Those who have been closely following our background might have held a 2008 Bioniconcatalogue in their hands. What has changed and how have we changed? The evolutioncan be seen in our daily work and development. We have intensively asked ourselves whyone should buy a Bionicon.Who are we? To try and express this we are using more pictures this year. Images of thepeople and the landscapes that surround the birthplace of Bionicon - Tegernsee. Mean-while Bionicon isn’t just in one spot but extends right around the globe. We see ourselves and our products in interdependence with our environment and you,the people who surround and trust us all over the world.
Everyone who is inspired by Bionicon is also interested in an all embracing, honest andtolerant view to life and it is exactly this approach which we try to reflect in our products. The products which we develop form a system in which the sum of the individualcomponents and innovations is greater than that of the parts themselves. Put simply thebest rear derailleur in the world achieves nothing if bolted to a poorly conceived wholeconcept.

You can see the passion for mountainbiking in all our products. They are created by people who love biking, be it the feeling of glidingover leaf covered trails, conquering mountain peaks or just soakingup nature. Ours is a sport of feelings and shared triumphs withfriends, yet it is also a sport where equipment plays a crucial role.
Experience shows that riders are shaped by the environment inwhich they spend the most time. We have designed our product linein order to do justice to the huge variety of nature, people and ridingstyles. Everyone can find the ideal bike in our range. We describe thechoice of bike by the rider as the basic needs and expand these withour unique Bionicon geometry adjustment system. This radicallyincreases the range of use for all of our full suspension bikes andmakes our product superior to anything else on the market.

Innovation verpflichtet
Innovation is obligation
Riding a Bionicon means cultivating a culture of innovation.Innovation means new, uncertain and exciting. Ground breaking innovations change both markets and lives. We created such an innovation with our geometry adjustment system. To rest on our laurels would, however, be impossible!
We nourish innovation as a culture which can be found in all of our products.
It isn’t just about the best inventions but rather to create and combine continuous developments in every area of the bike. With an in-house development ratio of 60% of the whole bike Bionicon has the highest degree of innovation depth in the entire bike industry. We see our bikes as integrated concepts in which the interaction of individual parts can be permanently improved upon. Always within the ideals of Bionicon lean engineering: simplicity, maintenance friendly and high performance.

Classic, elegant tubesets, supple yet strong - just like the Willow shoots which in-spired its name. The slightly stretched position is perfect for long rides and steep climbs. The frame construction is geared for maximum robustness and durability. The suspension system is firm which guarantees a settled chassis whilst standing.

Al-Li-Scandium is the hardest aluminum alloy made; perfect for fighter jets and Space Shuttle fuel tanks. Using this material we can save 300 g weight from a frame front triangle compared to the standard Golden Willow. Extensive CNC details in the frame and linkage underpin the high-tech materials and help to save further weight. The Golden Willow SC with a mid level groupset weighs just 27.5 lbs.

THOMAS ALVA EDISON
With the new Edison we present the fourth evolution of our original bike design. Complex hydro-formed seat stays intersect with the downtube supporting the rear shock mount whilst simultaneously ensuring that loads applied to the frame are evenly distributed. The tube profiles are constructed to allow consistent flex charac-teristics offering greater riding leeway and confidence.

The classic bike, in whiteThe idea of satisfying all mountainbikers with just one bike was the dream which led to the invention of the Bionicon system. The Edison is the basis for this concept.Making a universal frame for every biker is probably impossible. The personal needs of each and every rider simply occupy too great a spectrum. However, creating the Edison concept has almost banished the problem to the wilderness.

A 29 lb bike with the suspension chassis of a freerider. The “wonder child” of the backcountry range. This bike will shuttle you up every climb. 160mm (6.3”) of rear travel, 150 mm (6”) at the fork and uniform flex throug-hout the entire bike guarantee pure riding fun on every trail. The frame and rear sus-pension system are inspired by its big brother, the Ironwood. The shorter swing-arm makes the Supershuttle nimble in spite of its astonishing balance.

The Doubleagent TA 170 is the result of the decision to make a “light” freerider based on the Supershuttle. The linear coil/air spring combination produces a supple and sensitive stroke over the entire suspension travel, perfectly complementing the linear rear suspension. Damping of the 6.7” (170mm) travel is by a hydraulic rebound cartridge. The spec is rounded out with a 22/36 double chainring and the robust Supra BH rims.

If you’ve become accustomed to having 8” of suspension travel but don’t want to restrict yourself to lifts and pre-shaped downhills, you’ve just found the ultimate bike. Behind every mountain is an even better descent,…even if you’ve used a lift. Two victories at the Lake Garda Enduro Challenge have proven that Enduro doesn’t stop at 6” (160mm) and that with the Bionicon system there are simply no limits to your riding.

Race bikes are made for winning alone and present our development team with a completely different challenge than creating comfort orientated, full suspension bikes. Rigidity, weight and riding position are the crucial factors in winning a marathon or mountain time trial. Following three years of intensive study and dialogue with our team riders we choose an uncompromising hardtail as the perfect race weapon. The ideal frame material for such a machine is Scandium – even following a crash resulting in frame damage, the rider can safely finish the race. Most off-road race courses are hardtail orientated. For races like the Transalp, TransRockies etc our team riders will choose the Scandium framed Golden Willow SC.

Gewinnen ohne Kompromisse, keine Verluste hinnehmen.
Winning without compromise, accept no defeat. With a 1.3 kg (2.3lb) hardtail frame made from Scandium alloy and a 9.5 kg (20.9 lb) complete bike weight the Frequency exceeds every rival. The Frequency is available with two different specifications, the advantages over a comparable composite frame lie in its durability and safety. An aluminium frame can never hide the danger of sudden failure or similar risks.

With the 0 specification the Golden Willow SC is the perfect weapon for the Transalp racer who wishes to take complete advantage of a full suspension bike.
A race bike which has the geometry of a pure competition hardtail in the uphill position yet offers the 100% traction of an active suspension system and thanks to our system-typical KPP-effect is almost completely bob free! Press the button and the climbing machine transforms into a downhill capable all rounder allowing the tired racer to relax those overstrained muscles.

Our mountainbikes are designed for off-road terrain, performance machines for enjoying nature. When commuting to work or visiting friends you won’t be thinking about finishing a training run. More likely you just want to get from a to b avoiding traffic jams and do so with a stylish, functional bike. We’ve been observing city dwellers in their chosen habitat and have identified two breeds of cyclist. One wants to get to work, college or school as quickly as possible with the least amount of effort and sweat produced. The other needs a cargo mule to transport heavy stuff (in Bavaria this means crates of beer). We developed the Urban Road and Urban Cargo to meet these needs. But it’s not just city people who are different from one another; each city itself has a unique topography and infrastructure. The common enominator is the queue of cars and it is this which feeds us with new ideas for metro cycling.

What is faster than a racing bike? For speedy transportation to work without traffic jams or parking stress, or for the detour via the swimming pool there’s no more effective tool than a racing bike.
The time trial inspired handlebars are comfortable and give great handling at high speeds. A unique combination of bar end gear levers and powerful brakes guarantees quick shifting and braking. The classic steel frame can be fitted with mudguards and carriers.
