Ikinalulugod ko pong ilahad ang “Socio-Economic Profile 2013”. Nakapaloob dito ang
kalagayan ng Barangay Manggalayan Labak sa mga aspeto ng pamamahala tulad ng mga
sumusunod : Sistema at Paraang Pampangasiwaan (Administrative Systems and Procedure) ,
Serbisyong Panglehislatibo (Legislative Services ) , Lawak ng Pakikilahok ng Kumunidad (Extent
of Community Participation) , Serbisyong Panlipunan (Social Services) , Kaunlarang Pang-
ekinomiya (Economic Development) ,at Pamamanihala ng Kapaligiran (Environmental
Management).
Ito ang magsisilbing batayan ng ating pagbalangkas ng mga programa at proyektong
higit na tutugon sa pangangailangan ng ating barangay. Ito’y maisasakatuparan sa
pamamagitan ng pagbuo ng isang Barangay Agenda batay sa ating Socio-Economic Profile
2013 na magiging daan naman natin sa pagkakaroon ng Barangay Development Plan.
Layunin din ng bagay na ito na ipabatid ang higit na pangangailangan ng ating
Barangay sa lahat ng mga kinauukulan, para sa nararapat na pakikipag-ugnayan at
kooperasyon, tulad ng National Government Agencies (NGAs) , mas Mataas na Local
Government Units ( LGUs) – bayan/lungsod/lalawigan, mga Pribadong Sektor at iba pa.
Ngunit higit sa lahat, layunin ng Socio-Economic profile ay maipabatid sa ating mga
kabarangay ang tunay na kalagayan ng ating barangay para sa kanilang kabatiran at higit
na pakikipagtulungan.

TANGGAPAN NG PUNUMBAYAN
MENSAHE
Mahalaga ang kamulatan ng mamamayan sa mga impormasyon ukol sa
bawat barangay ng Atimonan. Ang magbigay ng konkreto at angkop na mga
datos ang layunin ng Socio-Economic Profile ng mga Barangay. Ito rin ang
magsisilbing matibay na batayan upang mabalangkas ng Pamahalaang Bayan
ang mga programang pangkaunlaran na ang mamamayan ang higit na
makikinabang.
Ang ating mamamayan ang salamin ng kaunlaran ng bayan kaya ang
progreso ng apatnapu’t dalawang barangay ay pinapahalagahan ng Lokal na
Pamahalaan ng Atimonan. Ang Socio-economic Profile ang testimonya na patuloy
ang pag-unlad ng ating bayan.

