1 Installing ALTIUS

1.1 Hardware Requirements ALTIUS will run on minimum configuration as below:

CPU : Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent

OS : Microsoft Windows XP SP2/Microsoft Windows 2003 Server with latest SP

RAM : 512MB

Network : at least 256 kbps

Disk Space : 50MB free

1.2 Prerequisite Software Before installing ALTIUS, please make sure that you have the following softwares already installed

on your computer:

- Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (included in ALTIUS CD)

- Microsoft Internet Information Services v6.0/v7.0

- Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 Express Edition (included in ALTIUS CD)

- Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 Management Studio (included in ALTIUS CD)

- Web browsers (Microsoft Internet Explorer/Mozilla FireFox)

1.3 Supported Database ALTIUS is currently using Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 Express database.

1.4 Supported Operating System ALTIUS has been tested on the following operating systems:

- Microsoft Windows XP SP2

- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition R2

- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition

1.5 Supported Web Server ALTIUS is developed using Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 server technology, therefore it inherently

requires the presence of Microsoft Internet Information Services version 6.0 or later.

1.6 Installation Procedures Follow below steps to install ALTIUS web application onto your Microsoft Internet Information

Services v6.0:



Step 1: Run file Setup.Exe which resides within Installer folder on your CD, click Next button

Step 2: Click Next button



Step 5: Click Close button to finish the installation process

1.7 Attaching SQL Server Database The installation CD contains Database folder which includes the following files:

- IPS_QPR_Data.MDF

- IPS_QPR_log.LDF

You must attach the database file (IPS_QPR_Data.MDF) to Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008, and

then create a SQL Server login to access the database from the ALTIUS web application.

1.7.1 Attach ALTIUS database to Microsoft SQL Server 2005

Step 1: Open up Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Studio

Step 2: Attach the IPS_QPR_Data.MDF file

1.7.2 Create SQL Server login to access the database



Step 1: Create a new login under Security node

On General section, you need to create the following account: (details on step no. 4)

User Name : altius

Password : prima

Step 2: Make sure you fill in the fields as picture below:



Step 3: Move on to User Mapping section, check on displayed IPS_QPR database and

make sure you do as the following picture illustrated:

The lower part of the screen should be similar to the following:

Step 4: Click OK button to save this new login

After this step, we will be using this account to connect to database IPS_QPR from within

ALTIUS web application.

1.8 Testing ALTIUS on web browser 1.8.1 Adjust database server name field within WEB.CONFIG file, which resides under

C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Altius folder. It is an XML file, and it can be edited using any text

editor application such as NotePad, WordPad, etc.



Use search function on your text editor, and look for the word

Altius_DatabaseServerName (without the quotes)



Replace the circled field on above pictures with the name of the PC where you have

Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 installed. (On my case, Microsoft SQL Server is installed

on a PC named FITONI\SQLEXPRESS) They are case in-sensitive.

1.8.2 Open your web browser and navigate to the ALTIUS server address which is

http://localhost/altius/ (without the quotes) or http://localhost/altius_trial/ if using trial

version.



Congratulation! You have successfully installer ALTIUS, the individual performance

scorecards software.

1.8.3 Try logging in using the initial account, which is:

User Name : altius

Password : demo

Upon successful login, you will see the following screen:



1.9 Uninstalling

You may uninstall ALTIUS using the Windows Control Panel, Add Remove Programs.

1.10 Troubleshooting

Q : Port 80 of my IIS is already configured to be used by Microsoft SharePoint Server

A: You need to create new Web Application and assigned a large number port, like 10000 for example, and then point the newly created Web Application to the folder where Altius files had been copied.

Q: After logging in using initial account, I got error saying The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'IPS_Buffer_Ips', database 'IPS_QPR', schema 'dbo'.

A: Make sure you have the following item checked on User Mapping section within Microsoft

SQL Server Management Studio



Q: When accessing menu My Performance Chart, I got error saying Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Altius\TempFiles\GaugePic_000001.png' is denied.

A: Make sure that ASPNET user account (on IIS 6.0) or NETWORK SERVICE user account (on

IIS 7.0) has Write or even Full Control access to folder

C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Altius\TempFiles and folder C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Altius\SM
