Our President’s
Message….
First and foremost, I would like to apologize for the tardiness of this newsletter. We have so much go-ing on in such a short period of time and I wanted to be sure we were able to get the information out to our members. So I hope you enjoy this double issue. It is filled with many events, photos, and information.
Our Texas Hold’em Tournament was a tremendous success. The hall was filled to capacity and there were lots of prizes for the winners. Thank you to all of the players who participated and congratulations to all of our winners. A special thank you to Queens Trustee Mike Mongelli who coordinates this event every year. Great job Mike by you and your committee.
This year’s Annual Dinner Dance was held on May 8th at El Caribe in Brooklyn. Our Man-of-the Year was Inspector Joseph Gallucci of the Counter Terrorism Bureau. Inspector Gallucci has always been a staunch supporter of this organization and is a well-deserved recipient of this award. Our three Medal of Val-or winners were Andrew Dossi (46th Pct), Marc Fontana (70th Pct), and Tony Cuoco (75th Pct). These officers exhibited courage under some difficult circumstances and were truly deserving of the honor they received. Our Entrepreneur Award was bestowed upon Robert Catalano. Robert was truly honored to receive this award and made a generous donation to our scholarship fund. Thank you Robert for your generosity and support of this organization. Our Italian-American Achievement Award was given to Vic DiBitetto. Vic is very proud of his Italian ancestry and was humbled that our organization honored him. He is truly a class act. A very special thank you goes out to 1st Vice-President Manny Rossi and his committee as well as Sal Ferrante, Steve Salazer, and Dyanne Marzano of the Journal Committee. You guys did a tremendous job.
Friday, June 12 is our Annual Golf Outing at Pelham/Split Rock Golf Course. If you haven’t signed up to play, please contact Dyanne Marzano or Anthony Cesarano. Our Fishing Trip is on Friday, June 26 out in Freeport. Contact John Passarella and Chris Pizzo for more information. Flyers for both of these events can be found in this newsletter and online at www.nypdcolumbia.org.
The event every cigar aficionado has been waiting for has finally been scheduled. Our Fifteenth Anni-versary Cigar Event will take place on Friday, July 31 at the exclusive, members-only Grand Havana Room. Tickets for this event will sell out quickly so don’t wait. No tickets will be sold at the door, so be sure to get your tickets in advance. Don’t get left out!
As you can see, we have quite a few things going on here at Columbia. I want to take this opportunity
to thank the entire Board of Officers for all of the hard work they do to make this organization successful. I
also want to thank our members for being part of this tremendous fraternal organization. Please take the time
to promote our organization and to help recruit new members. I look forward to seeing you at one of our
many upcoming events.
Richard Angeletti President.

Hello Columbia,
We are well into 2015 now, we still
have some great events coming up. Please
check our website for future events. In July
we will be having our 15th annual Cigar
Night. This event will be above and beyond
any of our prior years. The Grand Havana
Room is ultra-exclusive venue, so get your
tickets fast we anticipate a complete sellout
of this event. Our 2015 annual dinner
dance was acknowledged as one of our
better if not best of all time. Thank you to
all who attended and made it such a suc-
cess. Columbus Day is right around the
corner. I call out to all our membership, we
as an organization show our support for
our Italian heritage this day. Come out and
march up 5th avenue with us. Don’t forget
to pay your dues if you haven't already.
Until next time……...
