Formulas in Excel are equations that perform calculations with data in a given sheet, workbook etc.Each formula begins with =Formulas

Formulas can contain:constants directly inserted numbers, textcell references from the same or a different sheet, including absolute, relative or mixed referencesmathematical operations addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, power, brackets, comparisonfunctions

Content of formulas

Excel works with mathematical precedence of operators - (e.g. power has a higher precedence than multiplication, multiplication has a higher precedence than addition)

Formulas additional notesOnly round brackets are used (unlike square or curly brackets etc. as in mathematics), matching pairs of brackets share the same colour
