MARIA CRISTINA ANNESINI
- Maria Cristina Annesini è dal 2001 Professore Ordinario di Principi di Ingegneria Chimica presso la Facoltà di Ingegneria dell’Università di Roma “La Sapienza” dove attualmente insegna “Fenomeni di Trasporto” per il Corso di Laurea e di “Reattori Chimici” per il Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Chimica
- Da novembre 2008 a ottobre 2014 è stato Presidente del Consiglio di Area di Ingegneria Chimica e Materiali. Dal novembre 2010 è stata Direttore del Master Universitario in Ingegneria dei Processi di Polimerizzazione e Materiali Polimerici, trasformato nel 2012 in Corso di Alta Formazione in Ingegneria dei Polimeri "International Moplen School". Il corso, realizzato in collaborazione con LyondellBasel, è rivolto a studenti con titolo di laurea magistrale o equivalente, provenienti da paesi comunitari e extracomunitari, con preferenza per i paesi in cui Basell svolge le sue attività.
- Svolge sistematicamente attività di referee per riviste di rilevanza internazionale (negli ultimi anni Chemical Engineering Journal, Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, International J. Hydrogen Energy, J. Of Hazardous Materials, Chemosphere, J. Chromatography, Water Research, etc.)
- E’ stata responsabile di progetti di ricerca di Facoltà e di Ateneo; ha partecipato a numerosi progetti di ricerca di interesse nazionale (PRIN).
- Ha partecipato a progetti di ricerca nazionali e internazionali per lo sviluppo di processi per lo sfruttamento di fonti di energia rinnovabili. In particolare ha partecipato a due progetti progetto FISR relativi a processi per la produzione di idrogeno mediante reforming a conversione totale e mediante cicli termochimici alimentati a energia solare; ha partecipato al progetto Metisol (Ministero dell’Ambiente) sulla produzione di miscele metano-idrogeno per autotrazione mediante energia solare (coordinatore del progetto leader Centro Ricerche Fiat).
- Dal 2011 al 2015 è stata responsabile di un'unità di ricerca del progetto europeo COMETHY Compact Multifuel-Energy To Hydrogen converter (EC-7FP Collaborative Project co-funded by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU).
- L’ampia attività di ricerca, documentata da oltre 150 pubblicazioni e comunicazioni a congressi (102 lavori indicizzati su Scopus), ha riguardato negli anni numerose tematiche, dalla termodinamica degli equilibri di fase, con particolare riferimento alle applicazioni a processi di separazione non convenzionali, alla cinetica e la reattoristica chimica e biochimica, dalla modellazione di processi di rimozione biologica degli inquinanti allo studio del rilascio controllato di farmaci, alle applicazioni delle metodologie dell’ingegneria chimica in ambito biomedico. L’attività di ricerca in ambito biomedico ha portato alla pubblicazione del volume “Artificial Organ Engineering” (Springer, 2016).
- Attualmente le principali linee di ricerca sono relative allo studio di processi per la produzione di idrogeno utilizzando fonti energetiche rinnovabili, alla modellazione del funzionamento di reattori a membrana e allo studio di processi biologici a due fasi per la rimozione di composti bioresistenti. Le attività di ricerca sono svolte in collaborazione con gruppi di ricerca internazionali; in particolare, per le ricerche nell’ambito della produzione di idrogeno (progetto Comethy) sono attive collaborazione con il Technion (Haifa, Israele), l’Università Aristotle di Tessalonica e il Centre for Research and Technology
Hellas (Grecia), Chemical Process & Energy Resources Institute (C.P.E.R.I.), mentre sui processi biologici a due fasi è attiva una collaborazione con la Queen’s University (Kingston, Canada).

FEDERICO AULENTA
Federico Aulenta is a tenured Scientist at the Water Research Institute (IRSA) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). He graduated, summa cum laude, in Industrial Chemistry (1999) from Sapienza University and obtained a PhD in Industrial Chemical Processes (2003) from the same University. He was visiting scientist at Cornell University (Ithaca, USA) and at the Joint Research Center of the European Commission (Ispra, Italy). In 2013, he obtained the national scientific qualification as Associate Professor in Chemical Plants and Technologies. His main research interests Research interests falls within the broad area of industrial and environmental biotechnology for site remediation, wastewater treatment, bioenergy and chemicals production. Research combines concepts and techniques from chemical engineering with those from (bio)chemistry, electrochemistry, and microbiology. On these topics he published over 95 articles in peer-reviewed ISI Journals and International Book chapters which have received over 2850 citations, resulting in an H-index of 30 (Google Scholar® accessed in February 2018). He is part of the Editorial Board of Process Biochemistry (Elsevier); Reviews in Environmental Science and Biotechnology (Springer); Microbial Biotechnology (Wiley); New Biotechnology (Elsevier); Frontiers in Microbiology, Frontiers in Energy Reserach (Nature Publishing Group). From 2013 to 2016 he served in the Board of Directors of the International Society of Microbial Electrochemistry and Technology (ISMET).

