TIMEFORM 1-2-3Montbazon (FR) - Galileo's Choice (IRE) - Tetlami (IRE)

    TIMEFORM VIEW

A fascinating blend of British and Irish challengers in a wide-open curtain-raiser. Galileo's Choicecommands serious respect given his smart Flat form, but a well-run contest will suit the excitingMontbazon down to the ground, and he is taken to get the Alan King team off to a flyer. TheHenderson pair Tetlami and Darlan complete the shortlist.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Agent Archie (USA)

Useful handicapper at up to 1m on Flat and has won novice hurdles at Ludlow and Newcastlethis winter. Bare form clearly doesn't do him justice, but Cinders And Ashes looks yard's mainhope.

    Allure Of Illusion (IRE)

Bumper winner who was unlucky on hurdles bow behind Joxer, but had run of things when onlysharing the spoils at Punchestown last month, and much more required to take a hand here.

    Catch Tammy (IRE)

Ran well at big odds here on bumper debut for Rebecca Curtis, but hasn't gone on from that, including in 2 starts over hurdles for new yard, and this surely asking too much.

    Cinders and Ashes

Smart in bumpers and impressive when winning all 3 starts since an unlucky debut over hurdles, jumping soundly to take a 3-runner Grade 2 at Haydock in January. Desevers a crack at thislevel.

    Colour Squadron (IRE)

Off the mark over hurdles when beating Montbazon at Newbury in December, and may haverepeated feat but for falling there last time. Hung certain victory away when beaten in Tolworth inbetween.

    Darlan

Unbeaten first 4 starts (bumper & 3 novice hurdles) and in the process of showing smart formwhen falling heavily 2 out in Betfair Hurdle. Worthy of serious respect.

    Distant Memories (IRE)

Smart on Flat for Tom Tate, and easy winner of Limerick maiden on his debut in this sphere.Blunder at second last cost him any chance when third of 4 behind Midnight Game at Naas lasttime.

    Dylan Ross (IRE)

Won maiden in good style at Fairyhouse in October, and runner-up all 4 starts in better companysince, tried blinkered when splitting Midnight Game and Distant Memories last time. Tail flasher.

    Galileo's Choice (IRE)

Smart Flat performer (won 1m Group 3) and not taken long to achieve same level over hurdles, landing odds either side of an excellent runner-up effort in Grade 1 Royal Bond. Pick of the Irish.

    Hazy Tom (IRE)

Won both bumpers, and impressive in taking first 2 hurdles starts, but below his best since, finding little after racing freely at Ascot last time. Asking a lot for him to bounce back here.

    Jimbill (IRE)

Better effort in bumpers when second to One Term in listed event here, and won maiden onhurdling debut at Fakenham. Failed to confirm that promise up in trip here last time and hard tofancy.

    Midnight Game

Dual Flat winner in France, and has improved with racing over hurdles, showing himself to be aclass act when beating Dylan Ross at Naas in January. Tendency to get on edge is a concern, though.

    Montbazon (FR)

Smart in bumpers, and going the right way over hurdles, taking advantage of fall of ColourSquadron when winning at Newbury last month. Strong traveller who is well worth his place inGrade 1 company.

    Prospect Wells (FR)

Smart Flat performer who has translated a good chunk of that ability to timber. Disappointing inGrade 1 Tolworth when last seen, but breathing operation and tongue tie may help finishingeffort.

    Simenon (IRE)

Useful on the Flat and built on sound hurdles debut when thrashing rivals in Cork maiden. Ratherput in his place by Trifolium on latest start, but may do better now tackling quicker ground.

Steps To Freedom (IRE)Won Grade 2 bumper at Aintree for Gordon Elliott, and unbeaten over hurdles for new yard, completing hat-trick when beating Prospect Wells here in November. Deliberately rested since.

    Tetlami (IRE)

Useful form when landing 2 bumpers in 2009/10 and has made a faultless start to his hurdlingcareer with smooth wins at Sandown and Kempton. Confirmed well-being in recent jumpers'bumper.