Punumbayan
KATANGIAN AT INTERPRETASYON SA OPISYAL NA LOGO NG BARANGAY
Ang opisyal na sagisag (logo) ay binubuo ng dalawang hugis bilog, isa(1) sa loob at isa
sa labas. Ang espasyo sa gitna ng dalawang (2) hugis bilog ay nakasulat ang mga
sumusunod:
BARANGAY MANGGALAYAN LABAK – pangalan ng barangay at nakalagay sa
itaas na bahagi ng bilog.
ATIMONAN, QUEZON – pangalan ng bayan at probinsyang nakaksakop sa
barangay sa ibabang bahagi ng hugis bilog.
Ang gitnang bahagi ng nasa loob ng bilog ang mga sumasagisag sa
pagkakakilanlan ng barangay ay ang mga sumusunod:
KULAY LUNTIAN sumisimbolo sa taglay na likas na yaman ng mga
kabundukang nakapalibot ditoat maging sa kapatagan o bukirin.
KULAY BUGHAW Sumisimbolo sa maaliwalas na pamumuhay ng mga
mamamayang dito’y naninirahan
BUNDOK sumisimbolo sa anyong lupang sagana sa likas na yaman at
pangunahing pinagkukunan ng ikabubuhay ng mga mamamayan sa barangay.
BUKID ang luntiang bukirin ay sumisimbolo sa masaganang – ani bilang
patunay na ang mga magsasakang dito’y naninirahan ay puhunan ang sipag at
tiyaga sa pagbabanat ng buto sa pagtatanim ng palay, gulay, at prutas.
PUNO NG NIYOG larawan ng literal na puno ng niyog na sumisimbolo sa
pangunahing produkto ng barangay
ULAP sumisimbolo sa kalayaan na tulad nito’y malayang naglalakbay sa
papawirin. Simbolo ng malayang pamumuhay, pangarap at katagumpayan.
Ang pagkilala ay ibinibigay sa mga nag-ambag para sa pagsasa-ayos ng opisyal
na sagisag (logo) ng barangay at ito ay ang mga sumusunod:
KGG. ALFONSO A. SAAVEDRA (+) – Dating Punong Barangay; na nagpatupad
ng pagkakaroon ng opisyal na sagisag ang barangay.
G. EFREN NERA (+) – Dating Ingat-Yaman ng Barangay; sa pagdesinyo at
pagguhit ng sagisag.
SANGGUNIANG BARANGAY (KASALUKUYAN) – sa pagbibigay ng kahulugan ng
sagisag.
GNG. MAGDALENA AMPARO – Dating Kalihim ng Barangay; para sa huling
pagsasa-ayos ng sagisag.
VISION
Isang pamayanan mapayapa, may pagkakaisa at
may pananalig sa Diyos at kumakalinga sa kalikasan.
MISSION
Magkaroon ng pagkakaisa at maisakatuparan ang
programang pangkabuhayan upang maiangat
ang antas ng buhay ng pamayanan.
1. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
KASAYSAYAN NG BARANGAY MANGGALAYAN LABAK
Noong unang panahon ang Pilipinas ay nasa ilalim ng pamahalaang
Espanya. Sa lahat ng lugar ang mga Kastila ang makapangyarihan. Ang tawag ng
mga Kastila sa mga Pilipino ay Indiyo, at ang mga taong nagrerebelde sa kanila ay
Insurektos. Sa panahong iyon ang bayan ng Atimonan ay nabigyan ng pangalan na
hinango sa pangalan ng isang dakilang butihing babae sa katauhan ni Ate Monang,
na sa tinagal-tagal ng panahon ay naging Atimonan.
Noon ding panahong iyon ay nabuo ang isang barangay sa pusod ng
kagubatan ng Atimonan. Ang lugar na ito ay malayo sa kabihasnan at ang
ikinabubuhay ng mga naninirahan doon ay pagkakaingin, pagtatanim ng palay,
gulay at prutas, pag-aalaga ng manok at baboy. Ang mga inaani nilang produkto ay
dinadala nila sa kabayanan sa pamamagitan ng paragos na hila ng kalabaw.
Lingguhan sila kung bumaba buhat sa bundok para magdala ng mga inani nila.
Dito ay may labing apat na ulo ng pamilya na siyang unang nagging tao sa lugar
na ito. Bago makarating ng kabayanan ay kailangang gumawa ng daan para
makalusot ang paragos at dapat ay may baong pagkain sapagkat kapag umalis ng
umaga ang balik na ay hapon sa hirap ng daraanan.
Isang araw ay mayroong isang pangkat ng mga Kastila ang nakarating sa
lugar na iyon at nagpanggap na sugo ng Roman na si Papa Rues alyas KABUIG.
Habang sila ay naglalakad ay may natanaw silang isang matandang lalaki na nasa
ilalim ng isang punong mangga at natutulis ng kawayan na gagawing pambakod.
Ang magkakasama ay dalidaling lumapit sa matanda at nagtanong kung ano ang
pangalan ng nasabing lugar.
Sapagkat salitang banyaga ang ginamit ng mga Kastila, bukod pa sa
mahina ang pandinig ng matanda ang sagot ng matanda, ay “oo mangga nga iyan.”
Ang akala ng matanda ay itinatanong ng mga banyaga ang pangalan ng punong
kanyang kinatatayuan. Sapagkat hindi sila nagkaunawaan, ang salitang isinasagot ng
matanda ay inulit-ulit ng mga Kastila habang nagtatawanan. “Mangga nga iyan, “
“Mangga nga iyan,” at silay umalis na. Hanggang sa lumaon ang salitang ito ay
nagging MANGGALAYAN.
2. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Barangay Manggalayan Labak is one of the inner barangays of Atimonan, it is located about 5.5 kilometers away from town’s poblacion and 5 kilometers away from National Highway bounded on the north by Barangay Tagbakin, on the south by Barangay Manggalayan Bundok, on the east by Barangay Lubi and on the west by Barangay Montes Balaon. It has a total land area of 965.1907 hectares per record of Municipal Assessors Office composed of four puroks- Purok I, Purok II, Purok III and Sitio Kinakatihan. Topography of the barangay is mostly plain and mountainous on the other side. Almost 98% of the land is agricultural. Definitive data were specified below:

3. SOCIO-ECONOMIC SECTOR
RHU Survey of 2014, showed that Brgy. Manggalayan Labak had a population of
969 with a computed population growth rate of 0.08 %. There are more female than
male with distribution revealing 67.07% of the total population belong to ages 10 –
59 years old; 23% under 1 year old to 9 year old and 9.40% belonging to 60 years old and above. This shows that Brgy. Manggalayan Labak has a very strong working
population and low dependent population.
School going population (pre-school, elementary, secondary and college) is
computed at 34% of the total population and the most common religion is Roman

3.2. GENERAL ECONOMIC PROFILE
98% or 950.1307 hectares area of the barangay is devoted to agriculture. Major
crops are copra, rice and variety of fruits and vegetables. There is no existing irrigation
system that contributed to the limited production of farm products. Some of the populace
are leaned to poultry production for additional source of income.