Marco Bravi è nato il 10/9/1963 a Imola (BO). Ha conseguito la laurea in Ingegneria Chimica nel
1988 ed il titolo di Dottore di Ricerca in Ingegneria Chimica nel 1993. E' Professore Associato di
Impianti Chimici dal 2001, attualmente con insegnamenti sia presso la Facoltà di Ingegneria
della Sapienza Università di Roma (“Impianti Alimentari e Biochimici” e “Micro and
Nanoparticles production technology”, quest’ultimo in codocenza) sia presso la Scuola di
Agraria e Medicina Veterinaria dell'Università di Padova (Corso di “Gestione dei Reflui ed
Utilizzazioni Bioenergetiche”, per affidamento).

Abilitato alla professione di ingegnere nel 1989.
Nel 1990 ha svolto uno stage presso una raffineria nazionale acquisendo una conoscenza approfondita degli
impianti e processi della raffinazione del petrolio.
Dal 1991 ricercatore presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica dei Materiali, delle Materie Prime e
Metallurgia dell'Università di Roma "La Sapienza" nel settore scientifico disciplinsre I15E (Chimica industriale
e tecnologica).
Nel corso del 1991 ha trascorso un periodo di studio e di ricerca presso l'Institut Francais du Petrole lavorando
allo sviluppo di membrane polimeriche asimmetriche per separazione gassosa e pervaporazione. Nell'ambito
dell'attività di ricercatore, ha trascorso in qualità di Research Associate, due soggiorni di studio e ricerca di
circa 6 mesi ciascuno negli Stati Uniti occupandosi per lo più di sistemi innovativi per la riduzione degli
inquinanti generati durante l'uso di combustibili fossili.
Dal 2000 è Professore di ruolo di seconda fascia.

E’ docente dei corsi di Processi chimici industriali nel Corso di Laurea in Ingegneria Chimica e di Tecnologia
del Petrolio e del Gas Naturale nei Corsi di Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Chimica e in Ingegneria Energetica.
L’attività di ricerca, ha riguardato lo studio dei processi per la produzione di gas di sintesi ed idrogeno
attraverso gassificazione con ossigeno/aria e vapore, processi di pirolisi e reforming con vapore di biomasse
e rifiuti sia urbani che di natura industriale. Altre tematiche di ricerca sviluppate hanno riguardato la
produzione di biodiesel, processi di dealogenazione di policlorobifenili da oli minerali, problematiche
connesse con l'utilizzo di residui pesanti petroliferi, processi di ossidazione con acqua ossigenata, produzione
ecosostenibile di carburanti mediante utilizzo di biomasse algali, processi di rimozione di inquinanti da
effluenti gassosi.
Nell’ambito della sua attività lavorativa ha avuto numerose collaborazioni con società petrolifere, istituti di
ricerca nazionali e internazionali e società di ingegneria.
Gli aspetti più applicativi dell'attività scientifica e di ricerca, spesso sviluppati in collaborazione con istituti di
ricerca e gruppi industriali nazionali e internazionali (ENI, University of Wyoming, Conser, API, Bio & Waste
solution Inc) sono testimoniati dagli oltre 10 brevetti sia nazionali che internazionali.
E' autore di oltre 100 pubblicazioni molte delle quali su riviste internazionali con oltre 1100 citazioni (h-index
20).
E’ responsabile scientifico di contratti di ricerca con aziende private su argomenti attinenti la gassificazione
e processi di idrogenazione del dimetilmaleato a butandiolo e tetraidrofurano, è membro del Collegio dei
Docenti del Dottorato in Ingegneria Chimica dell’Università di Roma “La Sapienza”, è valutatore di progetti di
ricerca nazionali e internazionali nonchè referee per le principali riviste nei settori dei combustibili e dei
processi chimici, fa parte dell’editorial board delle riviste internazionali “The Open Journal of Waste
Management” e International-Journal-of-Bioprocessing-and-Biotechniques.

