P. S. A Note From Nathan

Hi! Boy, am I getting around now. I have such fun emptying bookcases, garbage cans, drawers and sorting Mommy's laundry. I don't know why she looks at me the way she doeswhen I'm thru. She should be glad I'm quiet. I clean her floors too, because 1 like to eateverything but I'm still too slow to catch those juicy lizards and cockroaches. 1 didn't feelgood and had lots of red dots on me for Christmas morning. Lots of kids had those dots andI didn't want to be left out. Well, I must go and find some more T-R-O-U-B-L-E toget into. (Daddy says I'm good at that) Bye - Bye.

Nathan Addlcman A special thanks to all the friends of Good News Mission who have so faithfully supportedthe work in Mayaguez through prayer and financial support in 1973. Many have made an extra

A 1973 yearly financial statement will be sent to the supporting congregations and individuals and is available uponrequest to anyone else. Please feel free to iask; any other questions concerning the work in Mayaguez and we will try toanswer them. The slides and cassettes are available for you to shov/ to your church group or for personal viewing. TheMissionary Convention was very informative and we hope to pass on some of this information to you.

We appreciate the many inquiries concerning the Clinton work. A former restaurant banquet is our meeting place in -stead of our home and the Rec. Center and a property is being purchased for future building. Please keep the Clintoneffort in your prayers. God has blessed us and we keep busy.

Nathan will celebrate his FIRST birthday February 13 -- sure he would enjoy a card to chew on.God bless each and every one of you for your continued concern for the Addlemans and as you labor for our Lord in

FORWARDING AGENTS:

DR. AND MRS. NEAL K. CLAPP, P.O. BOX 88. CLINTON, TENN. 37716

JUNE, 1974Dear Friends,

"We give thanks to God for you all and pray God the Father might give you rich blessings and peace - filled heartsand minds."

We wanted to make sure we got off this letter to you before things become hectic here. We just received wordfrom our landlord that he will be returning to Mayaguez and wants us to occupy his house in June so we musthurry and find a new abode. We may be too choosy but Dianne would like a house with a fenced yard or carport to"cage" Nathan and we also need a nice long carport for worship services. The devil has worked overtime in preventingus from finding a building that would be available every Lord's Day, so now we are meeting at our house, which issmaller than John and Mary's old house. At least we always appear to have a large crowd each Sunday, in ourcramped quarters. John and Mary have moved and now are about two minutes away. Living on this side of townsaves them a lot of gasoline. (Regular gas is 55.9 here) Until we get a new street address, write to us at P.O.Box 2684, Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

We finally have^our new Spanish hyrabooks so Dianne won'thave to mimeograph songs anymore and Sra. Hernandez (Nelsonsmother) is in her glory. You should have seen her eyes light up onGood Friday, when we passed out the new books. So far, she is theonly one (excluding children) of our group who speaks no English ^whatsoever. Sermons are translated, by the way. Terry hopes to be

Sra. Hernandez has accepted Christ as her Savior, since we ^last wrote. When she came up out of the water'-of baptism she said, ^

in Christ!" We admire and respect her so much and she practicallymemorized the whole New Testament already. This week herdaughter and family arrive from New York and she has faith that they \

We appreciate your prayers for Mrs. Vasallo, whom we mentionedin our last letter. She and her two grand daughters worship with usfaithfully, each week. Her daughter, Jenny, is also being taught intheir home and is showing much interest in the Gospel. Keep thesetwo in your prayers. We feel confident that soon they will accept Christ as their Savior. Another couple that are close tomaking that step are the Plazas —Drubi andBebi. They have three children.

With all these children, we were forced to add an additional Bible school class. So Dianne has the nursery (with 3/ one year olds meeting in our bedroom). Mary has the pre—school class in Nathans bedroom. Carmen Lopez has the

primaries in Terrys' office. AndTerryand John alternate teaching the teen—age "Life of Christ" class in the carport. The adult worship is in the living room. As you see we need every available space.

