Triple allows you to use different wing designs with the same fuselage. The wings of the Triple series are exchangeable and be employed to match the weather and your requirements.

This manuall covers the construction of the fuselage (sailplane and E versions) and three different wings. Please note that not all of the sections in this manual are relevant for your model. The colour-coded guide below will help you identify the sections that apply to your model.

For sailplane version see section 2 S.

Assemble horizontal formers R-03.1 to R-03.3 with former R-04 E and formers R-05 to R-09 and insert in notches in fuselage side. Do not glue! Check position and alignment of formers. Then remove, apply glue and glue to fuselage side and each other.

Glue in place the left fuselage side and secure with suitable weights.Leave to dry.

Note: If you build the E-version of the fuselage, glue two parts R-06 E to the back of R-06 and make sure the rectangular cut-outs of formers are properly aligned.

The fuselage sides are made up of a front (R-01, light ply) and a rear part (R-02, balsa). Glue parts together on a flat building board.

Insert formers R-15 to R-18 into fuselage sides, but do not glue! They are used to position balsa stripwood R-43 correctly. Glue stripwood to inside of both fuselage sides. Chamfer bottom stripwood R-43 between R-18 and fuselage end before you join fuselage sides.

This section is dedicated to the fuselage construction of the E-powered version. Whenever different parts or tequnices are required for building the sailplane fuselage, a special note will guide you to the corresponding section and building step.

Glue in place formers R-10, R-11 E and R-12 E. Make sure fuselage sides are absolutely symmetrical.

For the E-version use a 240 mm long piece of triangular to cut four pieces of R-13 (10 x 10 x 60 mm) to length and glue into corners of fuselage sides.

Turn the fuselage upside down and secure on building board with weights and pins.

Glue light ply parts R-14 E to the underside of formers R-06/R-06 E.

Into rear part of fuselage glue formers R-15 to R-17 and the V-tail support R-18 and secure with tape until dry.

Carefully check symmetry of fuselage sides.

Tip: Draw a straight line on the building board and use use small wood blocks or similar to align fuselage sides.

8 To the inside of fuselage sides and to the back of rear cockpit former glue magnet supports R-19. Centre R-19 over 8 mm holes for the retaining magnets used for wings and cabin.

Epoxy in place wing joiner sleeves R-26 and R-27 and sandflush with fuselage sides.

Sheet fuselage top with 1.5 mm balsa (R-29). Make sure, grain runs accross fuselage! When dry, roughly cut or sand sheeting material along fuselage sides.

Tip: Temporarily insert servo hatch cover R-24.1 to fit sheeting material precisely to front and rear end of hatch. Be careful not to damage sheeting material around hatch cover. Full strength of sheeting material is gained after covering material is applied.

In preparation for the next building step assemble and glue three hatch covers from parts R-24.1, R-24.2 and R-25.

Assemble and glue cabin from side panels R-20, formers R-21 and R-22 E as well as 1.5 mm balsa sheeting R-29. For best results this is done directly in the cockpit opening of the fuselage which is protected by cling film.

Note: Magnet support R-23 and magnets are glued in place after cabin has been thoroughly sanded and fitted in place.

Apply 1.5 mm balsa sheeting to bottom of fuselage. Temporarily insert hatch covers R-24.1 and R-24.2 in respecitve cut-outs in fuselage sides and glue in place R-24.3 between hatch covers.Secure fuselage on flat building board before sheeting is applied.

Hinweis: If you build the saiplane version of the fuselage, hatch coverR-24.2 can be glued in place.

Use a needle file to prepare exit points for snakes for a smooth exit. Route snakes R-28 through respective holes in formers and through exit points and gleu in place with epoxy.

Note: Snakes exit fuselage on opposite sides for reduced friciton.

Glue former R-30 E to the front of the fuselage. R-30 needs to be exactly centred on fuselage. Any surplus material will be sanded off later so that different spinner sizes can be fitted to the model.

Tip: If you already have the motor you want to use, attach motor to former, wrap a few layers of paper around its drum and slide it into the fulselage for proper position of former R-30 E. Depending on the motor´s diameter it may be necessary to cut out triangular stock to make room for the motor and cables.

Finally glue former R-41 E (1 mm birch ply) to the front of R-30 E, making sure that holes are exactly aligned.

Sand fuselage and cabin and round off the edges with a radius of 5 to 10 mm.

