Holding PhD in Banking & Finance from Durham University, at the UK in 2006, MBA from (AASTM-

ALO) in 2000 with distinction and BSc. in Business and Accounting in 1989 from The UAE University.

Holding full membership of Australian Institute of CMA and Auditing & Accounting Organization for

Islamic Financial Intuitions (CIPA) and UAE Auditor and Accountants Association. He represents the Gulf

Regulatory Authorities in The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) as member of the

Consultative Advisory Groups of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB)

and the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) and member of board of directors

of GCC Accounting and Auditing Organization.

His experience mainly in banking and finance developed from leading UAE regulatory organizations

and financial institutes such as UAE Central Bank, Securities and Commodities Authorities, Dubai Islamic

Bank, AMLAK Mortgage Finance. He delivered a series of academic lectures and courses at both

undergraduate and postgraduate level in Sharjah University and The British University in Dubai.

Jo has been in Asia for over 17 years, predominantly based in Hong Kong but with two valuable years

spent in Singapore. She has held a number of senior Asia Pacific management positions, successfully

leading sales, business development, and marketing and client relationship management divisions for

major institutions and has both built and managed large and successful regionally located teams.

Jo was expatriated to Hong Kong, with Morgan Stanley, in early 1997 and has worked for a number of

global institutions during her time in Asia. Through her experience - across the service intermediary,

buy and sell side, entrepreneurial and education business environments, she has obtained a meaningful

network of senior level contacts throughout the Alternative Investment industry and across the region

which has consistently given her direct and relevant access to key decision makers.

Topic: Liquid Alternative Investments

Keith Black has over twenty years of financial market experience, serving approximately half of that

time as an academic and half as a trader and consultant to institutional investors. He currently serves

as Director of Curriculum for the CAIA Association. During his most recent role at Ennis Knupp +

Associates, Keith advised foundations, endowments and pension funds on their asset allocation and

manager selection strategies in hedge funds, commodities, and managed futures. Prior experience

includes commodities derivatives trading, stock options research and CBOE floor trading, and building

quantitative stock selection models for mutual funds and hedge funds. Dr. Black previously served as

an assistant professor and senior lecturer at the Illinois Institute of Technology.

He contributes regularly to The CFA Digest, and has published in The Journal of Global Financial

Markets, The Journal of Trading, The Journal of Financial Compliance and Regulation, the Journal of

Investing, The Journal of Environmental Investing, and Derivatives Use Trading and Regulation. He is

the author of the book “Managing a Hedge Fund,” as well as the co-author of the 2012 second editions

of the CAIA Level I and Level II textbooks. Dr. Black was named to the Institutional Investor magazine’s

list of “Rising Stars of Hedge Funds” in 2010.

Dr. Muhtaseb currently he serves as Senior Research and Studies Consultant at Securities &

Commodities Authority. He is actively engaged in SCA’s strategic initiatives. Dr. Muhtasseb is a

Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst (CAIA) Association member since 2011 and a Chartered

Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder since 1997. He was a Professor of Finance for more than 24 years.

He served as Research Director for Global Fund Analysis a fund of hedge funds house in London,

Mohamed has more than 20 years of extensive investment management experience, specifically Private

Equity, Venture Capital, and Fund Management. His core experience is centred on Investment Strategy,

Deal Origination, Asset Valuation, Financial Modelling, Due Diligence, and Adding Value to targets.

Mohamed has worked for many sovereign wealth funds including Abu Dhabi Investment Company

(Invest AD), General Holding Corporation, and for number of private investment companies and funds

as well.

Mohamed is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) since 2012 and got two degrees in

Feasibility Studies/Project Evaluation and Systems Analysis & design.