    Trifolium (FR)

Dual bumper winner in France and a real improver over hurdles since fitted with cheekpieces, finding only So Young too good in 4 outings this winter. Needs to prove himself away from testingground.

    Vulcanite (IRE)

Useful on Flat and has done well over hurdles, second to Tetlami at Kempton and Montbazon atNewbury, where unsuited by front running. Difficult to see him reversing form with either, though.

Al Ferof (FR) - Sprinter Sacre (FR) - Cue Card

    TIMEFORM VIEW

Sprinter Sacre could hardly have been more impressive in his 3 starts over fences to date, but hewas outstayed up the hill by Al Ferof in last year's Supreme Novices' and Paul Nicholls' charge, who proved himself high class over fences in the Victor Chandler, looks to represent a bit ofvalue.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Al Ferof (FR)

Had Sprinter Scare in behind when winning Supreme Novices' last year and quickly made up intohigh-class chaser, winning twice before third against established chasers in Ascot Grade 1 lasttime.

    Blackstairmountain (IRE)

Grade 1 novice winner over hurdles who achieved same feat over fences at Leopardstown inDecember. Very testing ground perhaps not ideal next time, but probably playing for a place atbest.

    Cue Card

Very smart novice hurdler last term and similar standard over fences, winning 2 of 4 starts.Behind Al Ferof and Sprinter Sacre in last year's Supreme Novices', though, and set for similarfate again.

    Foildubh (IRE)

Won at Navan in December and placed in graded company there and at Leopardstown since. Nodoubting his durability, but faces by far his stiffest task here, and others look much stronger.

Menorah (IRE)Winner of both completed starts over fences but yet to reach the heights that might have beenexpected given his hurdling form, again let down by jumping on most recent outing.

    Sprinter Sacre (FR)

Has made a highly impressive start to his chasing career, slamming Peddlers Cross at Kemptonbefore coasting home from French Opera in Grade 2 at Newbury, jumping superbly both times.

Quantitativeeasing (IRE) - The Package - Pentiffic (NZ)

TIMEFORM VIEWQuantitativeeasing, who has built up an excellent record here, shapes as if he can do better stillnow tackling 3m and is taken to defy top weight. The Package was runner-up in this 2 years agoand is much respected despite the length of his absence, while Pentiffic is one who could go wellat longer odds.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Quantitativeeasing (IRE)

Chased home Divers in novice handicap at last year's Festival, and improved this term, second inPaddy Power before taking 21f handicap here in December. Can go well despite welter burden.

    Noland

Former Supreme winner who hasn't stood much racing in recent years, although managed totake a Grade 2 at Newbury last February. Not disgraced this term, but glory days may havepassed him by.

Hold On Julio (IRE)Winning pointer who has made perfect start over regulation fences, bolting up in brace of 3mSandown handicaps this term. Not always fluent, but still appears to be on a sharp upward curve.

    Mon Mome (FR)

2009 Grand National winner who showed there was life left in him when runner-up here on NewYear's Day, but has run poorly on both starts since. Still capable, but hard to predict his moodthese days.

    Zarrafakt (IRE)

Not been the type to hold his form for long in past, so encouraging that he was able to build on apromising return when winning at Wincanton (25f) last time. Remains unexposed over fences.

    Our Mick

Progressive novice, landing 3-timer over fences in Haydock Grade 2 in January, and creditablethird in Grade 1 Scilly Isles at Newbury last time. Shapes as if he'll stay beyond 2m.

Magnanimity (IRE)Progressed well as a novice, fourth in RSA here. Let down by jumping on first 2 starts this term, but good fourth in Bobbyjo Chase last time in blinkers/tongue tie. Visor tried now.

    Tullamore Dew (IRE)

Good third to Divers at last year's Festival, but often let down by jumping. Cut out mistakes whenexcellent second at Ascot (3m) last time, and chances if he can keep it together again.

