Bladesingers are elves who have blended art, swordplay, and arcane magic into a harmonious whole. In battle, a bladesinger’s lithe movements and subtle tactics seem beautiful, belying their deadly martial efficiency. Bladesingers have a treasured place in elf society, balancing the joys of art and magic with the skill of masterful fighting, and so bladesingers are well-respected by other elves. They usually serve as itinerant guardians and champions of the elf community at large rather than tying themselves to one particular settlement. Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A bladesinger is proficient in simple weapons and in a single one-handed martial or exotic bladed melee weapon of his choice. A bladesinger is not proficient with armor or shields and suffers normal arcane spell failure chance when casting magus spells while armored. Diminished Spellcasting: A bladesinger may cast one fewer spell of each level than normal. If this reduces the number to 0, he may cast spells of that level only if his Intelligence allows bonus spells of that level. Bladesong (Ex): At 1st level, when a bladesinger is wielding his chosen weapon, he gains the canny defense ability. This is identical to the duelist prestige class ability of the same name, save that his chosen weapon may be of any type. Weapon Focus (Ex): At 1st level, a bladesinger gains Weapon Focus with his chosen weapon as a bonus feat. Fighter Training (Ex): Starting at 7th level, a bladesinger counts his magus level -3 as his fighter level for the purpose of qualifying for feats (if he has levels in fighter, these levels stack), but forfeits the benefit of such feats with weapons other than his favored weapon. This ability replaces knowledge pool. Lesser Spellsong (Ex): At 7th level, a bladesinger when wielding his chosen weapon in one hand (and nothing in the other), the bladesinger can take 10 when making a Concentration check to cast defensively. This ability replaces medium armor. Greater Spellsong (Ex): At 13th level, a bladesinger gains proficiency with light armor. A bladesinger can cast magus spells while wearing light armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. Like any other arcane spellcaster, a bladesinger wearing medium armor, heavy armor, or using a shield incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component. This ability replaces heavy armor. Song of Fury (Ex): At 16th level, when wielding his chosen weapon in one hand (and nothing in the other) and using the full attack action, the bladesinger can make one extra attack in a round at her highest base attack, but this attack and each other attack made that round take a –2 penalty. This penalty applies for 1 round, so it affects attacks of opportunity the bladesinger might make before her next action. This ability replaces counterstrike. Weapon Mastery (Ex): At 20th level, a bladesinger gains weapon mastery with his favored weapon, as the fighter class ability. This ability replaces true magus. Magus Arcana: The following magus arcana complement the bladesinger archetype: accurate strike, concentrate, critical strike, hasted assault, quickened magic, still magic, spell shield.

Bladesingers are elves who have blended art, swordplay, and

arcane magic into a harmonious whole. In battle, a bladesinger’s

lithe movements and subtle tactics seem beautiful, belying their

deadly martial efficiency. Bladesingers have a treasured place in

elf society, balancing the joys of art and magic with the skill of

masterful fighting, and so bladesingers are well-respected by

other elves. They usually serve as itinerant guardians and

champions of the elf community at large rather than tying

themselves to one particular settlement.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A bladesinger is proficient in

simple weapons and in a single one-handed martial or exotic

bladed melee weapon of his choice. A bladesinger is not

proficient with armor or shields and suffers normal arcane spell

failure chance when casting magus spells while armored.

Diminished Spellcasting: A bladesinger may cast one fewer

spell of each level than normal. If this reduces the number to 0,

he may cast spells of that level only if his Intelligence allows

bonus spells of that level.

Bladesong (Ex): At 1st level, when a bladesinger is wielding his

chosen weapon, he gains the canny defense ability. This is

identical to the duelist prestige class ability of the same name,

save that his chosen weapon may be of any type.

Weapon Focus (Ex): At 1st level, a bladesinger gains Weapon

Focus with his chosen weapon as a bonus feat.

Fighter Training (Ex): Starting at 7th level, a bladesinger counts

his magus level -3 as his fighter level for the purpose of qualifying

for feats (if he has levels in fighter, these levels stack), but forfeits

the benefit of such feats with weapons other than his favored

weapon. This ability replaces knowledge pool.

Lesser Spellsong (Ex): At 7th level, a bladesinger when wielding

his chosen weapon in one hand (and nothing in the other), the

bladesinger can take 10 when making a Concentration check to

cast defensively. This ability replaces medium armor.

Greater Spellsong (Ex): At 13th level, a bladesinger gains

proficiency with light armor. A bladesinger can cast magus spells

while wearing light armor without incurring the normal arcanespell failure chance. Like any other arcane spellcaster, a

bladesinger wearing medium armor, heavy armor, or using a

shield incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in

question has a somatic component. This ability replaces heavy

armor.

Song of Fury (Ex): At 16th level, when wielding his chosen

weapon in one hand (and nothing in the other) and using the full

attack action, the bladesinger can make one extra attack in a

round at her highest base attack, but this attack and each other

attack made that round take a –2 penalty. This penalty applies

for 1 round, so it affects attacks of opportunity the bladesinger

might make before her next action. This ability replaces

counterstrike.

Weapon Mastery (Ex): At 20th level, a bladesinger gains

weapon mastery with his favored weapon, as the fighter classability. This ability replaces true magus.

Magus Arcana: The following magus arcana complement the

bladesinger archetype: accurate strike, concentrate, critical

strike, hasted assault, quickened magic, still magic, spell shield.