ALESSANDRA GENTILI
Alessandra Gentili is an Associate professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Rome La Sapienza, where she received her Master’s degree, Magna cum Laude, in Industrial Chemistry and her PhD degree in Chemical Sciences. She was researcher from 1999 to 2004 and has been Associate Professor since 2005. In December 2013, she received the national qualification as Full Professor (CHIM 01). She has undertaken her teaching duties for the classes of Analytical Chemistry since 2001 (courses for the Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, second level Master of Industrial Chemistry and Chemistry). She was member of the Doctorate Committees of the PhD Programs in: - "Pathology of the neck organs" (2001-2003); - "Environmental and Industrial Hygiene" (2004-2012); - "Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Public Health Sciences" (2013-2015); - “Chemical Engineering” (2015-), currently renamed as “Chemical Processes for Industry and Environment”. Her scientific activity essentially concerns the development of novel analytical methodologies for solving problems in different areas of Chemistry, namely Environmental, Food and Clinical Chemistry. The themes of her research include the use of advanced extraction techniques (static and dynamic pressurized liquid extraction, matrix solid phase dispersion, salting out solvent extraction, solid phase extraction by experimenting novel sorbent materials) and multihyphenated analytical techniques ((nano) liquid chromatography/diode array detection/mass spectrometry) to perform screening and confirmation analyses. Special interest has been focused on the development of new extraction devices/prototypes based on last generation nanomaterials for adsorption of pollutants from environmental waters. The results of her research have been published over 79 publications, including 70 papers on international journals and 9 chapters/monographs on international books (Elsevier Inc., Wiley-VCH VerlagGmbH & Co. KGaA', Royal Society of Chemistry publishing). Her publications have been cited over 2153 times (average citations per item: 37.8); 115.9 normalized citations; h-index 25; total IF 129; average IF in the last 10 years 3.0. - She was selected as an evaluator of the research activity of the Institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences (2010-2014). She was also selected by ANVUR (National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research System) as an auditor for the Evaluation of Italian Research Quality 2004-2010. - She was consulted as an international referee for the evaluation of the 2014 and 2016 research projects by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), Safat, State of Kuwait. - She was consulted as external Reviewer for the PhD Thesis with international mention of a PhD student from Universidad de La Laguna, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, España. - She is currently referee for several ISI journals belonging to top-decile and top-quartile in her research area (AIS; SJR). In 2015, she was awarded by the Editors of Journal of Chromatography A (a SJR top-quartile Elsevier journal) for her “reviewer activity” and "outstanding contribution in reviewing". She has participated in national and international projects (PRIN, MIUR, MIPAF, Ateneo, European Research Projects), both as a responsible (local projects) and as a component. Since 2005, she has been coordinator of collaboration activities with multinationals such as ABBOTT Srl, Abbvie Srl, Avio Spa, and CD Investment Srl. Her LC-MS laboratory has obtained the quality certification according to the standards of ISO 9001:2000 since 2005. She has collaborated with national and international Universities and Research Centres. - From 2001 to 2007, she was a member of the Environmental Chemistry group within the Project of Cooperation among the Italian Government, the Ecuadorian Government and the United Nations Program for Development, aimed at promoting the "sustainable development" of the Galapagos Islands. - In 2006, she was contacted by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientifica IIQAB-CSIC in order to join NORMAN network. NORMAN is an European network of reference laboratories (GC-MS and LC-MS) aimed at monitoring emerging contaminants in European environmental waters. - She collaborated (2012-2014) with the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Alcalá, Madrid, Spain, for the development of novel methods for the determination of emerging contaminants in environmental waters. - Her research group participated in the vitamin K External Quality Assurance Scheme (KEQAS), an international scheme that monitors and reports on the accuracy of the vitamin K analysis. KEQAS is administered by the Nutristasis Unit, hosted by Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital, London, UK (2013-2015). Currently, she is collaborating with the Institute of Chemical Methodologies, Italian National Research Council (C.N.R.), Monterotondo (Rome), Italy and with the UNICATT Cord Blood Bank, Policlinico Gemelli, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome, Italy.

