Dear Families, While school attendance is important for student success, our priority is the health and safety of our students. Please know that PUENTE Charter School is closely monitoring the current Coronavirus concerns and we are taking precautions to maintain the safety of our students and staff. Please know that our daily cleaning procedures are already extremely thorough, however, our entire school has elevated its hygiene and cleanliness practices where classrooms and shared spaces are receiving additional cleaning service. Antimicrobial and antibacterial cleaning solutions are readily available to all students and staff. Teachers are promoting and reminding children to practice good hygiene in the classroom, in the play area, restroom, and food court to prevent the spread of illness. Computers, toys, and shared areas are being disinfected. Please help us reinforce these best practices with the children at home: Remind children to wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after visiting the restroom; before eating; after blowing their nose, coughing, sneezing, or touching their face. Remind children to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Remind children to cover their cough or sneeze with a tissue, then discard the tissue in the trash and wash their hands. As always, we advise parents to not send their children to school if they are sick. This ensures your child is able to get the proper care and rest they need and protects the health and wellness of our students and staff. This is an evolving situation and we are monitoring it closely to ensure all proper precautions are being taken so everyone feels safe attending class. County health officials have told Los Angeles Unified, at this time that it is safe for all schools to remain open on a normal schedule. We will continue to follow updates and protocol suggested by the CDC, Department of Public Health, LAUSD, and other credible agencies to best ensure the safety of our students and staff. In the event of a possible school closure, please know that PUENTE is prepared with mobile learning and “At-Home Learning Extension Packets” for students to continue learning in their home environment. We appreciate your attention and precaution.

Dear Families,

While school attendance is important for student success, our priority is the health and

safety of our students. Please know that PUENTE Charter School is closely monitoring

the current Coronavirus concerns and we are taking precautions to maintain the safety of

our students and staff.

Please know that our daily cleaning procedures are already extremely thorough, however,

our entire school has elevated its hygiene and cleanliness practices where classrooms and

shared spaces are receiving additional cleaning service. Antimicrobial and antibacterial

cleaning solutions are readily available to all students and staff. Teachers are promoting

and reminding children to practice good hygiene in the classroom, in the play area,

restroom, and food court to prevent the spread of illness. Computers, toys, and shared

areas are being disinfected.

Please help us reinforce these best practices with the children at home:

Remind children to wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after visiting the restroom; before eating; after blowing their nose, coughing, sneezing, or touching their face.

Remind children to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Remind children to cover their cough or sneeze with a tissue, then discard the tissue in the trash and wash their hands.

As always, we advise parents to not send their children to school if they are sick. This

ensures your child is able to get the proper care and rest they need and protects the health

and wellness of our students and staff.

Queridas Familias,

English Language Proficiency Summative Assessment California

Prueba de Suficiencia en el Idioma Inglés

Summativo de California o “ELPAC”

What is the California

English Language

evelopment Test?

State law (Education

Code sections 313,

60810, and 60812)

requires schools to

administer a state test to

students whose home

language is not English.

This test is called the

English Language

Proficiency Assessment

for California (ELPAC).

The purpose of this test

is to identify students

who are English Learners.

An English Learner is a

student whose primary

home language is

something other than

English, and who is not

yet proficient in English.

Who must take the

ELPAC?

All students whose home

language is not English

must take the test. Your

child’s home language

was identified on the

Home Language Survey,

which was completed with

your application for

admission.

What does the ELPAC

cover?

The ELPAC covers

listening, reading, writing

and speaking skills for first

grade students. Test

results are used to identify

English Learners who

need to develop their

speaking and listening

skills in English.

This state test will be

administered by

PUENTE teachers

during class hours to all

appropriate children

beginning this month.
