Reporting Line: Finance Director & GMAs Manager Finance & Accounts for a Group with annual turnover equivalent to AED 350 Million, I am leading a team of 8 Accounts & Finance professionals including 4 in Head Office & remaining on sites/projects, by supporting large complex operations of 4 companies in a group involved in business of Construction & Contracting including drilling & blasting services, trading of spare parts & manufacturing of Industrial Explosive materials via 5 manufacturing plants across Oman.
Duties & Responsibilities: Maintaining books of accounts and ensuring that accounting transactions are recorded in line with International Accounting
Standards (IAS). This includes maintaining all general ledger balances and reconciliations. Responsible for month end and year end financial reporting including consolidation of group accounts and analysis and also
responsible for the preparation of local statutory financial statements. Responsible for investments evaluation including Projects Feasibility, margins, cost controls, profitability & risk
management. Regular reporting on projects costs analyses as project progresses. Responsible for supervision and management of monthly customer invoicing for all group companies by coordinating with
operations including project engineers for Interim Progress Certificates for Project’s progress Invoicing. Supervise and guide a team of Accountants in ensuring that they carry out their duties. This involves taking a leadership role
to mentor and develop the team. Close interaction with GM in making KPIs for different business units including accounts department for measuring
performance and conducting customer profitability and product profitability analyses to assist in strategic decision making. Responsible for monthly meetings with Project Managers & Engineers to discuss monthly project’s financial performance
and resources required. Responsible for cash flow management and financial management including A/R. A/P, Assets and inventories. Support the Finance Business Partner during the preparation of Budgets and forecasts and provide information to support
assumptions and estimates in compiling these. Responsible for dealing with banks for financial matters including Trade Finance facilities for Projects. Responsible for dealing & maintaining good relationships with key suppliers & customers, sub-contractors & tax authorities. Administration of payroll for all the staff including employee claims and deductions. Identifying and addressing any weaknesses in process and controls
Key Accomplishments: Investment Evaluation : Evaluated overall capital needs of the Group &aligned with current economic conditions and
budgets for infrastructure developments. Closely monitored expansion of plants in Salalah. Deferred non-critical investments and improved cash flow.
Secured Banking facilities: Negotiated with Banks and successful secured bank facilities up to Omani Rial 10 Million (Equivalent to AED. 100 Million) for projects financing including guarantees, tender bonds, LC etc,
Improved Reporting & Budgeting: Created discipline in monthly management reporting& budgeting process by improving the accuracy and timeliness of reports including forecasts used in budgeting process & analyzing project margins, variances & cost. Made early warning system for projects cost over runs. Reduced closing cycle by 5 days.
Cash Flow Improvement : Reduced the cash operating cycle by 20 days by improving A/R turnover, A/P turnover & inventory levels through partnering with sales & purchasing and rationalization of credit policies & payment terms. Created a more stringent process for evaluation & approval of capital spending. Reduced the needs for OD facility to finance working capital requirements by improving cash flows.
Cost Reduction : Focused on reducing overheads in manufacturing plants via consolidation & synergies, leading to monthly cost saving of 10,000 Omani Riyal. Reduced Finance cost by reducing reliance on bank OD facilities via improved cash flow.
