Truth

• There are two philosophical ways to define truth.• 1 – Correspondence theory of truth – Something is

true insofar as it corresponds/relates to something that actually exists outside of your view. ‘I am a teacher’ corresponds to somethins that is actually true.

• 2 – Coherence theory of truth – Something is true insofar as it is consistent with the view you hold. ‘I am a teacher’ is true in the sense that it consistently adheres to what I say

Correspondence Truth

• ‘The chair is blue’.

• IF you think that this is correspondingly true, move to one side and to the other if you do not think it is.