Sand nose of fuselage to the contour of circular front former R-41 E. Fit spinner to nose and sand nose to final shape. The triangular stock in the corners of the nose will allow you to sand off as much material as needed for a smooth transition from fuselage to spinner.

Glue magnet support R-19 and front tab R-23 into cabin. Then glue in place magnet R-36 with epoxy.

Check polarity of magnet before you glue corresponding magnet into former R-10.

The four magnets R-36 of the wing retaining system and the cabin retaining magnet are best glued in place after the model is corvered. Use epoxy for gluing.

First of all assemble the assebly jig and glue parts L-01 and L-02 to L-03. Place jig on an even surface and leave to dry.

Section III - V-Tail

Build up the control surfaces of the V-tail accordingly. Pin down L-11 on the building board and glue leading edge L-12 at rigth angles to L-11. In one go glue in place braces L-14 to L-16, trailing edge L-13 and tip L-17 and secure with pins.

When glue has dried, carefully sand V-tail components and round off edges. Bevel off front edges of control surfaces to allow for sufficient control throw.

Make sure you build a left and a right control surface!

Pin down L-04 on the building board and glue trailing edge L-05 at right angles to L-04.In one go glue in place braces L-07 to L-09, leading edge L-06 and tip L-10 and secure with pins.Glue reinforcements L-21 (spruce) into slots in L-05 and L-06 and sand flush when dry.

Tip: To avoid damage to V-tail parts you can secure parts by pinning scrap wood next to the parts so that they stay in position.

Protect the jig with cling film, place L-18 in jig and position V-tail parts.

To strengthen the joints, it is a good idea to bevel and in doing so enlarge the contact surfaces. Carefully fit V-tail panels to centre piece L-18, then glue with 5 minute epoxy.

Reinforcement L-20 is used to strengthen the V-tail joint. Carefully bevel edges of L-20 and fit in place, then glue with 5 minute epoxy.

23 Cover V-tail with the covering material of your choice. Attach control surfaces with tape. Do not cover underside of L-18 or remove covering material before you glue V-tail to fuselage.

Note: Control horns L-19 are glued in place after V-tail has been glued to fuselage and control linkage has been installed.

First of all assemble the assebly jig and glue parts L-01 and L-02 to L-03. Place jig on an even surface and leave to dry.

Section III - V-Tail

Build up the control surfaces of the V-tail accordingly. Pin down L-11 on the building board and glue leading edge L-12 at rigth angles to L-11. In one go glue in place braces L-14 to L-16, trailing edge L-13 and tip L-17 and secure with pins.

When glue has dried, carefully sand V-tail components and round off edges. Bevel off front edges of control surfaces to allow for sufficient control throw.

Make sure you build a left and a right control surface!

Pin down L-04 on the building board and glue trailing edge L-05 at right angles to L-04.In one go glue in place braces L-07 to L-09, leading edge L-06 and tip L-10 and secure with pins.Glue reinforcements L-21 (spruce) into slots in L-05 and L-06 and sand flush when dry.

Tip: To avoid damage to V-tail parts you can secure parts by pinning scrap wood next to the parts so that they stay in position.

Protect the jig with cling film, place L-18 in jig and position V-tail parts.

To strengthen the joints, it is a good idea to bevel and in doing so enlarge the contact surfaces. Carefully fit V-tail panels to centre piece L-18, then glue with 5 minute epoxy.

Reinforcement L-20 is used to strengthen the V-tail joint. Carefully bevel edges of L-20 and fit in place, then glue with 5 minute epoxy.

23 Cover V-tail with the covering material of your choice. Attach control surfaces with tape. Do not cover underside of L-18 or remove covering material before you glue V-tail to fuselage.

Glue in place aileron spar TS-28, aileron leading edge TS-29 as well as gussets TS-30 and TS-31. Insert servo tray TS-32 between ribs TS-16 and TS-17, flush with underside of ribs and against wing spar. Secure battery hatch cover with screw.On your transmitter chose a program that supports models with a V-tail and check direction and control throws of control surfaces. See the manual of your RC equiment for details.

Balance the completed model complete with battery. If necessary, move RC equipment to adjust centre of gravity. For electric flight install battery in compartment accessible through battery hatch cover. Ideal battery dimensions are 75 x 35 x 20 mm.