    Mossley (IRE)

Took Spa Hurdle here in 2011, and best effort over fences when runner-up to Join Together over25f here in December. Ran poorly in Grade 1 at Newbury last time, though, and jumping remainsa worry.

    Fruity O'Rooney

Front runner who was back to form when winning a 3m handicap at Kempton over Christmas, and good third in Skybet Chase at Doncaster last time when not helped by a slipping saddle.

The PackageRunner-up behind Chief Dan George in this contest in 2010. Not seen since November of thatyear, but trainer adept at reviving similar types, and needs to be considered from a 2 lb lowermark.

    Billie Magern

Made a winning return over 2m here in October, but can look moody, and while a third to TheGiant Bolster in 21f handicap in January was a return to form, he merely plugged on past beatenrivals.

    Mount Oscar (IRE)

Ran creditably when third in a veterans race at Wincanton last month. Race may have come toosoon when only fifth behind Nacarat in Racing Plus Chase a week later, but not easy to fancyhere.

    Baile Anrai (IRE)

Second to Fingal Bay in Grade 2 over hurdles in October, and has won both starts over fenceswhen avoiding mishap. Still going ok when falling in Reynoldstown at Ascot last time.

    Alfie Sherrin

Smart hurdler at best and won over fences for this yard last term. More promise than previouslythis season when fifth over hurdles last time and no shock if he goes well in first-timecheekpieces.

    Bottman (IRE)

Made winning chase debut at Fakenham in October but let down by jumping next 2 starts. Moreencouragement when fifth of 16 behind Bless The Wings here in January, but yard remains quiet.

    Riguez Dancer

Signs he was close to recapturing best when not beaten far in a 3m Skybet Chase at Doncasterin January, but well held when unseating at Kelso last time, and opposable from out of handicap.

    Pentiffic (NZ)

Ex-Australian performer who won at Huntingdon and ran a good third to Bless The Wings here, both in January. Set to improve when falling at Doncaster last time, and needs a second lookhere.

    Runshan (IRE)

Bold-jumping front runner who won at Plumpton and Stratford in October. In frame on both startssince, over 3m here on New Year's Day, but thorough stayer is vulnerable on drop back to 3m.

Last year's winner Hurricane Fly has cemented his position at the top of the 2m tree since thenand can confirm himself the best since Istabraq with a follow up. An on-song Binocular wouldprovide the stiffest resistance, with Rock On Ruby a solid each-way proposition.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Binocular (FR)

Won 2010 Champion Hurdle, and back to that sort of form on last 2 starts after undergoingbreathing operation. Smooth winner of Kingwell Hurdle last month, and looks the main threat toHurricane Fly.

    Brampour (IRE)

Much improved this season, winning at Ascot then Greatwood Hurdle at this track a couple ofweeks later. Third in Grade 2 here after and had excuses since, but hopes look pretty slim in thiscompany.

    Celestial Halo (IRE)

Fine servant to connections, landing the Triumph in 2008 as well as 4 Grade 2s. Only justtouched off in 2009 renewal of this, but latest defeat to Binocular confirms he's just short of thislevel.

    Hurricane Fly (IRE)

Unbeaten in 5 starts (all Grade 1s) last term, including in this contest, and showed himself asgood as ever when making impressive return in Irish Champion in January. Hard to beat on thatform.

    Kalann (IRE)

Quickly left his Flat form behind switched to hurdling, running out a ready winner of 4-y-o minorevent here in October. Failed to really build on that since and firmly up against it.

Oscars Well (IRE)Won 2 Grade 1 novices last term and would surely have won the Neptune but for a late blunder.Better form in defeat this season, but put in his place by Hurricane Fly last time.

    Overturn (IRE)

Front runner who was seventh in 2011 Champion. Better than ever this term, completing hat-trickwhen beating Binocular in Fighting Fifth. Given a break and likely to give it his all again.

    Rock On Ruby (IRE)

Propelled himself into Champion Hurdle picture when running away with handicap at Newbury onreturn, and pushed Binocular hard when neck second in Christmas Hurdle. Definite placecontender.

