Inland Lakes to three

hits as Habasco earned

the win.

big blow for the Rambler

that helped give Boyne

some breathing room.

CARO — The Radyer

baseball team improved to

15-5 on the season, defeat-

ing host Caro, 10-6 in the

opener before falling in the

championship contest to

Cass City, 11-8 on May 10.

The loss to Cass City

snapped a seven game win-

ning streak that the Ray-

ders have strung together

over the last week and a

half.

In the opener, both teams

pushed solo runs across in

each of the first two in-

nings before Caro used a

three run third inning to

take a 5-2 lead, only to see

the Rayders respond with

another run in the bottom

half of the inning.

In the fourth, Caro would

add their final run of the

contest to go up 6-3.

Charlevoix would respond

by scoring a pair of runs in

each of the fourth and fifth

innings and add three

more in the sixth inning

for the 10-6 victory.

The Charlevoix offense

was led by Will Telgenhof

with four hits and three

RBI’s, while

Christian Matye added

two hits and an RBI.

Hunter Cox, Luke Klinger,

Andrew Michaud and

Austin Putman each

chipped in with one single

apiece, Putman’s shot de-

livered a pair of RBI’s,

while Noah Certa and Nate

Moon also finished with

one RBI each.

Moon took the mound for

the Rayders, delivering a

solid six innings of work,

allowing six hits, fanning

seven and walking three in

picking up the win.

In the championship

game against Cass City,

Charlevoix spotted the Red

Hawks an early lead, only

to battle back and score a

pair of runs themselves in

the third.

Cass City would then de-

liver a pair of five run in-

nings in both the fourth

and fifth innings for what

seemed like a big lead, only

to see the Rayders bounce

back with a four run sixth

of their own and added a

solo run in their half of

the seventh, coming up

short.

“We hit well all day but

played a tough squad in

Cass City,” Rayder coach

Allen Telgenhof said.

“They had two huge in-

nings where we couldn’t

get the third out. Still, we

battled back and had the

bases loaded with one out

in the seventh but couldn’t

get the clutch hit.”

The offense was led by

Certa and KeNen Borths

with two hits each in the

game, while Telgenhof,

Moon, Cox and Matye

added one hit each.

Certa and Telgenhof also

had two RBI, while Moon

and Borths each added one.

The Rayders sent Cox to

the mound, and Hunter al-

lowed six earned runs on

six hits, with eight walks,

while striking out five in

four innings of work. He

would be relieved by

Borths and Moon, who

combined to grant five hits

and walk two.

“We like to travel down-

state to see different com-

petition, so this will be

good for us, despite the

loss,” Telgenhof added.

Charlevoix 15-12,

harbor springs 3-0

HARBOR SPRINGS —

The Rayders continued

their hot hitting as the of-

fense game the pitching all

the run support needed in

a Lake Michigan Confer-

ence sweep of Harbor

Springs on May 6.

In the opener, Charlevoix

took a 4-0 lead through

three innings of play be-

fore they exploded with a

10-run fourth to put the

game out of reach despite

the Rams scoring a run in

the bottom of the inning

and added a pair of runs in

the bottom of the fifth as

well.

J.J. Bottomley tossed all

five innings of the mercy-

rule shortened contest, al-

lowing three runs on six

hits, striking out three and

walking none for the vic-

tory.

Hunter Cox paced the of-

fense with three hits, while

Will Telgenhof, Austin Put-

man and Bottomley added

two apiece, as Putman and

Bottomley had doubles

among their hits.

Nate Moon, Andrew

Michaud, Spencer Stewart,

Devin Largent and Chris-

tian Matye all added one

hit each, with Largent and

Matye’s doubles.

In the nightcap, the Ray-

ders scored twice in the

first and third innings, five

times in the second and

added a three-spot in the

fourth in running away

with a 12-0 shutout win.

Moon notched the vic-

tory on the mound, going

the distance, allowing two

hits, while fanning five and

walking one.

Noah Certa and Putman

had two hits each to lead

Charlevoix, while Telgen-

hof, Cox, Moon, Bottomley

and Matye all finished with

one hit, Bottomley’s being

a double.

“Harbor has two tough

starting pitchers and I was

real pleased that we hit so

well and were so aggressive

on the bases,” Rayder

coach Allen Telgenhof

said. “Our pitchers threw

strikes and it all just came

together for us. We’ve been

struggling with some in-

juries so it was good to get

two in the league.”

JV Rayder drop pair atGrayling Invitational

GRAYLING — The JV

Rayder baseball team lost a

pair of contests at the

Grayling Invitational on

May 10.

