AUGMENTED REALITY.REALITYAUGMENTED DAIN JUNG.Augmented Reality1WHAT IS AUGMENTED REALITY?

Basically it is a BRIDGE between the real life and virtual world.

Augmented reality(AR) generates a combination of real-world and computer-generated data. At present, most AR research is concerned with the use of live video imagery which is digitally processed and "augmented" by the addition of computer-generated graphics.

2WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BWTEEN Ar AND VR?

Augmented Reality can be considered as an extension of Virtual Reality (VR). However, in VR environment, the user is immersed in an artificial world and becomes divorced from the real environment, while in AR environment, the user maintains a sense of real world. The virtual images are embedded into the real world context to create the augmented system. AR might apply to all senses, not just sight. AR could be extended to include sound. The user would wear headphones equipped with microphones on the outside. The headphones would add synthetic, directional 3D sound, while the external microphones would detect incoming sounds from the environment. Thus, one can cancel selected real incoming sounds and add others to the system. This is not easy, but possible.AR has a great future as it promises better navigation and interaction with real and virtual world in ways which has previously been unimaginable.

Within the next decade, we are going to see an increasing amount of augmented reality entering our daily lives. As the role of Augmented Reality in our lives is increased, it does not just enhance our awareness of environment, but it can easily control/augment our cognition.

Therefore, we should adopt a thoroughly critical attitude both to what we see and what have been shown.