    Zaidpour (FR)

Unbeaten in 4 starts this season, showing himself effective from 2m to 3m. Last 3 wins gained atGrade 2 level and this step back up in class likely to prove a bridge too far.

Zarkandar (IRE)Took Triumph Hurdle win in unbeaten 2010/11 campaign, and returned from absence withimpressive win in Betfair Hurdle last month. Capable of better still, but that is factored into hisprice.

    TIMEFORM 1-2-3

Scotsirish (IRE) - Uncle Junior (IRE) - Sizing Australia (IRE)

    TIMEFORM VIEW

This race has tended to be an Enda Bolger benefit over the years, but Willie Mullins has muscledin of late and his pair, Scotsirish and Uncle Junior, look set to dominate. Last year's winner SizingAustralia can push old favourite Garde Champetre out of the places.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Uncle Junior (IRE)

Belied a lack of experience when too strong for Garde Champetre here in November and stillgoing well when one of several to take wrong course following month. Clearly remains of seriousinterest.

    Scotsirish (IRE)

Smart chaser who has taken well to this discipline, winning twice at Punchestown and lookingunlucky when taking wrong course here in December. Looks a major player despite big weight.

    Garde Champetre (FR)

Dual winner of this contest, and runner-up last season. Fortunate win here in Decembersandwiched by defeats by Uncle Junior and Scotsirish, and looking vulnerable at age of 13.

    Sizing Australia (IRE)

Landed this event from Grade Champetre last year. Not at best since, although still going wellwhen unseating at Punchestown in May, and presumably been trained to peak for this target.

    Dancing Tornado (IRE)

Useful hurdler/chaser but yet to add a big handicap win to his tally, jumping often his undoing, aswas the case at Leopardstown on latest outing. Untried over cross-country fences.

    Balthazar King (IRE)

Useful novice chaser last year, and improved again to win 3m handicap here on return. Belowform since, but was running well until colliding with rail on first attempt in this sphere last time.

    A New Story (IRE)

Former winner of this contest who retains ability at the age of 14. Well held in usual prep raceover hurdles at Naas last time, and asking too much for him to turn the clock back now.

    Double Dizzy

Showed he was capable in this sphere when third behind Uncle Junior in November, but couldn'tbuild on that here following month. Won at Plumpton in January, although latest effort needsforgiving.

    Midnight Haze

Front runner who was better than ever when winning handicap chase at Ludlow in December.Goes best fresh, so absence since a plus, but has to prove himself in this different discipline.

    Fortification (USA)

Made good start for this yard when winning at Exeter in November, and back to form whengrinding out victory at Warwick (29f) last time. Lack of experience in cross-country races a bigconcern.

    Jacks Island (IRE)

Tough campaigner who has run respectably in cross-country events in Ireland, finishing in framebehind Scotsirish twice this season. Those races came at 3m, though, and stamina to prove over31f.

    Maljimar (IRE)

Has finished fourth on both starts over C&D, including in this event last year. Since won twice insimilar events in France (ran poorly last time), and can't be ruled out of calculations.

    Tally Em Up (IRE)

Inconsistent mare who has run well on both cross-country starts at Punchestown this season, justa head behind Garde Champetre when third to Scotsirish there last time. More needed here, however.

    Dream Alliance

Welsh National winner in 2009 for Philip Hobbs but been long way below form since. Not entirelydisgraced when eighth in this in 2011, but no reason why he should fare much better now.

    Wedger Pardy (IRE)

Successful twice in cross-country events at Punchestown in the past, and was in front, butlooking vulnerable when taking wrong course here in December on second start for Kim Bailey.

    Gone To Lunch (IRE)

Stamina his forte, runner-up in 2 Scottish Nationals in his prime. Scored again at Wincanton inOctober, but laboured there last time, and has no experience of these fences. Blinkered first time.

