Bayazhan, bir tütün tüccarı olan, Bayaz Ahmed Ağa tarafından ortağı ile birlikte, Halepli mimar ve taş ustalarına yaptırılmıştır. Yapımı 1904’te başlayıp 1909 yılında bitmiştir. İnşaat işleri ile bizzat Bayaz Ahmet Ağa ilgilenmiştir. İhracat ile ilgili olarak Mısır’a geliş gidişlerinde konakladığı Halep’teki, o yıllarda çok meşhur olan bir Han esin kaynağı olmuştur Bayazhan’a.

Birinci Dünya Savaşı sonrası İngilizler, Antep’i işgal ettiklerinde Bayazhan’ı, karargah olarak kullanmışlardır. Hanın bir bölümü ise Antep savunması yıllarında hapishane olarak kullanılmıştır.

Gaziantep’te ilk sinema filmi Bayazhan’ın büyük salonunda gösterilmiştir.

Bayaz Ahmed Ağa ‘nın 1919 yılında vefatından sonra Han’ın yarısı ailesine verilmiş, diğer yarısı ise uzun yıllar Tekel Baş Müdürlüğü tarafından kullanılmıştır. Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediye Başkanı Dr. Asım Güzelbey’in girişimleriyle 5.5.2005 tarihinde Belediye bünyesine geçirilmiş restorasyon çalışmalarına başlanmıştır. 2009 yılında Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyesi tarafından restorasyonu tamamlanan ve üst katı Gaziantep Kent Müzesi haline dönüştürülen Bayazhan’ın alt katı ise yaklaşık 6 ay süren bir çalışma sonucunda bir turizm merkezine dönüştürülmüştür.

Üst katı Gaziantep Kent Müzesi olan Bayazhan’ın, alt katı ise Bayaz Turizm A.Ş. tarafından 250 kişilik Restaurant, 140 kişilik Pub, 120 kişilik Meyhane, yazlık kokteyl ve özel yemekler için 300 metrekarelik Teras, 900 metrekarelik ortak kullanım alanı bulunan Avlu, 15 kişilik Asma Toplantı ve 50 kişilik Begonvil Toplantı Salonu, Çocuk Oyun Evi, 300 araç kapasitesine sahip otopark ve yöresel ürünlerin satıldığı satış birimleri bulunan bir tesis haline dönüştürülerek 2009 yılı Ağustos ayında kapılarını misafirlerine açmıştır.

Bayazhan was built by architect from Aleppo and Stone mason with the direction of Bayaz Ahmed Aga being a tobacco dealer and his partner. The construction started in 1904 and finished in 1909. Bayaz Ahmet Aga took care of the construction works. An inn in Aleppo he stayed when he went to Egypt for import, being very famous in those years is the inspiration source of Bayazhan. The British occupied Bayazhan as the headquarters when they invaded Antep following the World War I. A part of the inn was used as prison during the years of Antep defense for years. The first movie was displayed in the hall of Bayazhan in Gaziantep. The half of the inn was granted to the family of Bayaz Ahmed Aga upon his death in 1919 and the other half was occupied by general directorate of monopolies for long years. It was incorporated into the municipality on 5.5.2005 with the attempts of Dr. Asim Guzelbey, the mayor of Gaziantep metropolitan municipality and restoration works were initiated. Upstairs of Bayazhan restoration of which was completed in 2009 by Gaziantep metropolitan municipality was transformed into Gaziantep Kent Muzesi and the downstairs was transformed into a tourism center in the end of about 6-month work. The downstairs of Bayazhan, upstairs of which was transformed into Gaziantep Kent Muzesi was transformed into a facility comprising of 250-person restaurant, 140- person Pub, 120-person Meyhane, 300-square meter terrace for summer coctail and special dinners, atrium with 900 square meter common shared area, 15-person Asma meeting and 50-person Begonvil meeting hall, Kid playhouse, parking lot for 300 vehicles and sales units where local products are sold by Bayaz Turizm A.S and opened its door to the guests in August, 2009.
