    100 Hour Inspection

    INITIAL 100 HOUR INSPECTIONREFERENCESECTION REMARKS

    1. Inspect the engine for obviousloose bolts, broken or loose con-nections, security of mounting ac-cessories, and broken or missingsafeties. Check accessible areasfor obvious damage and evidenceof fuel and oil leakage. Check B--nuts for presence and alignmentof torque stripes. B--nuts withmissing torque stripes must beloosened and retightened beforeapplication of new torque stripes.

    2. Inspect the compressor impellerleading edges for damage.

    72--30--00,PARA 4.B.

    3. Clean the compressor, as re-quired, with a chemical washsolution if dirt buildup is evident.

    72--30--00,PARA 5.B.

    4. Without disassembly, inspect theturbine and exhaust collector sup-ports for condition of weldedjoints, cracks and buckling.

    72--50--00,PARA 5.K.and PARA7.B.

    5. Carefully inspect fuel system forevidence of leakage. Check fit-tings for torque and security andtubing for conditions that couldcontribute to leakage (loose, chafed, cracked, bent, ordented). Check and correct ob-vious tube--to--fitting misalign-ment. Check fuel control forproper rigging; check lever forfreedom of travel; ensure that le-ver contacts both stops, and thatlinkage bolts are free of exces-

    sive wear.

    73--00--00PARA 2.A.,Fuel LeakageInspection

If there is no evidence of leakage, further action is not required. Ifevidence of leakage is found, iso-late and repair leak.

    6. Inspect the engine mounts forcondition and security.

    INITIAL 100 HOUR INSPECTIONREFERENCESECTION REMARKS

    7. Detailed visual inspection of outercombustion case using a brightlight (flashlight or equivalent), in-spect all weld areas for cracks.

    72--40--00,PARA 2.B.(1)

    8. Inspect electrical harness forloose, chafed, frayed, or brokenwires and loose connectors.

CAUTION: NORMAL ENGINES USE A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF OIL. HOWEVER,ANY SUDDEN INCREASE IN OIL CONSUMPTION IS INDICATIVE OFOIL SYSTEM PROBLEMS AND MUST BE CORRECTED.

    9. Check oil supply level. 72--00--00,Table 101,Trouble--shooting.

If the engine has been idle formore than 15 minutes, motor theengine for 30 seconds to scav-enge any oil that may havedrained into the gearbox from the

oil tank. Failure to completelyscavenge the oil from the gearboxwill cause a false indication ofhigh oil consumption.

NOTE: Check oil supply level within 15 minutes of engine shutdown.

    10. Inspect for extension of impend-ing oil filter bypass indicator. Ifindicator is extended, clean oil fil-ter.

    72--60--00,PARA 1.C.

It is possible for the impending oilfilter bypass indicator to extendduring a start of a cold soakedengine, giving an erroneous in-dication of a dirty oil filter. If theimpending filter bypass indicatoris extended, run the engine untilthe oil is at operating temperatureand push the indicator button in.If the button remains in through-out the normal speed range of theengine, the filter does not requirecleaning.

CAUTION: WHEN THERE IS EVIDENCE THAT THE FUEL FILTER HAS BEEN BYPASSED, THE GAS PRODUCER FUEL CONTROL INLET FILTER ANDTHE FUEL NOZZLE FILTER, MUST BE CLEANED. (REFER TO SPE-CIAL INSPECTIONS, 72--20--00, TABLE 608) IF ANY CONTAMI-NATION IS FOUND IN THE FUEL NOZZLE FILTER, THIS WILL RE-QUIRE THAT THE FUEL CONTROL BE SENT TO AN AUTHORIZEDREPAIR FACILITY FOR INTERNAL CLEANING. REFERENCE MUSTALSO BE MADE TO THE AIRFRAME MAINTENANCE MANUAL FORFUEL SYSTEM MAINTENANCE FOLLOWING FUEL CONTAMI-NATION.

    11. Inspect for extension of impend-ing fuel filter bypass indicator.

    73--10--05,PARA 2.

If indicator is extended, replacefuel filter.

    73--20--02,PARA 5.A.

Inspect the fuel filter in the fuelcontrol and in the fuel nozzle.Ground run engine to assureproper operation of control sys-tem.

11.A Clean and inspect the fuel nozzle. 73--10--03 Install fuel nozzle with proper

    number of spacers.

    12. Record component changes, inspections, and compliance withtechnical instructions as required.Report engine difficulties toRolls--Royce and/or AuthorizedMaintenance Center (AMC) onModel 250 Report, Form 8117--1(Rev. 5--94) as required.

    13. Without disassembly, check thecompressor discharge air tubes.

Inspect for air leaks, dents, cracks, chafing, and properclamping.

    72--40--00,Table 203.

    14. Inspect compressor scroll forcracks. Pay particular attention towelded areas.

    15. Clean the burner drain valve. 72--40--00,PARA 3.

Ensure that the airframeoverboard is clear. Refer toaircraft manual for maintenanceprocedures.

    16. Inspect the anti--icing andoverspeed solenoid valves forloose, chafed, frayed or brokenwires, loose connections andsecurity of attachment.

    17. Inspect the horizontal and verticalfirewall shields for cracks.

    72--50--00,PARA 5.J.

NOTE: Continued sheet metal ortube cracking may be anindication of excessive engine, engine accessory or airframevibration.

    18. Check fuel control for properrigging.

    73--20--02,PARA 2.C.

    19. On power and accessory gearboxcover, check the applied torqueon all turbine and exhaustcollector support--to--gearboxretaining nuts.

    72--50--00,PARA 1.B.

Torque must be 120--150 lb in.(14--17 N.m). Compliance with250 CEB--72--3017 cancels thisperiodic inspection requirement.

    Flow

Compare with previous flow. Anylarge deviation could indicatecarbon buildup.

    72--50--00,PARA 5.E.

While motoring N1 to 16--18%,the minimum flow is 90 cc in 15seconds.

    24. Drain the oil system and refill.

    limit.

NOTE: With an STC approvedexternal scavenge filter, the oilchange interval is 300 hours orsix months.

NOTE: The hour and calendarlimit can be extended to 600hours or 12 months if an externaloil filter of a type that has a validSTC (Supplemental TypeCertificate) is installed on the

engine and if there is use of anapproved high thermal stability oil(Third Generation).