Quevega (FR) - Kentford Grey Lady - Swincombe Flame

    TIMEFORM VIEW

Quevega is regarded as the banker of the meeting by many and she can't realistically beopposed in her quest for a fourth straight win in this contest. Kentford Grey Lady and SwincombeFlame are a couple who make appeal for place purposes.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Alasi

Hard to knock her in in mares only contests, winning 4 times over hurdles/fences since October.Fourth in this last year, and probably playing for a similar place again.

Dare To DoubtEnjoyed a good first season over timber, better than ever when winning handicap atPunchestown. Nowhere near that level over fences despite landing the odds at Thurles recently.

    Kells Belle (IRE)

Bumper winner who improved to belatedly land her second hurdles win at Sandown (2m) inJanuary. Proper test at this trip will suit, but massive career best needed to fill a place.

    Our Girl Salley (IRE)

Very useful Irish mare who returned to winning ways in 2m Grade 3 at Leopardstown inDecember for second year running. Better than result in 3m Grade 2 latest and an each-wayplayer.

    Quevega (FR)

A mare of rare quality, landing the last 3 renewals of this contest (all as favourite). Enhanced herCV in Grade 1 World Series Hurdle when last seen in May and sure to take all the beating again.

    Shop Dj (IRE)

Solid performer against her own sex in her native Ireland, seldom finding herself out of the frame.Has been chasing this winter, but return to timber will suit and fit from a recent AW win.

    Violin Davis (FR)

Useful hurdler in her own right, but benefited from the best ride of the front 3 when ahead ofKentford Grey Lady and Our Girl Salley at Ascot (3m) in January. May struggle to confirm thatform.

    Golden Sunbird (IRE)

Improved form over hurdles fitted with a tongue tie, posting a very useful effort when landinglisted mares hurdle at Limerick (2m) a year ago. Failed to scale same heights over fences.

    What a Charm (IRE)

Smart on the Flat for John Oxx and landed the Fred Winter on handicap bow at last year'sFestival. No match for Our Girl Salley in Grade 3 in December, and firmly up against it in thiscompany.

    Belle De Fontenay (FR)

Has just a 2m Worcester mares maiden hurdle to her name, and flying much too high in thiscompany. NON RUNNER.

    Candelita

Mares bumper/maiden hurdle winner during the second part of 2011, and since added to that in1m fibresand maiden on Flat, but her level of form is miles removed from what's required.

    Cloudy Spirit

Hold-up performer who's proving genuine and consistent, though winless this season, and fullyexpected to find at least a couple too strong.

    Dorabelle (IRE)

Fairly useful form in bumpers, and only of similar merit over hurdles despite 4 wins. Below form inhandicap company last month so easy to look elsewhere.

    Himayna

Modest maiden handicap hurdler who is simply making the numbers up.

    Ixora (IRE)

Form took off upon joining this stable in summer of 2010, last seen taking another step forward in21f handicap here in October. Absent since, and likely to come up short in this field.

    Kentford Grey Lady

The most progressive mare in the line-up, showing her opening mark to be all wrong at Kemptonprior to splitting Violin Davis and Our Girl Salley at Ascot. Looks the pick of that trio this time.

    Swincombe Flame

Useful form when winning both bumpers, and quickly reached that level in handicap hurdles, following up her Kempton win with a very good placed effort at Ascot. Well worth place in thisgrade.

    Tempest River (IRE)

Beat Baby Shine at third attempt in bumpers last season. Off the mark at third attempt overhurdles, and has threatened a bigger peformance, but this hike in grade will likely be too much.

    Terre Du Vent (FR)

Smart Flat performer in her native France, and in the process of making a promising hurdlingdebut when falling 2 out at Kempton (Graded company). 2m will suit and not dismissed lightly.

    The Strawberry One

Dual bumper winner who took 3 Towcester novice hurdles in May. Like many from her stable wasbadly out sorts as year progressed, and has a bit to find with a few of these on earlier meetings.

