Speaking Part 2Describe a Photograph

Responde 3 preguntas

El objetivo de esta tarea es describir, expresar opiniones, dar razones y explicaciones y

está diseñada para demostrar un nivel B1. Se debe describir una foto y responder a 2

preguntas adicionales.

• 1ª pregunta: se pide que se describa la foto.

• La 2ª pregunta es sobre algún aspecto de la foto que esté relacionado con el

candidato/a.

• La 3ª pregunta es sobre el tema de la foto de un modo más general, para que el

candidato/a de una opinión, razonada y justificada.




Las preguntas se presentan de forma oral (grabadas) y escritas. Cuando se

responda a una pregunta (después del BEEP/pitido), se continúa con la siguiente

describir.

Importante: Se debería responder con más de una oración simple cada pregunta (usando

conectores textuales/ discourse markers) para extender la respuesta.




El tiempo que se tiene para responder cada pregunta es de 45 segundos.

La puntuación es de 0 a 5:

– Conseguir 3 puntos: hay que contestar correctamente 2 preguntas.

– Conseguir 3-4 puntos: Demostrar un nivel B1.

– Conseguir 5 puntos: Demostrar un nivel superior a B1.

Describe the picture.

In this picture I can see a group of young

people in the street. They are boys and girls

and they are playing different musical

instruments such as a violin, a guitar or banjo,

a flute and an accordion. They seem to belong

to a music band because they are all wearing

blue sweaters.

In the background there are a lot of people

walking around and the street is crowded, so it

can be the city centre in a big city.

On the right of the picture I can see a

woman who is throwing a coin into a blue bag,

so their performance must be good.

Yes, I do. I have played the saxophone since I

was a child. When I was seven I started

attending to a music academy where I learnt

to play saxophone.

My parents bought me a very expensive

saxophone and I was playing several years in

a music band in my town, but when I started

university I gave it up.

I keep my saxophone and I like playing in my

free time because it helps me to relax.

Besides, I sometimes play some songs when I

meet my friends. They love it!

I love listening to many different kinds of

music but I prefer listening to flamenco music.

This is a traditional kind of music in the region

where I live and I have been listening to

flamenco since I was a little child.

My favourite singer is Camarón and I enjoy

listening his rumbas, which are very popular. I

like his hoarse voice and his lyrics.

I also listen to famous guitarists such as Paco

de Lucía and Tomatito, especially when I’m

driving my car.

El objetivo de esta tarea es describir, comparar y contrastar, dar razones y

explicaciones y está diseñada como la anterior para un nivel B1.

Se deben describir y comparar 2 fotos y responder a 2 preguntas adicionales:

• 1ª pregunta: describir ambas fotos.

• 2ª pregunta: contrastar y comparar algunos aspectos de las fotos.

• 3ª pregunta: dar una opinión o expresar una preferencia relacionado

con estos aspectos.

Todas las preguntas se presentan de forma oral (grabadas) y escritas. Cuando

se responda a una pregunta (después del BEEP/pitido), se continúa con la

siguiente.

Se muestran 2 fotos (mostrando aspectos diferentes del mismo tema) en la pantalla del

ordenador.Importante: Se debería responder con más de una oración cada pregunta (usando Conectores Textuales/Connectives), extender la respuesta y usar estructuras relacionadas con los objetivos de la tarea.

Se dispone de 45 segundos para cada respuesta.

Puntuación de 0 a 5:– Conseguir 3 puntos: hay que contestar correctamente 2 preguntas.

– Obtener 3-4 puntos: Demostrar un nivel B1.

– Conseguir 5 puntos: Demostrar un nivel superior a B1.

2) luego haz una descripcióngeneral de lo que ves en laprimera imagen

“In the first picture we can see…”

Where was the photo taken?

What else can you see?



3) Ahora puedesespecular sobre laprimera foto

“I would say that…”

Luego explica el por qué.

4) Ahora puedesempezar con lasegunda foto. Utilizaalgún conector

Debes practicar esta parte para completarla en 45 segundos

No pases demasiado tiempo en la primera foto antes de conectarla con la segunda

No es necesario que describas la foto con muchísimo detalle (como lo hacíamos en la parte 2) yaque tienes que hablar sobre ambas fotos en sólo 45 segundos

Intenta no dejar ningún espacio en silencio y continúa hablando hasta que te interrumpa elsonido (ya sabes… ¡beep!)

En el examen podrás ver el tiempo que te queda en la pantalla



Si te preguntan sobre ventajas e inconvenientes (advantages and disadvantages) dealgo, una buena idea es parafrasear (paraphrase) utilizando otras expresiones como:

upsides and downsides

benefits and drawbacks

pros and cons

si haces esto demostrarás al examinador que puedes usar una amplia variedad de vocabulario



Si te preguntas sobre ‘por qué algo es importante’ o ‘ por qué a la gente le gusta’ (whysomething is important or why people like), deberías estructurar tu respuesta yexplicar las razones con claridad

The main reason that...is important is...

Another reason people like...might be because...

si haces esto conseguirás hacer que tu respuesta sea más fácil de comprender -¡y seguramente consigas una nota mejor en esta parte!



Si en la última pregunta te piden que hagas una elección (make a choice), podrías

usar una oración condicional para empezar:

I like both situations, but if I have to decide, I’ll probably choose…because...

Después de esto puedes hablar sobre aspectos de tu vida y experiencias del pasado¡Ya no hace falta que menciones las fotos!

Tell me what you see in the 2 pictures.

In both pictures there are some people going

shopping. The first picture shows a flea market

(mercadillo) in a street with lots of people walking

around the items, such as clothes and shoes, to be

sold. Items are lying on the ground or on cardboard

boxes.

In the second picture there is just a middle-aged

woman in front of some stands with colourful shirts

hanged on it. She may be in a big shopping centre

or department store. She is looking at one of those

shirts and she is carrying a white pair of trousers,

maybe to try them on.

The shopping centre is a quieter place to shop than

the flea market, since there is fewer people and

shopping centres are huge buildings to host many

customers, much bigger than a flea market.


Which of these two places would you prefer

going shopping?

Well, if I wanted to save money, I would go to a

flea market, since items of clothing must be

cheaper. If I want to buy more expensive brand-

new or trendy clothes, I will go to a shopping

centre.

When you go to a shopping centre it is easier to

get a refund if you have any problem and the

quality of clothes is higher.

If I were rich, I would prefer going to a shopping

centre. However, I can only afford to buy in a flea

market. Last week was the last time a shopped in

a flea market.


What kind of people shops in these two

places?

People who shop in shopping centres are more

concerned about fashion and styles and they

don’t worry about the money the must spend on it.

Items of clothing in these places are chosen by

fashion trends, followed by celebrities and people

all over the world.

On the other hand, people who buy in flea

markets are only concerned about the money

they want to spend. They shop in these places in

order to save some money. They can purchase

cheaper clothes which they can afford.
