    August Meeting Notes

    Highlights of Fleischmanns First Monthly MeetingAugust 3, 2013

    FF to participate in the Cauliflower Fest, Septem-ber. John Hoeko will coordinate the booth and vol-unteers. Fleischmanns First membership renewalsand acquiring new members is a primary goal of theevent. FF t-shirts will be available for sale.

    Community Garden is completed, 7 out of 12 plotshave been taken and are planted.

    Pumpkin patch is flourishingsee pictures! Pump-kin Fest and Fleischmanns History Day scheduledfor October 12th

    Howlween planning underway-see article-Childrens party October 26th from 3-5pm; Adultcostume party from 7pm

    Fiscal year 2014 budget proposed and passed.Budget available upon request

    August 29th Community Day, Thursday 4-8pm atWagner Avenue park

    Gazebo in need of scraping and painting. Pleasecontact Rob Alverson who is forming a volunteergroup

    Town Supervisor Candidates to speak at Fleischmanns Forum

    Marjorie Miller, Supervisor of Middletown, and Nelson Delameter, candidate forSupervisor, will each have the opportunity to speak with members of our com-munity at the next Fleischmanns First meeting on September 7th. We will discussregular business when the meeting convenes at 9:30am. Coffee and continentalbreakfast will be available at 9:15am.

    Each candidate will speak for not more than 20 minutes. A question and answer

    period will follow each presentation. The first candidate willappear at 10am and the second at 11am. This is not a debateformat but rather an informational session. The question andanswer section will be moderated.

    This is your chance to hear the candidates talk about theirvision for the township and for Fleischmanns in particular. It

    is your opportunity to ask questions about your concerns that each of them haveor might effect. We hear all too often that Fleischmanns is overlooked by ourelected officials. This is your opportunity to make the candidates aware of yourpoint of view and to see which of them is better suited to represent you and yourvision for Fleischmanns.

    Dont miss this opportunity this important meeting!

    To commemorate the 2nd Anniversaryof Hurricane Irene and celebrate the250th Anniversary of the Town of Mid-dletown and the 100th Anniversary of

    Halloween in August

    Committee members for the Howl...ween parties, led by Yvonne Reuter, are planning this years event s and hope to addmore Halloween fun throughout the Village during the month of October.

    October 12th, Fleischmanns First will host a Pumpkin Festival fund raiser from 10- 4pm. Our pumpkin plants are grow-ing nicely and we expect a large crop of carving and eating pumpkins as well as mini gourds. Thepatch will be open as a pick your own that Saturday; already harvested pumpkins will be availablefor sale at the Gazebo where pumpkin decorating activities will take place for children of all ages.

    Build your own scarecrows will be an highlight and we want to encourage all business owners andhouse owners on Main Street and Wagner Ave to build a scarecrow to place in their front yards andin front of their stores. Prizes will be awarded for the best scarecrow on Main Street and WagnerAvenue. The Committee is seeking donations of used jeans, flannel shirts, bandannas, hats, glovesand burlap. Bring your donations to either of the next two Fleischmanns First monthly meetings,September 7th and October 5th.

    October 26th, from 3-5pm, the childrens Howlween party will take place at the Birman buildingacross from the supermarket. The costume party for adults begins at 7pm. The childrens party will

    once again feature exciting and creative activities. So get your creative juices flowing and plan your costumes.
