Kepelbagaian khazanah sumber semula jadi negara beserta
asimilasi pengetahuan tradisi warisan masyarakat majmuk
merupakan aset yang tidak ternilai pada era bio-ekonomi kini.
Penterjemahan penemuan R&D yang berinovasi dalam hal ini
amat perlu bagi memangkinkan penciptaan dan penghasilan
produk-produk hasilan semula jadi yang berkualiti, selamat
dan berefikasi seiring dengan tuntutan pasaran dan piawaian
global semasa. Justeru, menerusi dokongan inisiatif R, D&C
yang menyeluruh, industri berteraskan hasilan semula jadi
amnya dan industri tumbuhan ubatan dan beraroma khusus-
nya bukan sahaja mampu diperkasa malah dipacu dan dilon-
jakkan pencapaiannya ke persada antarabangsa. Seminar
Tumbuhan Ubatan dan Beraroma 2012 (MAPS-13) yang
bertemakan “Menterjemah inisiatif R, D&C hasilan semula jadi
sejajar dengan Program Transformasi Ekonomi” ini diadakan
bertujuan untuk mewujudkan satu platform untuk para penye-
lidik, ahli akademik, pihak pengusaha, pembuat polisi dan pi-
hak berkepentingan untuk berkongsi penemuan dan pengala-
man mereka ke arah usaha bersepadu bagi memajukan pen-
yelidikan dan industri hasilan semula jadi.
The immense diversity of local bio-resources in addition to the assimi-
lated pot-pouri of traditional knowledge inherited from our multiracial
ancestors have been recognised as an invaluable asset in the bio-
economy era. The translation of these innovative R&D outputs, would
therefore catalyse the creation and production of high quality, safe and
efficacious natural-based products in meeting the current market de-
mand and global standards. Strongly driven by the holistic R, D&C
initiatives, the local natural product-based industries in general and
herbal industries in particular would be empowered and positioned
internationally. Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Seminar 2012 (MAPS-
13) with a theme of “Translating Natural Products R, D&C Initiatives in-
line with Economic Transformation Programme” is held to provide a
platform in which researchers, academicians, entrepreneurs, policy
makers and stakeholders can share their discovery and experiences
towards a greater concerted effort for the advancement of research
and industry in natural products.
