Who can use Community Minibuses?

Any group or organisation within the community that is ‘not for profit’, including:

• associations• charities• clubs• societies

Disabled individuals may also access community minibuses throughout Cumbria.

What is the Community Minibus Scheme?

Minibus Brokerage is a sharing scheme that enables groups and organisations within the community to use accessible and affordable community minibuses. There are over 30 minibuses available for hire and most are wheelchair accessible.

What are the benefits?

Using a minibus from the brokerage ensures that your trip is: • more affordable • safe and legal• provided in a properly serviced and

well-maintained vehicle.

Minibuses can be hired on a self-drive basis (after initial training) or may be made available with a trained volunteer driver.

Groups are charged either on a mileage basis,whichincludesfuel,oraflatdailyrate.

The schemes also provide opportunities for organisations with vehicles to offer them for use by groups with no transport of their own.

Vehicle owners-benefitbyreceivinganincome to help keep your bus safely on the road and access a bus sharing scheme.

How do we use scheme?

First of all you must join by registering with your nearest scheme, then it’s a simple booking procedure.

Our local co-ordinators are very helpful, experienced and resourceful in meeting requests.
