After schooling he joined Mahindra Ugine SteelCompany Ltd (MUSCO), the country's foremost producerof speciality steels, as Executive Assistant to the FinanceDirector. In 1989 he was appointed President and DeputyManaging Director of the company.

CAREER HISTORY

At this point of time he took various initiatives to expandthe company and also started the diversification of theMahindra group into new business areas of real estatedevelopment and hospitality management.

In 1991 he was appointed Deputy Managing Director ofMahindra & Mahindra Ltd., the country's dominantproducer of off-road vehicles and agricultural tractorsand climbed more ladders of success by becomingManaging Director in 1997 and in 2003 he was given

the additional responsibility of Vice Chairman.

Mr. Mahindra was also a co-promoter of Kotak MahindraFinance Ltd., which in 2003 was converted into a bank

known as Kotak Mahindra Bank which is one of theforemost private sector banks today.

He pioneered Mahindra & Mahindrasfortay into sport utility vehicles. Earlier,

the company had a presence in utilityvehicles used for commercial purposes. Itwas Mahindra who moved the companyup to launch Scorpio, which in no timewent on to become Indias largestselling sports utility vehicle.

He even launched a mid-sized sedan, Logan, withEuropean carmaker Renault and soon, 53-year-oldMahindra will have two-wheelers in his portfolio of

products.

INTERESTS AND HOBBIES

Mr. Anand Mahindra has a keen interest in football andis a big football fan himself

He also plays tennis and has now taken up sailing as oneof his additional interests

The master of business administration had originallystudied architechture and film in America, but, till date

he continues to be a keen photographer
