Former CBS Student Deputy Head Prefect 2016

Swimming Pool Keys

There are still keys available to

purchase for the swimming pool,

for use over the summer

between 18 December and mid

March 2016.

The cost of the key will be $80.00

and there are limited numbers of

keys available. Keys will be given

on a ‘first come - first served’

basis once payment has been

received.

FOCBS Meeting

The final meeting of the year of Friends of Campbells Bay School will take place

at 2.00pm on Thursday 26 November in the staffroom. The main item on the

agenda is putting the finishing touches to the planning of the activities that will

be provided for our school community on the evening of the end of year

concerts. You are all welcome to attend this meeting.

Book Week is next week Monday 30 November - Friday 4 December.

We still need three more parent volunteers on Wednesday 2 December from

9.30 – 11.00am, which is our busy Grandparents visits day.

Wednesday 2 December is Grandparents’ Morning

(If you don’t have a grandparent nearby, it is also a ‘Special Person Morning’).

Our school is celebrating books and reading during Book Week. Your

grandchildren would like to invite you to a special grandparents’ morning on

Wednesday 2 December from 9:15am until 11:00am, morning tea included.

Book Week Character Parade

The grand finale to Book Week is the Book Character Parade held on Friday 4

December. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite character

from their favourite book. The parade will be held on the courts outside the hall

at the following times:

9:15am Year 3/4

9:45am Year 0/1/2

10:15am Year 5/6

All parents and caregivers are most welcome but it is not compulsory! If it is

raining the parade will be relocated to the school hall with limited space for an

audience :(

Friends of Campbells Bay

School (FOCBS) Coordinator

Position Available (Paid)

A paid (fixed term) position has

been created for 2016 to help

ensure FOCBS is a focus for

parent/caregivers of the school’s

community so parent/caregivers

participation is increased as they

become involved in assisting with

the organisation of FOCBS events

throughout the year.

In essence, the FOCBS

Coordinator will be responsible for

leading this organisation while

providing numerous opportunities

for members of our school

community to become involved

with FOCBS.

It is anticipated the coordinator

will work, an average of eight to

ten hours per week (term time

only), reporting to the principal.

The last day to issue library books this year is Wednesday 25 November.

Latest Additions to Room One

Campbells Bay Community Forest 2015

Campbells Bay School is very grateful to the school community and local residents for supporting the weeding and

upkeep sessions for the forest held during 2015. The children love contributing and being in the forest, so the weed cover

has been reduced markedly. Thank you to the parents and teachers for their enthusiasm, making the weeding project

easier.

Richard Hursthouse (one of the originators of the forest) and other outside agencies have been working to help rid the

forest of persistent plant pests, and this has helped greatly.

Thank you everybody for your help, and in 2016 we will continue the good work .The school appreciates the effort made.

CBS Choir Performs in Town Hall

Our CBS APPA Choir performed at the Auckland Primary Principals’ Association 75th Music Festival at the Auckland

Town Hall on Wednesday evening. They were part of a stunning evening that showcased the enormous talent and vitality

that is music in schools across Auckland. Thanks to Jenny Watt, our choir leader for this choir and to everybody from

CBS who participated, including the wonder CBS dancers under the direction of Nicole Rowland. Pictured below right,

Rhythmic Gymnastics

Well done to all the fabulous girls who competed in the interschool rhythmic

gymnastics competition last Wednesday!

You have been working so hard the last two terms and you did such a fantastic job

with your routines! :)

Waterwise Regatta

CONGRATULATIONS to this year’s Regatta team scooping three of the four trophies up for grabs.

Competition was fierce at Lake Pupuke last Thursday against Takapuna Primary, Forrest Hill Primary and Milford

Primary.

Emma Houliston won Top Girl Kayaker. Benjamin Brighouse won Top Boy Kayaker and the boys’ sailing team made

up of Rensei Shimoyama, Zac Manning and Cameron Kemp cleaned up their

sailing race.

The girls’ sailing team had a tough race with Lucy Leith, Freya Caisley and Zoe

Meacher showing great sportsmanship.

Well done also to Tessa Rouse, Taylor Helm, Declan Pickstock and Maz

Christopherson for outstanding effort and thank you to all the parents for their

support.

Excellent Achievement at St Johns Ambulance for CBS Students

Ryan (room 22) and Maya (room 9) Russell were the winners of some amazing

awards at St John’s Youth Division Prize giving for the East Coast Bays recently.

Ryan won the Pride of Uniform Award for his standard of uniform maintenance and

appearance for the entire year, along with a Participation Award for his junior

Penguins Division.

Maya won her badge for Drill as part of the Grand Prior’s Award Scheme. There are

about 90 cadets in the division out of which Maya and Ryan both did exceptionally

well throughout the year to be recognized at the annual prize giving.

On behalf of Campbells Bay School, congratulations Ryan and Maya for your

achievements and for your ‘Not self but service’ attitude to our community.