ROBERTO LAVECCHIA
Si è laureato in Ingegneria Chimica presso l’Università di Roma “La Sapienza” ed ha conseguito il Dottorato di Ricerca in Ingegneria Chimica presso la stessa università. Nel 1991 è risultato vincitore di un posto di ricercatore nel raggruppamento "Analisi dei Sistemi dell’Ingegneria Chimica" presso la Sapienza. Dal 1991 al 1999 ha ricoperto il ruolo di ricercatore presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica, Materiali e Ambiente (DICMA) della Sapienza in questo stesso raggruppamento. Nel 2000 è risultato vincitore di un posto di professore associato nel settore scientifico-disciplinare ING-IND/24 – Principi di Ingegneria Chimica, ruolo che ricopre a tutt’oggi. E’ stato membro del Collegio dei Docenti dei Dottorati di Ricerca in “Ingegneria Chimica, dell'Ambiente e della Sicurezza” dall’AA. 2006–2007 al 2010–2011, “Ingegneria Chimica e dei Processi” negli AA. 2011–2012 e 2012–2013 e “Ingegneria Chimica” dall’AA. 2013–2014 ad oggi. Nell’ambito di questi Dottorati ha tenuto seminari monografici e seguito alcuni dottorandi in qualità di Tutor. Nell’ambito della sua attività didattica ha tenuto i corsi di "Cinetica Chimica", "Principi di Ingegneria Chimica", "Reattori Chimici" e "Ingegneria Biochimica Ambientale" per il DU ed i Corsi di Laurea e Laurea Specialistica in Ingegneria Chimica (Facoltà di Ingegneria della Sapienza). E’ stato anche docente del corso di "Ingegneria Chimica Biotecnologica" per la Scuola di Specializzazione in Ortopedia e Traumatologia (Facoltà di Medicina della Sapienza). Attualmente svolge i corsi di "Fondamenti delle Operazioni di Separazione" (Corso di Laurea in Ingegneria Chimica) e di "Principi di Ingegneria Biochimica" (Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Chimica). E' stato relatore di oltre 90 tesi di laurea per i corsi di primo e di secondo livello e per il dottorato di ricerca in Ingegneria Chimica. E' stato responsabile scientifico di numerosi progetti di ricerca, di Facoltà, di Ateneo e di Ateneo Federato, finanziati dal MIUR (Ministero dell'Istruzione, Università e Ricerca), nonché di contratti di ricerca stipulati con il DICMA da aziende private. In veste di responsabile scientifico, ha anche coordinato le attività di ricerca di accordi di collaborazione tra il DICMA ed il Dipartimento per l’Innovazione dei Sistemi Biologici, Agroalimentari e Forestali (DIBAF) dell’Università della Tuscia e tra il DICMA e il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Meccanica, Chimica e dei Materiali (DIMCM) dell’Università degli Studi di Cagliari. La sua attività di ricerca si è sviluppata in diversi settori, tra i quali la catalisi omogenea ed eterogenea, la termodinamica chimica, la cinetica enzimatica, l'ingegneria proteica e i fenomeni di trasporto nei sistemi reagenti. Attualmente le sue ricerche sono rivolte al recupero di prodotti ad alto valore aggiunto da residui agroindustriali, alla produzione di nanoparticelle metalliche mediante tecnologie ‘green’ ed alla degradazione di inquinanti recalcitranti attraverso processi di ossidazione avanzata. Ha svolto attività di referee per numerose riviste internazionali, tra cui Chemical Engineering Science, AIChE Journal, Biochemical Engineering Journal, Separation and Purification Technology, Thermochimica Acta, European Food Research and Technology, International Journal of Food Science & Technology. E' autore di oltre 130 pubblicazioni scientifiche e di sei brevetti di invenzione industriale. FRANCO MEDICI
Franco MEDICI si è laureato nel 1980 in Ingegneria Chimica presso l' Università di Roma "La
Sapienza". Conseguito il diploma di laurea, nel periodo compreso tra il 1980 ed il 1982, ha svolto,
quale borsista, attività di ricerca presso i laboratori di Igiene del Territorio dell' Istituto Superiore di
Sanità' di Roma.
Nel 1983 è diventato ricercatore universitario di ruolo, dal 1983 al 1989 ha prestato servizio presso
l' Istituto di Chimica Applicata dell' Università dell' Aquila, svolgendo regolarmente attività didattica
e di ricerca sperimentale nel campo della Chimica Applicata e della Tecnologia dei Materiali.
Nel 1989 si è trasferito, in qualità di ricercatore, presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica, dei
Materiali delle Materie Prime e Metallurgia dell' Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza"
proseguendo le attività di ricerca iniziate presso l' Università dell' Aquila.
Negli anni accademici dal 1991 al 1997 ha tenuto l' incarico di insegnamento di Scienza dei
Materiali presso la Facoltà di Ingegneria dell' Università di Messina, contemporaneamente negli
anni accademici dal 1994 al 2000 ha tenuto l' incarico di insegnamento di Tecnologia dei Materiali e
Chimica Applicata per gli allievi ingegneri civili ed edili presso la Facoltà di Ingegneria dell'
Università di Roma "La Sapienza".
Nel 2000 ha preso servizio in qualità di Professore Associato (ING IND 22 Scienza e Tecnologia dei
Materiali) presso la Facoltà di Ingegneria della “Sapienza” Università di Roma, ove svolge l'
insegnamento di Tecnologia dei Materiali per gli allievi ingegneri edile - architettura e di Normativa
e Controllo dei Materiali per gli allievi del corso di laurea in Ingegneria Chimica e della Sicurezza. Fa
parte, inoltre, del collegio dei docenti del dottorato in Chimica, Ingegneria Chimica della “Sapienza”
Università di Roma.
E' stato coordinatore nazionale del programma di ricerca scientifica (MURST - PRIN 2006) dal
titolo:" Recupero degli scarti destinati a discarica: dalla ricerca tecnologica innovativa all' impiego
su larga scala e all' inquadramento normativo".
