ACTIVITY PROFILE:

The Coalition for Better Education joined the Department of Education (DepEd) in a week-long

activity on “Brigada Eskwela” from May 18-23, 2015 at Tayud National High School, Tayud,

Consolacion, Cebu.

In line with DepEd’s mission to provide safe and clean learning spaces for Filipino learners -

Brigada Eskwela also known as “National Schools Maintenance Week” is an activity that engages

all education stakeholders to contribute their time, effort and resources in ensuring that public

school facilities are prepared in time for the forthcoming school opening.

Carrying the theme “Tayo Para sa Kalinisan, Kaligtasan at Kahandaan ng ating mga Paaralan,”

the Brigada Eskwela is aimed at preparing schools for the coming school year and promote

volunteerism among the members of the community.

ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS:

Parents, teachers, students and all other education stakeholders, as well the private sector

volunteered for this year’s “Brigada”.

This year, the CBE Medal of Excellence Awardees for 2015 composed of Education graduates

from different colleges and universities in Cebu participated in the Brigada Eskwela as their way

of supporting CBE’s mission to Creating Empowered Learning Communities. They gave their

time and effort by helping in the repainting of classrooms, fixing of damaged school furniture

and equipment and doing general maintenance and upkeeping of school grounds.

Six (6) Awardees accompanied by two CBE staff offered their skills, and shared their time to

provide support to this year’s Brigada Eskwela school beneficiary, the Tayud National High

School, an adopted school of the Coalition for Better Education.
