We could define the offer of Portuguese materials and interior design companies

(with a with bit of a provocative twist, but just so it is universally clear) as a

Castro & Filhos was created in 1970 with a view to focus its

activity on the production of wooden floors. The company

headquarters are located in the North of Portugal with the

main installations covering an area over 35.000 m2 (16.000 m2

covered). A second production unit is located in Hungary with a

total area of 20.000 m2 (4.000 m2 covered).

Castro & Filhos is a reference company in the international

market of varnished solid wood flooring, outdoor flooring and

floating hardwood floors.

Currently, more than 80% of the production output is exported

to over 32 countries worldwide. The company resorts to the

most recent technologies and to the use of raw material of the

of the Furniture & Furnishings Design brands from Portugal.

In practice, Associative Design organizes joint exhibitions

worldwide in events and media at the highest level.

AIMMP - Portuguese Association of Wood and Furniture Industries’

mission is to represent, promote and defend the interests of the companies

belonging to the five sectorial divisions that comprise the Tier Wood and

Furniture: cutting, felling, sawing and wood packaging; panels and paneled

wood, carpentry and the like; furniture and the like, and export, import and

distribution of wood and derivatives.

These industries account for 2 billion euros of sales volume and export

1.1 billion euros, with the furniture, wood panels, products for construction

(doors and floors) and woods of pine and eucalyptus, in roundwood and

sawn, mainly responsible for these values. As part of the Transformation

Forest Row, which is responsible in Portugal for about 4% of national

GDP, 11% of industrial GDP, 9% of industrial employment and 10% of

national exports, the Wood and Furniture Industries is the most important

socioeconomics of the Portuguese.