E' autore di 120 pubblicazioni scientifiche riguardanti, nella quasi totalità, la chimica dei leganti
idraulici, la tecnologia del calcestruzzo, la solidificazione/stabilizzazione dei rifiuti industriali ed il
recupero di materiali di rifiuto.
E’ inserito nell’ Editorial Board del Journal of Solid Waste Technology and Management pubblicato

FRANCESCA PAGNANELLI
Francesca Pagnanelli è Professore Associato nel settore scientifico disciplinare Teoria dello sviluppo dei processi chimici (SSD ING-IND/26; SC 09/D2) presso il Dipartimento di Chimica della Facoltà SMFN dell’Università La Sapienza di Roma. La Prof.ssa Pagnanelli afferisce al Consiglio di Area Didattica di Chimica Industriale della Facoltà di Scienze Matematiche Fisiche e Naturali dell’Università Sapienza di Roma e al CAD della Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria delle Nanotecnologie della Facoltà di Ingegneria Civile e Industriale (docente promotore). Dal 2010 è membro del Collegio dei Docenti del Dottorato di Ingegneria Chimica della Facoltà di Ingegneria dell’Università Sapienza di Roma. E’ Direttrice (2016) del Centro di Ricerca interuniversitario HIGH TECH RECYCLING - Sviluppo di tecnologie innovative ecocompatibili per il recupero e valorizzazione di rifiuti high-tech di origine domestica, industriale, sanitaria e portuale. E’ socia fondatrice dello Spin-Off universitario Eco-Recycling per il trasferimento tecnologico nel settore dello smaltimento di rifiuti speciali (anno fondazione 2008). L’attività scientifica ha riguardato in modo prevalente lo studio dei fenomeni chimici e fisici coinvolti in processi caratterizzati dall’interazione e il trasferimento di specie metalliche tra sistemi acquosi e matrici solide, quali adsorbimento di metalli su matrici biologiche (bioadsorbimento), decontaminazione di suoli da metalli, lisciviazione di metalli da minerali e frazioni di rifiuti, sintesi di nanoparticelle di metalli, ossidi e sali. La ricerca è stata caratterizzata dall’applicazione delle metodologie tipiche dell’ingegneria chimica in settori innovativi sia biotecnologici che chimici. Le attività sono state finalizzate alla caratterizzazione ed allo sviluppo di processi innovativi con particolare attenzione agli aspetti energetici, economici ed ambientali mediante valorizzazione di scarti e rifiuti come materie prime secondarie. L’attività scientifica è riportata in più di 80 lavori su riviste internazionali ISI, in più di 60 lavori su atti di congressi internazionali con ISBN, in 4 capitoli di libri e 4 brevetti europei e internazionali. Cleofe Palocci, nata a Roma 20/09/1962, si è laureata con lode in Scienze Biologiche nel 1986 presso l’Università di Roma “La Sapienza”. E’ Ricercatore Universitario (RU) presso il Dipartimento di Chimica della succitata Università ed ha conseguito l’Abilitazione scientifica nazionale a Professore Associato II fascia CHIM04, I° quadrimestre 2016, Validità dell’abilitazione: 28 Marzo 2017 – 28 Marzo 2023. L’attività di ricerca si inserisce nell’ambito delle biotecnologie industriali i cui obiettivi riguardano: lo studio e l’ottimizzazione di processi di bioconversione industriale per l’ottenimento di molecole biologicamente attive o per la “bioproduzione” di materiali biopolimerici impiegando approcci e metodologie di biotrasformazione innovativi, la messa a punto e l’applicazione di nuove metodologie per il controllo sia delle dimensioni che della morfologia di materiali polimerici da impiegare per il rilascio controllato di molecole bioattive (drug delivery), di acidi nucleici (terapia genica), o per approcci di ingegneria tissutale. Professore associato presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica Materiali Ambiente, della Facoltà di Ingegneria Civile e Industriale della Sapienza (SSD: ING-IND/22) Membro e segretario del Collegio dei docenti del corso di Dottorato in “Processi Chimici per l’Industria e per l’Ambiente”. Membro del Comitato di Monitoraggio della Facoltà di Ingegneria Civile e Industriale Inoltre: membro dell’ISE (International Society of Electrochemistry), della SCI (Società Chimica Italiana), dell’AIMAT (Associazione Italiana di Ingegneria dei Materiali), dell’AIDIC (Associazione Italiana di Ingegneria Chimica). Docente del corso "Tecnologia dei Materiali per l’edilizia sostenibile con elementi di chimica applicata" (Polo di Rieti) e del corso "Tecnologie di chimica applicata" (Presso la sede di Roma). L’attività