We had a wonderful surprise on April 6th, when brother Bill Loft drove up with four tired, hungry, girls (a quartet)from Ozark Bible College. This was their week of Evangelism and we're so glad and thankful they decided to shareChrist Message in song, with us Puerto Ricans. I think the neighbors enjoyed it too. Speaking of neighbors —Terryoften talks with our neighbor and gave him a new Testament. Later, the man told Dianne he was really enjoying the^'book" Terry gave him. He was showing all the neighbor ladies his new book. Terry had wrongfully assumed theman knew the "New Testament" was the "Bible". We must learn to never assume anything.

We are sorry to tell you our teen-age friend Luis Lugo has left Puerto Rico. He has moved to New Jersey to live withhis mother. We hear from him often and it seems he's having a real ti.me learning English and getting used to the coldweather.

Easter Sunday was a real Christian family day. After Worship we had a pitch-in dinner and again enjoyed all thedifferent variety of international foods.

We might close by mentioning there are now over 240 families enrolled in the Bible Correspondence course. We mightalso add that Bible Studies during the week are still held in each church family home.

Please continue to keep us all in your prayers and join us in praising God for His bountiful blessings to us here.

In Christian Love,

I'l'rrx, Dianne, and Nathan

P.S. A Note fron Nathan

Hola! I already know what that means— "Hello". I'm learning all kinds of new thingsbut some Mommy and Daddy aren't always happy about. I can even chase the neighborhood petroosters and pet chickens. I like to play outside with my Spanish friends so I'mreally getting brown, like them, but I'll never pass for a Puerto Rican, with my yellow hair.Come and visit us sometime. Adios, from Nathan. (That's ByeBye)

Note from

VllliHiHHHIIHIIil^HI We thank God that since receipt of this newsletter that a home has been provided forthe Addlemans' . It has a carport that has been made into a room —perfect for church

services. The living—dining area (one room) connects to the carport which can also give additional space. They willhave to furnish their own appliances but the cost is the same as the previous house.

God is providing all the needs of the mission. Even though we have only $650 committed and need $875 to $900 amonth to meet our obligations—God is continuing to provide this in many wonderful ways. We just thank each of you foryour letters for Terry and Dianne and to us expressing concern for the work in Mayaguez.

We also want to thank mar^y of you who have expressed interest in the new work here in Clinton and have added us toyour prayer list. The congregation had its first evangelistic meeting in April. There were thirteen decisions ( 6baptisms, 3 transfers, 4 rededications) during the meeting and the ten weeks prior to the meeting. God has richlyblessed all of us. Praise His Name!

FORWARDING AGENTS:

DR. AND MRS. NEAL K. CLAPP, P.O. BOX 88. CLINTON, TENN, 37716

SEPTEMBER, 1974

Dear Christian Friends,What a tremendous blessing these past few months have been for us. Thank you all so very much for your prayers. The

Lord's workhere is growing and thelistof prospects is growing so much that we hardly have time for meals and preparing Biblelessons for Sunday. Buthow great it is to be busy and it's encouraging too. Although the Atkin family has gone back to NorthCarolina and the Mo's will be leaving soonfor the states and the Chevrez family wiU be moving to San Juan within the next fewmonths, thereare more new Christiansto take their places here.

We are enjoying our new home so much.It was a real answer to prayer. Terry was - "MIP'Sabout to close the deal on another house (al-though it was unsuitable for Sunday services) ' •' ^when Dianne and Nathan found this house for • •

rent while taking a walk. The carport room isholding the 50-60 which meet each Sunday

soon be expanding to theliving room. now have sign on the frontof the house- 'Iglesia de Crlsto' (Church of Ml sChrist), and the day after it was up a boy |stopped in to ask, "W^at is the Church of -::SSSChrist?". Terry has preached inSpanish severaltimes but it takes a lot of preparation time. VOur twenty-three children sang some of their

songs for the congregation week ^B|BBl^il^^^^^^HPlB»^and sure did inspire us with their enthusi-

They even sang, a song inTerry and John have about seventeen ^

r^lar weekly Bible studies in the homesChristians and prospects, which keep thembusy - almost too busy to do the evangelismthey would like to You pray thatthe Lord would send us a co-worker. But nowlet us tell you about some of ournewest Christians. Senora Hernandez' grandson, Eddie Chevrez, was baptized after much prayerbecause his mother refused to permit it at first. Eddie now helps teach "Grandma." TheChevrezes worship with us each Sundaybut as of now haven't decided to give their lives to Christ. Their son Andrew, who is ten, completed the Bible Correspondencecourseand averaged 98 percent. Whew, whatquestions he can ask in Bible school!

