This weekend house was designed for a single family in a remote stretch of land in Boyacá, Colombia. The idea was to use the simplicity of barnlike volumes combined with local materials and ways of construction; as well as having a constant relation with the outdoors while creating cozy warmer spaces.One volume holds the social area, while the other holds the sleeping / private area of the house. Both are pierced by brick cubes which hold the serving spaces, making the difference in use evident through volumetry.

This house was designed for two families to share. In a tropical location, with warm climate the main design concept was to blend interior with exterior; so borders would vanish and the outdoor sensation would be the houses main attraction. The design pivots around an open patio that distributes to the different areas of the house and organizes the activity. Visuals, textures, sunlight and shadows, routing and variations in height, acompany the visitor in his discovery of the house.

The project was based in understanding the different ways in which architecture helps the dweller feel at home in the city. Starting with an analysis that begins with the idea that in the moment in which we blur the limits between inside and outside, home and street, both the dweller and the city benefit.

This continues with the search of the architectural elements that help create this re-lation between the inside and outside; and how the appropriation of these elements (balconies, loggias, front door, garden) can help the “in-between” space where the limits of public and private, inside and outside, home and city get blurred.

Proyect based on the study of the skins different reactions to movement; articulations and span. Experimenting with the flexibility of the articulations as such, and how skin follows its expansion and contraction. Combined with analysis and mapping of places as different as the Netherlands and Istanbul, searching for ways to synthetize each places “situation” in terms of shape and movement. The ultimate goal was to experiment with the exageration and contrast between situations, to end imposing one on the site of the other.

This small scale project consists in the extension of the library and conservation of the existing buikding. It seeks to heighten the existing buildings characteristics while reconciling it with its surroundings through the fulfillment of new spacial, structural and environmental requirements to ensure its refurbishment and conservation. A semi-interred circular volume was added to the existing building; this volume would contain the new library with open shelves, a mezzanine, and is illuminated from above. The green roof camouphlages the intervention while complementing the existing volume.

This masterplan defines the implementation of five new buildings in the topographically complex university campus. After careful analysis of the existing campus and the existing buildings, the challenge was to establish a way to insert the new buildings; achieving an equilibrium between what exists and the intervention. How to construct the new buildings containing the maximum area possible, without invading the campus. As well as design-ing the paths and connections between open areas and through the buildings around the university.
