“EXCELLING EXCELLENCE ”going beyond boundaries” - AWARDS GALORE AT ISEF 2014

The premises of our school were abuzz with excitement on the early morning of 17.05.2014. The previous night had brought amazing news from the INTERNATIONAL shores which elevated spirits and rekindled joy among administration, staff and students alike. DAKSH DUA and ABHISHEK VERMA who represented their school and India at the INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR 2014 at LOS ANGELES, U.S.A. were loaded with awards. After receiving rave reviews from the world’s best scientific brains for their project “Rubus ellipticus: an effective natural solution against giardiasis”at the presentation, the project went on to win three prestigious awards at the Grand Award Ceremony-the Intel ISEF Best of Category Award of $5,000; Intel ISEF First Award of $3,000 and the Intel Foundation Cultural and Scientific Visit to China Award. Thus, the duo has won for themselves $8000 and apart from this $1000 for the school. This is the highest achievement for any Indian student at the ISEF till now. The aspiring scientists will also have their names etched in space forever with a minor planet being named after them. . An elated Principal Mrs Punam Gupta and Vice Principal Mrs Anita Kukreti congratulated the budding scientists and their guide teacher Ms Ritu Gupta who envisioned it all. The jubilations continued with Daksh Dua being paid a glowing tribute by developinginnovations.org, a Canada-based organization that promotes STEM ( Science Technology Engineering Maths) at international level. Knowing the amount of hard work the trio of the guide teacher and two students had put in for taking the project to these heights, everyone was gushing only these words: “All great achievements have one thing in common – people with a passion to succeed.”

The educational trip to Singapore along with teacher guides- Mrs Jyoti Aggarwal, Mrs Rita Ratna and

Mr Gautam (Scouts & Guide Teacher)- proved to be an enriching experience. The cross cultural exchange with Bedok North Secondary School, resonates our School’s

vision and mission of nurturing young minds to grow into globally sensitive citizens. Our students’ interaction with

the Vice Principal and students of the school added a new dimension to their ideals and perceptions. The visit to

Singapore city, Sentosa Island, Universal Studios, Garden by the Bay and the Night Safari was loads of fun,

refreshing and enlightening while the trip to the Singapore Science Centre left the students awe-struck at the wonders of science. The students returned rejuvenated from this

pleasurable educational trip. Undoubtedly, the cross cultural exchange engendered in our students a global

outlook and an appreciation of diversity which would have a lifelong Impact.

SCHOOL AS A FAMILY-CLASS 1 A i (15-5-14) : School is a second home for children. To make it a comfortable place for them to

learn and grow, not only the school authorities, teaching staff but also the supporting staff plays a vital role. To make this concept clear to the students, they

were taken around the school to meet and interview the other valuable subordinate members of the institution. Students interacting with them and

knowing how each and everyone in our lives, institution and society as a whole, has his/her own importance of work and support.

ADITYA GOEL OF CLASS 2A-I CBSE-I participated in 9TH DELHI STATE LEVEL UCMAS ABACUS &MENTAL ARITHMETIC COMPETITION 2014 at St. Columbus School , Delhi and won THE CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE and TROPHY as SECURED CHAMPION POSITION in the order of merit(KG3/2 GROUP B1) .He also got Rs. 1100 as cash prize.

MOTHER’S DAY “A mother is the truest friend …..today and always!!!!

The mother is the first and the best friend a child can ever have. Thus, for the topic ‘ Friends’, Mother’s Day seemed the most appropriate time to reflect on the importance of mothers in their lives and understand that

no one else but a Mother is and will always be their BEST FRIEND. The students paid a tribute to their mothers thanked her for being a constant guiding force in their life in their own innocent ways. Mothers were

pampered on the day and were loaded with love, self created greeting cards and gifts.

EXCURSION : (17 APRIL 2014) Our kids spend way too much time with electronic media be it television, games, tablets and not many of our activities as a family include nature and its wonders. So the school planned an outing to Joginder Nursery, to let the kids explore nature and plants. The excursion was an extension of learning beyond the classroom as getting to know about trees and caring about them is a part of their SEWA Project. Children not only paid a visit to the nursery, they also enjoyed collecting valuable items of interest such as pebbles, dried flowers, barks etc. They were also guided to attempt some interesting to reinforce the learning activities after the visit.

Childhood is not a race to see how quickly a child can read, write and count. Childhood is a small window of time to learn and develop at the pace which is right for each individual child.

RHYME TIME: Reciting poems and rhymes are very important for the development of children as it improves vocabulary skills and helps in cognitive development. Children when memorize and recite poetry , they learn a wide range of descriptive words . Actions and expressions help in the gross motor and fine motor develop-ment. Keeping the same goal and objective in mind, an Intra Class Poetry Recitation Competition English and Hindi was held in which the students participated with great fervor and enthusiasm. The details of the winners are as follows: ENGLISH POETRY RECITATION RESULTS: I : Harshita Goel II : Navya Sama III : Himal Garg

HINDI POETRY RECITATION RESULTS: I: आ द य गोयल

Agarsainians are successfully collaborating with the students of the world. They are connecting with the students around the globe via emails, skpe etc. Through Cambridge Pen friends our students have got associated with the pupils of Zachariou Foreign

Languages, Piraeus, Greece and had a skype session with them. Students enjoyed sharing their ideas with their pen pals and were overwhelmed to ask

questions and answer the questions asked by their friends related to their culture, traditions, country, language, clothing, festivals, sports and global issues and concerns such as global warming, climate etc. After the skype session , the involved Agarsainians recorded their learning and expressed their views in their feedback forms. The session helped sensitize our young and enthusiastic learners about their responsibilities as Global Citizens. KEEP GOING .....MAPS!!!!

CULTURE IN A BOX Working together towards a common goal, broadening horizons and gaining

intercultural experience - cross-border school projects provide teachers and students a unique opportunity to extend the perspectives of their normal

learning and working lives and to develop a variety of skills. With the aim of developing international perspectives, improvement of communication abilities, and the promotion of intercultural, social and personal skills, learners of MAPS

are involved in international projects like email exchange etc. The Blooming Buds of CBSE 3A-i are currently engaged in an international project-

CULTURE IN A BOX. The project involves the exchange of cultural boxes between INDIA and SOUTH KOREA, wherein the kids exchange the artefacts of their country. The cultural box from SOUTH KOREA elicited excitement

and joy among our young learners who are equally enthusiastic and keen to send their cultural box to SOUTH KOREA in JULY.