Since our last letter to you,JennyMartinez and her mother, Mrs. Vasallo, have asked Christ to come into their hearts. Jennyis becoming quite a Bible scholar and helps in Carmen's Middler class on Sundays, but sometimes she has trouble answeringAndrew's questions too. We think we'd better graduate him into Terry and John's teen-age class.

A few weeks ago Delia Pagan was baptized into Christ. She teaches in the public school with Carmen Lopez and togetherthey wantto convert the whole faculty. Delia is really an inspiration to us and is such a good witness to her friends and family. She wants to learn the Biblequickly so she can teach.

Pierre Vivoni was baptized in December butsince that time he's let worldly pleasures come before Christ. He has now changedhis life around and seems sincere in wanting to put Christ first. He worshipped with us Sunday (Sept. 12) for the first time. Heis one of seven District Attorneys in the Mayaguez area.

Terry and John went to dig up papaya trees at the Mo's and in the process met their neighbors, Charley and Inez Beteta. In one week they had decided to give their lives to Jesus and were baptized; they too are an inspiration to us. They are soexcited and happy and humble and eager tolearn. They are wonderful, close Christian friends already.

You might be interested to know the San Juan Star reported this week that Puerto Rico ranks number one in the world, forper capita hard liquor consumption- 2.6 gallons a year. We believe it! Prices are going up and up. Gasoline is 67.9 for regularand is going up 20 cents more. Sugar is now $1.96 for 5 pounds and goes up every week, yet we live In the middle of sugarcane fields. Milk is 54cents aquart. We got a water filter and when we cleaned it we believed the reports about our contaminatedwater.

Again we have specific prayer requests for those who have weekly Bible lessons and are close to making the decision to beChristians • Oscar Guerra, Louise Downam and her friend Renee, and Sylvia Perez. Hiram Martinez and his wife and Mr. andIVfrs. Ernest Sacareli are being baptized this week and Juanita Felicianco will soon - the very date she gets her cast ofF(leg), shesays.

We thank you sincerely for your faithful prayers because as you can see God hears and answers. We love you all in Christ!

In His Service,

P.S. ANOTE FROM NATHAN Ti'rry. Diaune, and Hathan

Hola! r, getting to be a big boy now. M^mmy even had to cut my hair and I have sixteen teeth and like to talk (constantly) and sing and tease and read and watch Sesame Street. Our new house is lots of fiin but Daddy made it so I can't getout ofthebackyardandlthlnkl'd have much more fun on the other side of the fence so I'm learning to climb it and pretty soon

I'll be over. We have lots of banana trees. Daddy cut a stalk this week and it hadsixty bananas on it. Wish I could give you all some, because we're tired of eatingbananas. We havesome smalltreestoo- avocados, grapefruits, oranges, and papayas. This house has a lot more lizzards than our other house did and they are bigger andwhat's neater • they don't even run from me. The neighbor kids caught three todayand put leashes on them and made them fight. Just when it was getting good Mommymade me come home. This house also has more cockroaches and Mommy is alwaysscreaming - Daddy too, if he finds a''grandpapa'' one, but I'm not afraid. I don't likeaU the mosquitos that we have now because it's the rainy season. They make me itch.I like Bible school and now there are four of us in my class and one little girl - LornaBeteta - was born the same day as me. We were in the hospital nursery together butI don't think I remember her (all thosegirls and me the only boy). Whew, I told youI like to talk. This is a long P.S. so I'd better say "Adios"for this time.

FROM THE CLAPPS:

How we are blessed by thewonderful supportfrom you, God's people!!! Our workhere is so much easier as you faithful ones are so consistent and dependable in keepingyour missionary support coming. We are all the supply-line for Terry and Dianneand their efforts to serve Jesus Christ in Mayaguez. We are so thankful for each ofyou and your prayers for theLord's workthere. We rqoice together to see what Godis doing in Mayaguez and we encourage you to"Praise Him" for His love and concernfor mankind. Do keep the Clinton Christian Church in your prayers as we seek toexpand His kingdomin Clinton, Tennessee. We thank you again in His Name.
