Aspen Global’s role within the Aspen GroupIn addition to Aspen Global’s strategic role as a holding

company, launch pad for global expansion and management

of the intellectual property rights, Aspen Global plays a

crucial operational role within the Aspen Group.

Aspen Global is responsible for sourcing and managing

more than 3 500 stock keeping units from over

75 manufacturing sites around the world and supplying to

more than 150 countries internationally. Since its inception

Aspen Global has supplied 200 million packs of medicine

worldwide and currently manages more than 6 000 orders

and supplies 85 million packs annually. Many of the Aspen

supplied medicines are lifesaving or medically critical.

Investing in our peopleThe backbone of Aspen Global’s business, and one of the reasons for its success, is the talented pool of people comprising more than

150 staff members across nine departments. While the business had to initially rely exclusively on expatriates, we are now proud to

have an 80% Mauritian staff complement. Most of these employees have been trained and developed to take on senior positions. In

line with the Aspen Group’s policy, Aspen Global is a proud equal opportunity employer with 53% of the headcount comprising females

and more than 15 different nationalities are represented.

Adding value to the Mauritian economyAspen Global continues to be a valuable contributor to the Mauritian economy, with the following statistics being most notable:

➤➤ Total of 704 million Rupees paid in corporate tax since inception;

➤➤ Total of 93 million Rupees paid in PAYE since inception;

➤➤ More than 285 billion Rupees transacted in terms of

banking for purposes of acquisitions, loans and on-going

operations; and

➤➤ An average of three days and 29 675 Rupees spent on

training per employee per annum.

Committed to CSRFor the past three years Aspen Global has participated in the

Aspen Group’s initiative to embrace and support Nelson

Mandela International Day across its business units on six

continents. In 2015 we will once again make a difference in

the lives of less fortunate communities when we participate

in the campaign. This annual event is particularly rewarding to

beneficiaries and employees alike as our staff become

actively involved in the event and personally reach out to

those in need.

In addition, Aspen Global annually contributes to a number of

corporate social responsibility activities in Mauritius and is a

proud supporter of a number of NGOs. In 2014 Aspen

sponsored more than seven projects in which cash was

donated and staff participated in activities to provide

improvements to communities in need.
