Dear AMIS Festival Participants: On behalf of The American International School Vienna, it is a true pleasure to welcome you to Salzburg. 61 participating student musicians have traveled here to share their artistic passion with peers and guests from 15 schools across Europe. We are proud to host such a significant event, which showcases not only AMIS schools’ commitment to musical excellence but also common bonds that bridge borders and cultures. I wish you many joyous moments during the festival in this beautiful city. Thank you for allowing us to share in this celebration of music.

Sincerely, Steve Razidlo, Director

The American International School Vienna, Austria is proud and privileged to host the middle school AMIS Honor Orchestra Festival this year in the home of Wolfgang Mozart, Salzburg. Set in this spectacular venue, the music that you will create will fill the halls with joy and take the listeners back in time to when Mozart himself was playing here. Music is the world’s common language that is understood by all and unites us across cultures. At AIS Vienna, we have a strong music and arts program lead by high quality faculty and staff, and filled with amazing student musicians. We thank you for coming to our part of the world and sharing your talents to create a wonderful festival of music.

Salzburg Sightseeing Activity Friday April 8 Visit to Mozart’s Birth House The house in which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on the January 27, 1756 is now one of the most frequently visited museums in the world.

The museum is spread over three floors, where visitors can learn about the details of Mozart's life and circumstances: how he grew up, when he began to make music, who his friends and patrons were, his relationship with his family, his passion for opera, and much more. Alongside original portraits and documents, the exhibition also contains special rarities, such as mementos owned by Mozart, his childhood violin, the clavichord on which he composed several pieces including The Magic Flute, and what is probably the most famous portrait of Mozart, painted two years before his death by his brother-in-law, Joseph Lange. Autographs, first editions and early prints of selected works bring the composer's musical development to life.
