Purpose of post

Main duties and responsibilities

1. Help adults in North Halifax primarily – and particularly those who are inactive - to address barriers, improve confidence and access local physical activity opportunities.

2. Deliver physical activity taster sessions, engagement and activity days, and wellbeing information events alongside the Staying Well workers.

3. Develop and maintain partnerships and close working relationships with appropriate voluntary groups, service providers and local business in order to make existing and emerging information, resources and services more accessible to adults in North Halifax.

4. Support the establishment of an Active North Halifax network and work closely with the Staying Well workers and local Staying Well steering group to develop existing and new local resources including Volunteer North Halifax.

5. Support the Ovenden and Mixenden Initiative staff and partners to deliver physical activity interventions to improve community relations and tackle antisocial behaviour.

6. Adopt co-production approach to identify barriers and design interventions to embed measurable 30-150 minutes into a wider wellbeing offer.

7. Work closely with those able to identify and provide referrals of adults whose needs will most greatly benefit from local physical activities, in particular Staying Well, Better Living team, NHS and Mental Health service providers.

8. Research potential funding sources for development of the project and community training opportunities for sports leadership.

9. To maintain appropriate records and to ensure that information is organised and evaluated effectively.

10. To use IT to assist in the planning and delivery of the service and the provision of management information.

Responsibility for planning, coordinating and delivering community projects with a range of partners and providers and clients.

Identifying funding opportunities, writing applications and securing resource. Producing written reports and supporting information for senior officers and funders. Undertaking Health and Safety risk assessments and other workplace assessments

Desirable

Previously undertaken sports development work, coaching or physical activity leadership. Carrying out various methods of consultation

Education, qualificationsand Training Attainments

Essential

A level 4 or above qualification in sports or community development, or similar relevant qualification.

GCSE (c or above) in English and Maths or the ability to demonstrate can work to this level. Willingness to undertake relevant training
