During the last ten years as Chargehand/Team Leader fitter at Tata Steel/Corus/British Steel I have overseen and been in charge of all Refurbishment work on casting equipment at MSD in Workington, some of these units are in excess of 40 Tonnes in weight.

My role includes being control of a number of fitters including being “hands on” and overseeing/planning the strip down of units right through to the refurbished unit leaving the plant, my job entails liasing with Foreman, Contract managers, Inspection department, sourcing replacement parts with the stores as well as many other areas.

In the present climate i do of course look after my team with Health and Safety at the forefront of any activities and actively engage in educating team members to think/act as i do so myself.

I have been on numerous management courses including IOSH Managing safely and just recently completed a course on getting fit for Nuclear. (Triple Bar Training)
