Block ConstructionAll seam allowances are 1/4" and pieces are sewn right sides together. Note that triangles cut from 55/8" squares are referred to as small and those cut from 87/8" squares are referred to as large.

1. Noting the orientation, sew a B6203 Aqua triangle A to opposite sides of the 21/8" B6642 Sun squares (figure 1). Press the seams toward the square. Make a total of 160 units.

2. Repeat step 1 with eighty 21/8" B6557 Garnet squares (figure 2).

3. Sew the remaining B6203 Aqua triangles A to two adjacent sides of the remaining eighty 21/8" B6557 Garnet squares (figure 3).

4. Sew together the step 1-3 units as shown to make eighty pieced strips (figure 4).

5. Noting the orientation and following the fabric combinations listed in the chart below, sew a large triangle to the top and a small triangle to the bottom of each step 4 strip. Press the seams toward the triangles. Trim all blocks to 81/2" square.

Quilt Top Assembly6. Following the quilt photo and quilt assembly

diagram for block placement and orientation, lay out ten rows of eight blocks each. Sew the blocks together in each row, then sew the rows together in order, matching adjacent seams.

7. For border 1, sew eight 1" B6645 Flamingo border strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Measure the length of the quilt top through the center and cut two border 1 strips that length. Sew one strip to each side of the quilt top. Measure the width of the quilt top through the center. Cut two border 1 strips that length and sew one to the top and one to the bottom. Press the seams toward the borders.

8. Repeat step 7 with the eight 51/2" B6638 Horizon strips to make and add border 2.

Finishing9. Layer the quilt top, batting and backing, and quilt

as desired.

10. Stitch the binding strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Fold and press the resulting long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together. Stitch to the quilt front, matching raw edges and mitering the corners.

11. Fold the binding to the quilt underside and hand-stitch the folded edge to the quilt back.