scientifica, documentata da circa 80 lavori a carattere sperimentale, circa 50 dei quali pubblicati o accettati su riviste internazionali peer reviewed, 1 brevetto (PCT/IT2014/000218) ed un capitolo di libro, ha privilegiato le tematiche inerenti i settori della chimica, elettrochimica e tecnologia dell’ambiente, e si è articolata principalmente secondo i seguenti filoni: bonifica di terreni e sedimenti contaminati, sviluppo di materiali anodici innovativi, elettrogenerazione in situ di ossidanti a basso impatto ambientale, trattamenti ossidativi avanzati di contaminanti in soluzione, valorizzazione e recupero di rifiuti provenienti da lavorazioni industriali e preparazione di materiali nanostrutturati per i processi di bonifica avanzati. Inserita dal 1995 in numerosi gruppi di ricerca finanziati da Ateneo, Facoltà, Ateneo Federato, ISPESL, in tre progetti nazionali PRIN e tre progetti europei (JEP 32101, Econano 543924, CrITERIA). È Professore Associato del settore scientifico disciplinare ING-IND/25 “Impianti Chimici” presso il
Dipartimento di Chimica della Facoltà di Scienze Matematiche, Fisiche e Naturali della Università di
Roma “La Sapienza” (presa di servizio 30/12/2010). Svolge attività di ricerca prevalentemente presso
il Dipartimento di Chimica nel settore dello studio e sviluppo di processi e impianti chimici e biologici,
con particolare riferimento allo studio di tecnologie per la bonifica di suoli e falde acquifere
contaminate oltreché al trattamento, smaltimento e/o valorizzazione di reflui liquidi e rifiuti di
diversa natura ed origine. È autore in questo ambito di oltre 60 pubblicazioni scientifiche su riviste
e libri a diffusione internazionale, oltre 80 comunicazioni a convegni con stampa degli atti, 5 brevetti
industriali, editor di un libro sui risultati di un progetto di ricerca del VII Programma Quadro della
Comunità Europea, di una special issue di una rivista internazionale e dei proceedings di una
conferenza internazionale. È membro dall’aprile 2017 della “Accademia Russa delle Scienze naturali”
come “foreign member” nella sezione Oil and Gas come esperto nel settore della bonifica dei Siti
Inquinati. Svolge attività didattica nel campo dei Processi ed Impianti Chimici Industriali e della
Bonifica dei Siti Inquinati prevalentemente nel Corso di Laurea in Chimica Industriale. In particolare
è attualmente titolare (A.A. 2017/2018) dei corsi di: “Processi e Impianti Industriali Chimici/Teoria
dello Sviluppo dei Processi” per il corso di Laurea Triennale in Chimica Industriale e di “Dinamica degli
Inquinanti e Risanamento dei siti contaminati” per il corso di Laurea Magistrale in Chimica Industriale
ARES (Ambiente, Risorse, Energia e Sicurezza) presso la Facoltà di Scienze Matematiche, Fisiche e
Naturali della Università di Roma “La Sapienza”. È Direttore da 7 anni del Master di II livello in
“Caratterizzazione e Tecnologie per la Bonifica dei Siti Inquinati” dell’Università di Roma “La
Sapienza”. È stato nominato, con D.M. 23/12/2013 n. 379 del Mistero dell’Ambiente, Componente
del “Gruppo di Studio per il Riassetto e la Codificazione delle Normative Vigenti in Materia
Ambientale” nel sottogruppo “Danno ambientale e Bonifica dei Siti Inquinati”. È stato membro dal 1
novembre 2013 al 31 dicembre 2015 della Struttura tecnica di Assistenza di Invitalia a supporto della
Direzione Generale Qualità della Vita del Ministero dell’Ambiente come esperto in materia di
depurazione acque e bonifica di siti inquinati. È stato il responsabile scientifico delle attività di ricerca
della Unità Operativa dell’Università di Roma “La Sapienza” nel Collaborative Project Kill Spill
finanziato dalla Comunità Europea nell’ambito del VII Programma Quadro, FP7 (Theme
KBBE.2012.3.5-01, Innovative biotechnologies for tackling oil spill disasters (The Ocean of Tomorrow)
per una durata di 4 anni a partire da gennaio 2013. È stato il responsabile scientifico delle attività di
ricerca della unità operativa dell’Università di Roma “La Sapienza” nell’ambito del Collaborative
Project ModelPROBE finanziato dalla Comunità Europea nell’ambito del VII Programma Quadro
(Theme 6.3 Environmental Technologies). È stato membro dal febbraio 2010 al luglio 2012 della
Segreteria Tecnica presso la Direzione Generale per la Tutela del Territorio e delle Risorse Idriche del
Ministero dell’Ambiente e della Tutela del Territorio e del Mare come esperto in materia di bonifiche.
