    Brief description for Flare-1:

    • Process vents from Alkyl plants(Products like TEAl, TnBAl ,TiBAl,DiBAlH ,DEZ and Alkyl Derivatives ) are connected to Flare-1.

    • Process vents from the plant are diverted to vent buffer stocommon vent header.

    • Vent gas from all plants mix together in common vent header and goes to flare via knock out drum.

    • ProcessventinFlare-1 is mixture of nitrogen gas and other hydrocarbon gases like Ethylene, Butene, Hydrogen, Nitrogen and traces of Alkyl.

    Problem statement:

    • In above flare set-up,it is observed that some solid deposit sat flare bottom inlet line post KOD pot.

    • DEZ plant vent is routed through vent buffer sand it mixes withth event stream from other Alkyl plant sat KOD.

    • As per study and practical experience, flare bottom inlet line chocking frequency has increased considerably after start-up of DEZ product.

    • There is a high probability that these solid precipitates due to very slow reaction when vent gas from DEZ setup and vent gas from other Alkyl products mix in common KOD.

    • Due to this solid precipitation, cleaning of flare bottom piece is required at regular intervals.

    • Opening vent line at regular interval is a major Safety hazard.

    Proposed solution:

    • To address to the above problem statement, piping modifications is proposed at flare bottom in let to reduce vent gas contact time, but with no significant benefit.

    • Only possible solution is to separate vent gas of DEZ plant from alkyl plant. Dedicated flaring of vent gas from DEZ plant will address the issue of solid deposition in flare bottom line. Thus, avoid safety

hazard associated with flare bottom line opening.

    • It is proposed to install separate Flare-4 for DEZ plant.

    • Vent load of DEZ plant from existing Flare-1will be diverted to DEZ Flare-4.

    • Proportional amount of vent load in Flare-1will be reduced.

    • There will be no change inover all Flaring load of Alkyl unit. Vent load to existing Flare-1(Alkyl plant ) will be distributed between Flare-1( Alkyl plant other than DEZ plant) and Flare-4(DEZ plant).
