KNIGHTSBRIDGE
PROJECT
residentiaL - MarCH 2014Brief:
A complete refurbishment of Grade II Listed house. This project motivated me to focus my efforts and
begin a career as an interior designer. The experience taught me that I am extremely attentive to detail, I
possess a keen eye for design, and I am very creative.
Concept:
Modern maximalism - an eclectic mix of objects and furniture, using a warm colour palette with a few
splashes of jewel tones and subtle art deco detailing.
Page 01
TV Lounge - bespoke joinery with fretwork mounted on glass and LED lit shelves
Drawing Room - dark stained oak plank flooring, bespoke joinery and bevelled mirrors Dining Room - antique Murano glass chandelier, Oxford Stone Farrow & Ball painted walls
Response:
The scheme creates a charming interplay of contemporary features and period architecture, using a chic mix of textures and
complementary colour schemes in the different rooms, and featuring beautifully designed, yet practical, bespoke furniture.
Creating a contemporary and spacious feel throughout the house whilst preserving the remaining historic building fabric.
This project introduced me to the interior design industry and despite the various challenges posed by a live project, it solidified
my passion for creating interesting and comfortable interiors.
Applied Skills: sourcing, procuring and installing a variety of FF&E; coordinating and monitoring the work of contractors and all suppliers; overseeing the design and installation of bespoke joinery; drafting, reviewing and correcting finishes schedules

HOSPITALITY
PROJECT
HosPitaLity - june 2015Brief:
Create a uniquely opulent private members club, spa and boutique hotel. Resolve planning and specifications for the grand entrance, reception, cloakroom, powder rooms, waiting area, formal dining, library, bar, lounge and private members area. Your designs will need to align with the exacting detail and high level specifications of the hotel suites above and spa below therefore careful attention must be paid to FFE, space planning alongside Listed Building considerations. The client expects that your ambitious design will include a high proportion of bespoke elements.
Concept:
Create a unique and memorable experience for the clientele by creating intrigue, illusions and allusions - all designed to entice the clientele to look closer at their surroundings.

Response:
Designing a variety of bespoke elements that were aimed at intriguing the clientele by playing on their senses, for example, the trompe l’oeil ceiling in one of the areas, bespoke joinery utilising cleverly placed fretwork to spell words, utilising materials such as mirror to make certain furnishes ‘disappear’, and designing a “space within a space” installation to only show parts of the host space - all designed to create unique and memorable communal areas in an exclusive private members club.
This project built skills in concept development, Vectorworks drafting, SketchUp modelling and Photoshop rendering. It also furthered the primary and secondary research, analysis and graphic design skills.
Applied Skills: Vectorworks, SketchUp, Photoshop, lighting plan and design, dossier design

Response:
Our aim was to create an evolving environment for both members, staff and visitors of the youth centre, to stimulate all their senses and instigate the ethos of empowerment. A current, modern and stimulating environment to relax and have fun in. We used bold colours, as well as durable yet comfortable and tactile materials. We introduced a ‘raw’ feel to some of the finishes and modular furnishings.
This project built skills in team-working, technical drawing, SketchUp modelling and Photoshop rendering. It also furthered analytical and hand sketching skills.
Applied Skills: hand sketching and rendering, Vectorworks, SketchUp, Photoshop, presentation boards

JOINERY
PROJECT
MateriaLs & ProCess - MarCH 2015Brief:
To design a division between a kitchen and dining space. The design should ideally provide extra kitchen workspace and employ a mix of natural and man-made materials. Specific attention should be given to sustainability of the materials being specified. The design output should pay particular attention to detailing and the practicalities of joining the different materials.

Response:
The final design utilises clean lines and layering of countertops in order to disguise any kitchen clutter from the view point of the corridor leading to the main entrance of the property. A further element of layering is introduced through the use of brass-coloured stainless steel, granite and painted MDF cabinetry. The design mixes in contemporary elements with luxurious materials. The overall appearance is timeless with a touch of glamour. Labrador Antique granite from Norway was specified for the island worktop and, for the cabinetry, MDF spray-painted in Eico paint to match Farrow & Ball’s ‘Elephant’s Breath’ with a 30% sheen was specified.
This project built skills in materials-specific research and detailed design development, Vectorworks drafting, SketchUp modelling and Photoshop rendering.
Applied Skills: Detailed working drawings in Vectorworks, SketchUp, Photoshop, sketchbook development, research, poster presentation and hand rendering

ConCePtuaL - February 2015Brief:
To design the Great Arch Hall in Somerset House. The design should strive to engage and inspire visitors. The space needs to function as an interesting everyday entrance (from the Victoria Embankment) and meeting point for guided tours but it should be easily convertible into an area suitable for corporate and creative events.
Concept:
Offbeat, Simplicity and Metamorphosis - capturing the spirit of Somerset House’s history, its brand and its clientele.

PROJECT

Conceptual Model / Hand Sketches - design development / testing ideas
Response:
The design of the bar / reception desk utilises corian and a multifaceted shape to introduce the ‘offbeat’ element into the design. The walls are clad in timber and the benches are sculpted from timber, a material which was used for building barges, to introduce an element of history and ‘simplicity’ to the design. To reflect the rich and varied past of Somerset House, the lighting was designed to metamorphose the Great Arch Hall from unassuming day-time design to a vibrant night-time one.
This project built skills in concept and design development, Vectorworks drafting, SketchUp modelling and Photoshop rendering. It also furthered the primary and secondary research and analysis, and hand sketching skills.
Applied Skills: SketchUp, Photoshop, Vectorworks, sketchbook development and lighting design, presentation boxes and lighting plan

residentiaL - noveMber 2014Brief:
To design a three bedroom pied-à-terre apartment in Kew, London for a multi-generational family. The space must be inviting, interesting, and practical, that is light but private, with special attention paid to general storage.
Concept:

Response:
Simple lines and shapes made the space look timeless. Warm grey tones with accents of red, orange and blue made it feel inviting and elegant, while also achieving a contemporary look. Certain furnishing items, such as the twig wall lights and the occasional table made of driftwood branches, introduced a quirky feel to the sophisticated space.
This project developed skills in concept and decorative scheme development, space planning and ergonomics, hand rendering, and communication through verbal presentation.
All technical, axonometric and perspective drawings were created and rendered by hand.
Applied Skills: manual technical drawing, hand rendering and sketchbook development, sourcing, sample boards and design documentation