È stato nominato dal Ministro dell'Ambiente membro di un gruppo tecnico di lavoro per la revisione
e modifica degli allegati alle norme in materia di bonifica dei siti inquinati del Dlgs 152/2006,
dall'aprile 2013 al dicembre 2013. - È membro del GRICU (Gruppo Ricercatori di Ingegneria Chimica
dell’Università). È membro della Giunta del Centro di Ricerca C.E.R.I., Previsione, Prevenzione e
Controllo dei Rischi Geologici dell’Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza”. È membro del
Collegio dei Docenti del Dottorato in Ingegneria Chimica e dei Processi dell’Università di Roma “La
Sapienza”. È stato membro del Programme Committe per la X (Milano, giugno 2008) e XI (Salisburgo,
settembre 2010), XII edizione (Copenhagen, 2015) e XIV Edizione (Lione, 2017) della Conferenza
Internazionale AquaConsoil. È membro del Comitato Scientifico di Remtech (Remediation

Paola Russo è Professore Associato di Chimica Industriale e Tecnologica (SSD ING-IND/27) presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica Materiali Ambiente dell’Università di Roma “La Sapienza”. Ha conseguito l’abilitazione scientifica a professore ordinario il 28 marzo 2017. È membro dei Consigli d’Area di Ingegneria Chimica e di Ingegneria della Sicurezza della Facoltà di Ingegneria civile e industriale, e membro del Collegio dei Docenti del Dottorato in Ingegneria Chimica. Dall’aa 2012-2013 tiene il corso di Sicurezza di Prodotto e di Processo nell’Industria Chimica nell’ambito dei corsi di Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Chimica e Ingegneria della Sicurezza e Protezione Civile e dall’a.a. 2013- 2014 il corso di Chimica Industriale Organica per il Corso di Laurea in Ingegneria Chimica. Dall’a.a. 2008/2009 svolge seminari su “Caratteristiche principali dei materiali infiammabili: gassosi, liquidi e solidi” e “Dinamiche di propagazione degli incendi” nell’ambito dell’insegnamento di Incendi ed Esplosioni del Master di secondo livello in Ingegneria Forense presso l’Università di Napoli “Federico II”; Nel 2016 è stata Componente del Gruppo di Lavoro istituito dal Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco per la ricerca su “Algoritmi per l'individuazione delle distanze di sicurezza antincendio in installazioni per l'erogazione dei combustibili alternativi per l'autotrazione" Nel 2016 è stata inoltre Responsabile della ricerca dal titolo “Studio di sistemi di prevenzione e protezione da incendi ed esplosioni in silos per polveri combustibili“ nell'ambito dell'accordo di collaborazione con la Direzione Centrale per la Prevenzione e la Sicurezza Tecnica del Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco Svolge attività di revisore per diverse riviste scientifiche internazionali e per l'Elsevier del libro "Dust Explosion Dynamics" di Russell A. Nel 2014 è stata Membro del Scientific Advisory Board e del Best Paper Award Committee per il X ISHPMIE-Tenth International Symposium on Hazards, Prevention and Mitigation of Industrial Explosions, Bergen, Norway, 10-14 June 2014 L’attività di ricerca è svolta su temi principalmente nel campo della sicurezza e protezione ambientale, quali: - analisi e prevenzione di fenomeni esplosivi derivanti dall’uso di gas, polveri e miscele ibride; - studio di sistemi di mitigazione e di protezione di apparecchiature industriali dagli effetti di esplosioni di gas e di polveri; - studio del rischio di incendio in gallerie stradali attraverso l’impiego di modelli di calcolo CFD; - studio della propagazione di incendi boschivi. e nel campo alimentare: - dealcolazione delle bevande mediante processi a membrana; - ottimizzazione e modellizzazione del processo di essiccazione di prodotti vegetali. L’attività di ricerca è documentata da oltre 170 pubblicazioni di cui 92 su riviste internazionali e convegni internazionali peer review (Scopus, HI=19) e dal Brevetto N. 0001417526 (2015) “Apparato per le prove di infiammabilità ed esplosività di polveri uniformemente disperse”.

MARCO SCARSELLA
Ha conseguito la laurea in Chimica nel 1987 presso l’Università di Roma “La Sapienza”. Sempre presso la
medesima Università ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca in Scienze Chimiche nel 1991 e la laurea in Scienze
Naturali nel 2008.
Dal Novembre 1996 è ricercatore nel settore scientifico disciplinare ING-IND/27 (Chimica Industriale e
Tecnologica) e svolge la sua attività presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica Materiali Ambiente
dell’Università di Roma “La Sapienza”.
E’ stato docente dei corsi di Chimica Organica e Chimica Industriale Organica per il corso di laurea in
Ingegneria Chimica, Chimica dell’Ambiente Marino per il corso di laurea magistrale in Scienze del Mare.
