“Night of virtuous miniatures “

For all admirers of classical music and for those who

enjoy the sounds of piano and violin, on the 23rd of February

in Apollonia Hotel was held concert titled “Night of virtuous

miniatures”. This is the second concert edition from the event

Gevgelija Music Spring for 2010, which is dedicated to the 200

years celebration of Frederic Chopin’s birth, and the event it-

self marks his 10 years existence. The program with sonata and

concert for violin was performed by the students from the vio-

lin professor Oleg Kondratenko: Simon Popovski, Martin Dimi-

trov, Viktor Angelov and Sofija Nikovska with piano backup of

prof. Elena Atanasovska.

Prof. Oleg Kondratenko as soloist and concertmaster

performed with the chamber orchestra “Junge Philharmonie”

from Koln on 39 concerts and represented Macedonia in the frames of the summer road show in Germany.

Prof. Elena Atanasovska participated in the summer school “New names” in Suzdal, Russia where she

had impressive performance in chamber duo on the concert of the most successful seminaries.

General sponsor of Gevgelija musical moments is Apollonia Foundation, and this year this event is also

supported by the Ministry of culture.

The concerts are held with the purpose to popularize the musical values in Gevgelija, and it’s also a

chance for

the classical

music public

from our

town to hear

the great

masterpiece

performed by

from the

state and

above.

For the children from the

environmental project Nature

Day February was a month

dedicated educationally on the

theme Biodiversity. We learned

more about farming and culti-

vation, some interesting facts about the animal and plants that are typical for our area.

The most impressive was the Nature Day organized in village Petrovo, where the chil-

dren had an opportunity to see how from the lambs we can get wool, and how from

the wool we can make wool stocks, clothes, rag carpet and shaggy woolen home-made

blanket. We also saw the water mill for flour and their so-called “Veljevica” place build

on the river where they wash their blankets and rags, which are using nothing else but

the natural course of the water and are typical unique things that were used in the

past, and it’s good to see that people still use them.