In the opener against

Cheboygan, the young Ray-

ders fell 12-2.

Justin Adkins took the

loss on the mound, striking

out three, he also led the of-

fense with an RBI double.

Charlevoix stranded nine

runners on base in the con-

test.

In game two against East

Jordan, the Rayders lost 7-

3.

Brad Klinger took the

loss, striking out three.

The offense was led by

the combination of Jordan

Adkins and Justin Adkins,

the duo combined for five

hits, including a double

and triple and added three

runs batted in.

and field teams participated in

the Alma College Invitational on

May 10, as one of over 30 schools

of all sizes that attended the

event.

The girls team finished 23rd out

of 30 teams, while the boys team

placed 19th out of 31. The finish

places were broken down into

four divisions, with the Ramblers

scoring in the division III group.

Kylie Hicks had the biggest day

for Boyne, as she was the overall

winner in the High Hurdles, de-

feating girls from much larger

schools. She also captured the Di-

vision III Low Hurdles.

Another standout for the Ram-

blers was Sidney McLeod, as she

won the High Jump, setting a new

personal record of 4’10” and also

finished third in the Pole Vault.

Morgan Weldon took fourth in

the Discus with a new personal

best of 79 feet, four inches, while

Keyrsten Girlinghouse and Court-

ney Weldon placed seventh and

ninth respectfully in the event.

The 800M Relay team of

Heather Nichols, McLeod, Grace

Knitter, and Hicks raced to a fifth

place finish, while the 400M Relay

team of Kaylee Turnbull,

McLeod, Nichols and Hicks fin-

ished sixth.

Ashley Lutterbach ran a per-

sonal best in the 800M run, while

Hannah Knitter ran her personal

best in the 1600M run.

On the boys side, Landon

Kartes won the 300M Hurdles and

was third in the High Hurdles.

Zach Wandrie placed sixth in

the Discus with a personal best

throw of 111’1”. Kevin Lange was

sixth in the 200M Dash.

Kory Skop and Ethan Book set

new personal bests in the 3200M,

finishing eighth and ninth re-

spectfully.

The 1600M Relay team of Logan

Sulak, Garrett Fogo, Trevor Day

and Conner Mills took third.

“It was a surprise (third place)

because we had not run this com-

bination of athletes before,” Ram-

bler coach Andy Place said.

The Boyne 3200M Relay team of

Fogo, Day, Book and Skop finished

fifth, while the 800M Relay team

of Sulak, Lange, Kartes and Mills

finished fifth as well.

Sharp, remodeled classicstyle home in East Jordan

by Jim akans

Bursting with gorgeous curb

appeal, this remodeled, classic

style home in East Jordan is an

excellent real estate value.

Featuring approximately 1,600

square feet of living area that

includes four bedroom and one-

and-a-half baths, the interior of

this two-story charmer contin-

ues the wonderful presentation

of the inviting exterior. As

mentioned, the home has re-

cently undergone beautiful up-

dating, with a large open

kitchen, lots of wood flooring on

the main level, fresh paint, and

extensive woodworking reflect-

ing timeless craftsmanship.

The home has a large deck

overlooking the property, a de-

tached one-and-a-half car

garage, and even a partial base-

ment for those extra storage

needs. The location is within

walking distance to schools and

parks. This is a must-see offer-

ing!

eled classic style home is listed

Getting prepared to moveis half the battle

Part 3 of 52 weeks from move date:

If you choose not to take advantage

of full service mover packing serv-

ices, or are planning to do it yourself

and rent a truck, Start packing

things into boxes. Figure out the lo-

gistics of the move, travel plans and

if other specialized plans need to be

made.

Tip: If you are using a professional

mover find out what items are on

their “non-allowables” list and dis-

card those items or find a way to

transport them separately.

Tip: Instead of stacking plates,

pack them vertically; they will travel

safer this way.

Tip: If you are moving long dis-

tance, remember travel arrange-

ments for your pets. There are

pet-exclusive airlines available such

as Pet Airways but regular airlines

have travel options for pets as well.

Tip: If you have young children,

you may want to make childcare

arrangements so you can be 100% fo-

cused on moving day and your little

ones remain safe and busy with fun

activities.

Tip: Schedule “move out” cleaning

service, carpet cleaners and heavy

appliance disposal if necessary for

once you’ll be out of the home you’re

vacating. Even if you’re selling your

current home, it’s a nice welcome for

the buyers to move into a clean and

tidy home.
