    It's fact.Volvo in Australia can give you trucks capableof hauling gross combination weights of 59 to90 tonnes with the TD120 engine .... andfrom 45 to as high as 110 tonnes with the,TDI20F intercooled engine.The F12 and FI2F series is clearly in the heavylong haul league!So it's strictly bogie drive.Yet we haven't neglected the importantspecialised 8x4 market. The F12F is availablein twin-steer versions - either for use as arigid chassis or as a prime rnover for roadtrain combinations.We're really at the top of the tree now.So you can confidently specify high enginepower ratings and deep gearbox ratios .... andget them - ALL FROM VOLVO!

    GEARBOX: SR62 Volvo's 16 forwardspeed transmission well known now forthe way it splits 8 synchromesh gears togive the driver 26% splits between gearsranging from 11.22:1 in low to 0.84: 1 inoverdrive. You change ratios using onlyfour lever positions with two toggleswitches controlling the splitter and range-change sections.

    SUSPENSIONS: As with drive axles wemake certain the suspension is anengineered match to the transport task.For example, you can order an 8x4 witheither the Volvo inverted single-point'T-Ride' rear suspension with parabolicleaves, or a Hendrickson walking beamwith semi-elliptic springs. Hendricksonsuspensions are also used on our FlO 6x4.

    ENGINE: TD lOOG A six-cylinder in-linefour stroke direct injection turbocharged~i.ese1developing 203 kW ('276 bhp) at2200 rlmin and 1080 Nm (797 lb/ft)torque at 1300 r/rnin, Like all Volvodiesels it's uncomplicated and fuelefficient. Its 9.6 litre capacity andmoderately high output equip it to powerthe wide span of vehicle types possible inthe FlO range.

    DRIVE AXLES: Depending on the axleconfiguration you choose, there's a Volvosingle-reduction drive for the 4x2, andeither Rockwell SP40 or SSHD tandems inthe 6x4 models. The SP40 and Volvo'sown bogie drive is available in the FlO8x4. We can offer you axle ratios to meeta whole list of job applications. Andobviously we carry enough options to suitthose 'special' requirements.

    'ROAD VIKING' - a special version ofFlOWe built this model for a particular segment of the Australian market.We've given it a short cab rather than a sleeper, we've reduced thecomfort interior appointments and trim, removed the air conditioning,the floor carpet, the long range fuel tanks, and the radio/cassette. In allwe've trimmed 200 kg from the tare weight of the basic FlO 6x4great for the delivery transport service fleet operator.

    ~ENGINE; TD12QG A 12litre six cylinder turboengine in the Volvoengineering style but thistime developing 243 kW(330 bhp) at 2200 r/minwith a lift in torque to1.300 Nm (959 lb/ft) at1300 r/rnin, It's an enginefor the operator whoneeds power and economyin the gross weight ratingspermitted with F12.

    GEARBOX: SR62 Again,the famous SR62 is .employed - but with thebigger engine. Those 16ratios are available for thedriver to extract the fullpotential from tile engineand torque curves. Thistransmission follows thetrue multi-speed gearboxtradition, and Volvoengineering excellenceupholds it all the way.

    ENGINE: TD120F The newTD120F intcrcooled 12 litre engineis derived from the TD120C. Itshigh output of 283 gross kW (385gross bhp) and maximum torque of1570 Nm (1157 lb/ft) at 1300 r/rninputs it in a Volvo class of its own.It's the muscle that can move up to110 tonnes GeM.

    GEARBOX: SR70 Mating with theengine is Volvo's 'third generation'transmission- the 5R70. Its direct-top 12 forward synchro ratios areon top of a 2-ratio crawler section... down to 15: 1. Faster changescome from a new splitter and a newthree-position gearlever.
