    The transfer of genes or DNA plays an important role in genetic engineering.

    For instance, gene from humans can be transferred to bacterial cells. Once

    inside the bacteria, these human gene control the bacterial cells. This causes

    the bacteria to synthesise something they would not normally make in nature.For example, bacteria can produce human insulin.
