beyond the runway end. Thus, aircraft shall use the appropriate clim-
bing configuration and power setting. (Ref. ICAO PANS OPS 8168
VOL 1).
After taking off and for all aircraft, the initial climbing path shall be
flown, according to the specific operational standards for each aircraft,
so as to reach the altitude of 4000 ft AMSL (3000 ft AAL) as quickly as
possible.
Propeller SIDs (see AD2 LFLL SID CONV 3 and 4 charts) may be only
used by piston engine aircraft or turbo-prop aircraft. They are prohibi-
ted from 2200 to 0600 (off-blocks local time).
For all aircraft, SIDs have been defined in order to reduce noise nui-
sances, and must be observed by pilots (ref 5.3 above).
6 TRAINING AND CHECK FLIGHTS
Reserved for radio-equipped aircraft, training and check flights are pos-
sible from Monday to Friday, only upon authorization.
The appropriate requests are to be addressed to: Service de la
Navigation Aérienne Centre-Est, 630 rue d’Allemagne, BP 604, 69125
LYON SAINT EXUPERY AEROPORT, with a 48-hour prior notice.
Only the authorizations strictly necessary for aerodrome use will be
granted. Maneuvers shall be carried out, with a view to reduce noise
nuisances to a minimum and avoid the urban areas. Standard noise
abatement procedures must be applied when going around. Low altitu-
de circuit patterns are prohibited.
7 ENGINE TESTS
"Engine test" means any operation carried out on stationary aircraft
with its engines running either for more than 5 minutes or at a power
more than those used for starting and taxiing sequences.
Prior agreement of air traff ic services through telephone
(04.82.90.92.75) or radio (Ground Frequency 121.825) is required
before any engine test. These services will notify the location where
tests are possible, as also the aircraft orientation to be observed. A lis-
tening watch on Ground Frequency shall be maintained by the team in
charge of the aircraft during all the test duration, except otherwise spe-
cified by the Control Tower. The aircraft operator is responsible, during
all the test duration, for checking that no damage may be caused by
the blast of jet engine or propellers.

Radar vectoring, apply STAR restriction:
at D 45 LSE FL 140 MAX and IAS MAX 250 kt, at D 29 LSE IAS MAX 220 kt,
except for arrivals to IAF TALAR at D 40 LSE, FL 120 MAX and IAS MAX
250 kt.
UNAVAILABILITY OF VOR OR DME LSE
If VOR or DME LSE is unserviceable, use alternative holdings ARBON, TALAR
and RUNOM defined on VOR/DME LTP, and comply with CTL instructions to
join ILS or LLZ/DME procedure depending on QFU.
Missed APCH 18L: Climb straight ahead 2500 ft, minimal slope gradient of 5%
and comply with ATC instructions. In case of impossibility to maintain the slope
gradient of 5%, climb straight ahead up to 3000 ft.
UNAVAILABILITY OF VOR OR DME LTP
If VOR or DME LTP is unserviceable, use alternative holding GOMET defined
on VOR/DME LSE, and comply with CTL instructions to join ILS or LLZ/DME
procedure depending on QFU.
RADIOCOMMUNICATION FAILURE
- Squawk 7600
- Follow or join the STAR assigned or, failing that, the nearest one.
- Proceed over IAF at last assigned acknowledged FL if this one is usable in the
holding pattern, or, for lack of this, at the upper level of the holding stack.
- Perform holding pattern until the latest of the following times:
- EAT,
- Arrival time in the pattern plus 10 minutes,
- Then descend in the holding stack towards the FL noted on IAC in accordance
with the procedure in use (ex: FL 070, FL 080, FL 100).
- Leave IAF and perform the approach procedure.
RADIOCOMMUNICATION FAILURE FOLLOWED BY A MISSED APPROACH
PROCEDURE
- Comply with the missed approach procedure described on IAC, then perform a
new APCH.
- If this second attempt is followed by a new missed approach, divert towards
the AD stated in FPL climbing up to minimum enroute safety altitude.