    TIMEFORM VIEW

Hunt Ball continues to go from strength to strength and cannot be ruled out under his welterburden, but there's no doubting this represents his toughest assignment, so preference is forBless The Wings, who impressed with his jumping when scoring on his first visit here in January.Carrickboy and Triolo d'Alene make up the shortlist.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Hunt Ball (IRE)

Progressive handicap chaser, making it 6 wins from last 7 starts at Kempton last month,travelling/jumping well and not extended to assert. Hit with a big rise for that, but capable of betterstill.

    Saint Are (FR)

Grade 1-winning novice hurdler last season, and shaped well behind Champion Court on chasebow. Not built on that since, unseating in race won by Bless The Wings here in January.

    The Panama Kid (IRE)

Well placed to win first 3 starts over fences this season, and not discredited when third to LieForrit at Kelso in December. Well held in stronger company since, and in handicapper's grip now.

    Going Wrong

Shade fortunate to open chase account in 2m novice handicap at Sedgefield in November, butimproved to overhaul Realt Mor there on latest start, and worth his place on bigger stage.

    Battle Group

Prolific winning hurdler at up to 3m. Temperament getting the better of him nowadays, though, and tried blinkered after failing to convince all 3 previous tries over fences.

    Bless The Wings (IRE)

Progressive in 3 starts over fences, having something to spare when taking 21f novice handicaphere in January, particularly impressing with fluency of his jumping. Sure to do better still.

    Falcon Island

Has scored 3 times over fences, the last 2 in handicaps around 2m. Creditable second to Toubabat Sandown last time, but more exposed than most, and must prove his stamina for this trip.

    Quincy Des Pictons (FR)

Much improved when landing a hat-trick of chase wins in December, most impressive whenrouting rivals from out of the handicap at Chepstow last time. Kept fresh with this in mind since.

    Owen Glendower (IRE)

Quickly established himself as a useful chaser, a pair of wins sandwiching a good fourth inhandicap company at Doncaster in December. This trip probably the limit of his stamina.

    Triolo D'Alene (FR)

Dual winner over fences in France and showed useful form when making winning start for newyard in 19f Ascot handicap in January, impressing with way he travelled. Smart prospect.

    White Star Line (IRE)

Strong traveller who won maiden hurdle at Naas in 2010/11, and better effort in completedchases when third to Hidden Cyclone at Leopardstown in December. Capable of better nowhandicapping.

    Mic's Delight (IRE)

Twice a winner over hurdles last term and has made fine start to chase career, winning twice over2m at Market Rasen. Will improve further, and interesting contender moving into handicapcompany.

    Charminster (IRE)

Broke chasing duck over 2m at Musselburgh in January, but jumping failed to pass muster whena keeping-on fourth to Bless The Wings over 21f here in January and others look stronger.

    Ackertac (IRE)

Matched useful hurdling form when runner-up in a 3-runner novice chase at Ascot in October, and back to form in cheekpieces when chasing home Triolo d'Alene in handicap there (19f) lasttime.

    Carrickboy (IRE)

Belatedly broke his duck over fences when taking a 19f Catterick maiden chase in January, andimproved form when winning handicap at Hereford 8 days ago with a bit to spare. Peaking at righttime.

    Cucumber Run (IRE)

Has won 2 of his 4 starts over fences, despite not convincing with jumping, taking a tumble innovice at Fontwell last time. Blinkered now, but may find these stiffer fences tough to cope with.

    Vino Griego (FR)

Hard to win with, but plenty of solid form to his name, finishing an excellent fourth in this contestlast year. Sour display over hurdles last time, but capable of bouncing back.

    That'll Do

Can finish weakly, but won on chase debut in May. Somewhat fortunate to collect in 2-finisherC&D novice when last seen in October, and lot more on his plate in this much more competitiveaffair.

    Harpsy Cord (IRE)

Off the mark at third time of asking when taking advantage of rival's last-fence stumble at Gowranlast month. Lightly-raced sort is open to further improvement and can't be dismissed.

    Educated Evans (IRE)

Has failed to complete 2 of 5 chase starts, but good efforts when scoring at Chepstow andNewbury, and bounced back to best when creditable second to Oh Crick at former track on latestouting.
