石巻市復興まちづくり情報交流館・北上館 Ishinomaki Community ＆ Info Center in Kitakami

2011年3月11日に発生した津波によって、 北上地区では死者が201人、行方不明者67人、全壊家屋は633棟に及びました。 北上川の河口に広がるよし原は北上地区の象徴です(上)。別名「葦(あし)」ともいわれ、日本の音風景100選にも選ばれています。 被災地の復興事業として、にっこり地区を中心に北上地域全体で生活拠点づくりが進んでいます(左)。 In Kitakami area, 201 people were killed, 67 people went missing, and 633 houses were totally destroyed by the tsunami of March 11, 2011. Yoshi Hara, reed fields, in the mouth of Kitakami River are the symbol of Kitakami area. “Yoshi” is also called “ashi,” and Yoshi Hara was chosen as one of the 100 best soundscapes in Japan. 施設理念 About lshinomaki Community & Info Center

東日本大震災（平成2 3 年3 月1 1日に発生した東北地方太平洋沖地震による災害をいう。以下「震災」とい

う）からの復旧及び復興事業の進捗又は地域におけるまちづくりの取組に関する情報並びに震災から得た知識及び教訓を発信し、震災により被害を受けた市民同士の意見交換又は来訪者との交流の場を創出するため、石巻市復興まちづくり情報交流館を設置する。 lshinomaki Community & Info Center (ICIC) was constructed after the Great East Japan Earthquake and subsequent tsunami of March 11th 2011 with the following aims: to act as an information resource regarding lshinomaki itself and lessons learned from the disaster, as well as providing information about the progress of post-disaster reconstruction efforts; to provide a meeting place for members of the local community to exchange ideas, particularly those affected by the disaster ; and to be a convenient focus for visitors from further afield to learn about the disaster and interact with the community.

北上地区を中心とした復興事業の進捗状況やまちづくりに関する地域情報、地域のなりわいなどをパネルや映像によって発信しています。 交流スペースの設置により、地域住民や来訪者が集い交流できる場所です。 Kitakami Center supplies information about the progress of reconstruction work mainly in Kitakami area. It also has local information about rebuilding the community, and livelihoods in the area, with images and graphic panels. It has a meeting space where local people and visitors can get together.

ロードパーク慰霊碑 東日本大震災時に北上地区で亡くなった方々の名前と年齢が、地域ごとに記されています。 Road Park Memorial Monument The names and ages of the people of the Kitakami area who died in the Great East Japan Earthquake are written on the monument, grouped by region.

神割崎 大きな岩が2つに割れた様子で、大自然を体で感じられます。 Kamiwari-zaki We can feel the wonder of Mother Nature through our entire bodies when we see this enormous boulder split in two.

釣石神社 津波で被災しましたが、社殿が再建されました（上）。 上方にある大石が地震でも落ちなかった釣石で、受験生の訪れるパワー・スポットです（左）。 Tsuri-ishi Shrine This shrine suffered severe damage from the tsunami, but the main building was rebuilt. (above) Tsuri-ishi, a big rock seen in the upper part of the photo, didn’t fall down in the earthquake. This rock is a power spot visited by many students preparing for entrance examinations. (left)

鹿嶋神社 白浜ビーチにあります。津波で流失したので仮の社殿に安置されています。ビールがお供えされてきたことから、別名「ビール神社」とも呼ばれています。 Kashima Shrine Kashima Shrine in Shirahama Beach was washed away by the tsunami, and now is a temporary shrine. It is also called the “Beer Shrine” because it has a custom of offering beer to the gods.

よしの紙すき体験ができます（上）。出来上がったよし紙（右）。

地域の交流の場ともなっていて、神楽の練習も行われています。