Attualmente è docente di Catalisi Industriale per il corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Chimica
L’attività scientifica è per lo più riferibile al miglioramento della qualità di prodotti petroliferi al fine di
aumentarne l’ecocompatibilità, al trattamento e recupero di residui industriali, a trattamenti alternativi di
desolforazione di frazioni petrolifere e alla produzione ecosostenibile di carburanti mediante l’utilizzo di
biomasse. In tale ambito sono stati perseguiti obiettivi sia riguardanti la ricerca di base che applicativa, anche
usufruendo di contratti di ricerca e collaborazioni con aziende private del settore.
La presente attività di ricerca riguarda principalmente lo studio di processi termici di valorizzazione di rifiuti
urbani e biomasse, la sintesi e lo studio di catalizzatori innovativi per processi di reforming di biomasse e di
prodotti ossigenati di origine biologica, la sintesi e lo studio di fotocatalizzatori per applicazioni ambientali.
L'attività scientifica è testimoniata da oltre 80 pubblicazioni, tra articoli su riviste internazionali, brevetti e
atti di congresso, con un h index complessivo pari a 18 (fonte Scopus) e oltre 800 citazioni (fonte: Scopus).

NICOLA VERDONE
Nicola Verdone è nato a Roma il 27 ottobre 1956.
Ha conseguito il diploma di laurea in Ingegneria chimica presso l’Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza”
nell’anno accademico 1983-84 con la votazione di 110/110 e lode e ha ottenuto l’abilitazione all’esercizio
della professione di ingegnere nella sessione autunnale dell’anno accademico 1983-84.
Dal settembre al dicembre 1985 ha svolto attività di ingegnere di processo presso la Consit srl - Studi, Ricerche
e Progetti di Ingegneria Industriale di Roma. Dal gennaio 1986 al luglio 1988 ha svolto attività di ingegnere di
processo presso la Raffineria di Roma S.p.A., inserito nel Servizio Programmazione e Sviluppo. Dal luglio 1988
all’agosto 1989 ha lavorato come ingegnere progettista presso l’ENEL, Direzione delle Costruzioni - Sede di
Roma. Dall’agosto 1989 al novembre 1992 è stato funzionario presso la Direzione per lo Sviluppo, la
Programmazione ed il Controllo dell’ENI Holding, con mansioni generali di supporto tecnologico al servizio di
Coordinamento Strategico del Settore Energia.
Dal novembre 1992, risultato vincitore del concorso per ricercatore universitario gruppo di discipline I15, ha
afferito al Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica, dei Materiali, delle Materie Prime e Metallurgia dell’Università
degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza”, raggruppamento di Impianti Chimici (I15C), dove ha svolto attività di
ricerca e didattica.
Nel novembre 1995 ha ottenuto la conferma nel ruolo dei ricercatori universitari.
Dal novembre 2006, risultato vincitore del concorso per professore associato gruppo di discipline ING-
IND/25, afferisce al Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica Materiali Ambiente dell’Università degli Studi di
Roma “La Sapienza”, raggruppamento di Impianti Chimici (ING-IND/25), dove svolge attività di ricerca e
didattica.
L’attività scientifica ha interessato diversi aspetti dell’impiantistica chimica, le cui tematiche possono essere
suddivise nelle seguenti principali linee di ricerca:
sicurezza degli impianti nucleari di potenza e chimica degli incidenti severi nei reattori nucleari;
cinetica di combustione, con particolare riguardo ai meccanismi di formazione e di distruzione degli
idrocarburi policiclici aromatici, diossine e furani nel trattamento termico dei rifiuti (attività modellistica);
analisi e ottimizzazione dei cicli di potenza innovativi impiegati nel recupero energetico da incenerimento
dei rifiuti (attività modellistica);
processi innovativi di abbattimento degli inquinanti gassosi presenti nei fumi di combustione (attività
sperimentale);
processi innovativi per la produzione di idrogeno, sia mediante steam reforming di idrocarburi con
catalizzatore in forma di schiuma, sia mediante processi basati sul ciclo zolfo-iodio;
altre tematiche di ricerca riguardanti la cristallizzazione industriale, il mixing liquido solido, l’estrazione con
fluidi supercritici, il trattamento di reflui, l’evaporazione in apparecchiature a film cadente e la fermentazione
industriale.
L’attività di ricerca è stata condotta non solo per mezzo di finanziamenti pubblici (ISPESL, ANPA, ENEA) ma
anche sulla base di contratti con importanti gruppi industriali (Solvay, AMA, Replastic). Oltre a pubblicazioni
a carattere scientifico, nell’ambito di queste tematiche sono stati sviluppati numerosi brevetti sia italiani sia
internazionali.
È titolare degli insegnamenti nel corso di studi della Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria chimica dell’Università
La Sapienza di Roma:
- Sistemi di controllo degli impianti chimici (9 CFU)
- Progettazione degli impianti chimici II (6 CFU).
