mountain experience

Davos Klosters is one of the most renowned holiday destinations in the world, and boasts the most comprehensive holiday, sports, event and meeting facilities in the Alps. The cornerstone for this success was laid over 150 years ago when the first winter guests arrived in the Landwas-ser Valley on 8 February 1865.

The resort of Davos Klosters offers a holiday destination with a thousand possibilities: ski slopes with guaranteed snow, an extensive network of cross-country tracks, unique hiking trails, wonderful mountain biking routes in all the tributary valleys, thrilling adventure and theme parks and countless bathing opportunities.

Davos Klosters has also been awarded the „Families welcome“ quality seal, which dis-tinguishes holiday resorts that specifically match their offerings to the needs and require-ments of children and their carers.

Welcome to the mountain paradise of Davos Klosters!

Sporting paradise, spa town, business town, cultural centre and après ski meet amidst a beautiful mountain landscape.

Davos is the ideal starting base for exploring the unspoiled nature in the Flüela, Dischma and Sertig valleys or the Walser villages of Monstein and Wiesen. The Schatzalp lies high up on a sun-kissed terrace directly above Davos at a height of 1,861 m.a.s.l., also known as the „Magic Mountain“. The mountain was made world famous by the famous German writer and Nobel Prize winner Thomas Mann‘s novel „The Magic Mountain“ (1924).

Klosters is synonymous with its chalet-style village character. Its charm was discovered by American film stars and the British Royals.

The unique Schlappin, Monbiel and Vereina valleys and the high-alpine region around the Silvretta glacier are within easy reach from Klosters. Klosters has been one of the most family-friendly holiday villages in Switzerland for many years. The Madrisa-Land „World of Legends and Fantasy“, situated high up on the mountain overlooking Klosters, offers guaranteed family fun in summer as well as in winter. The Tree House Hotel or the idyllic Chalet Madrisahof encourage visitors to linger a while or even stay overnight.

Six ski regions offering nearly 300 kilometres of slopes, a cross-country trail network with over 100 km of classic and 70 km of skating trails or Europe‘s largest natural ice rink covering some 18‘000 m2. Impressive figures – it is therefore hardly surprising that Davos Klosters is a mem-ber of the exclusive „Best of the Alps“ resort club.

The Madrisa and Rinerhorn are the family-friendly ski areas while the Jakobshorn is the „fun mountain“ for freestylers and après-ski connoisseurs. The Parsenn is the classic ski arena with its wide slopes, the Pischa is known as being the off-piste paradise and the Schatzalp is the „slowed down“ ski region. And not forgetting ski-touring enthusiasts who are also well-catered for.

The FIS World Cup cross-country trail in the Flüela Valley provides a special challenge for cross-country skiers. An extensive network of winter hiking trails, pristine winter land-scapes for snowshoe tours or kilometre-long toboggan runs will make your heart beat a little faster in winter.

Davos Klosters Inside

Davos Klosters Inside is the free programme for guests in winter – from late De-cember to late March – for guests staying in the ski hotels. The daily experiences are put together and accompanied by local people and local celebrities: e.g. skiing before the official start of operations, „a glimpse behind the scenes“ of the cable car/lift operations or toboggan racing.

summer

Hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails for leisurely ramblers, socia-ble and more athletic hikers or high-altitude alpine routes for ambitious mountaineers – a wonderful day out in the natural countryside is gua-ranteed. Davos Klosters is one of the most attractive mountain biking destinations in the Alps. Families and leisure cyclists will be thrilled to try out the well-developed network of cycle paths.

The single trail from the Jakobshorn to Filisur was designated an IMBA Epic Trail in 2014. „The Davos Alps Trail“ now belongs to the crème de la crème of the world‘s best moun-tain bike trails. Downhill enthusiasts and dirt specialists are guaranteed to experience an unadulterated adrenaline rush on the Gotschna freeride run.

A wealth of attractions offer fun, spills and thrills for all: the „Färich Adventure Park“ with its rope and bike park, the „Madrisa Land“ with its legends and animal park, the „GWunderwald“ adventure trail, the Schatzalp summer toboggan run or the „Eau-là-là“ leisure pool centre.

Davos Klosters Active

Davos Klosters Active is the world‘s best summer guest programme – Mondays to Fridays from mid-May to late October. All 700 experiences are free of charge and definitely take place (regardless of the number of participants): e.g. guided bike tour, paragliding, stand-up paddling, a visit to a demonstration cheese dairy and an excursion in a vintage bus.

ExcuRSIONS

For over 125 years the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) has been synonymous with first-class railway experiences. The famous Bernina and Glacier Express classic railway passes through the UNESCO World Heritage area. Both routes can be easily explored on day excursions from Davos Klosters.

Both the Wiesen and Landwasser Viaducts lie not far from Davos. The Wiesen Viaduct (opened in 1909) inspired Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in his painting „Bridge near Wiesen“ in 1926. Ernst Ludwig Kirchner lived in Davos from 1918 until his death in 1938. The Kirchner Museum of Davos was opened in 1992 and houses the world‘s largest collection of his works.

The museums in Davos Klosters are unmatched in the Alps in terms of their diversity and quality. Other renowned mu-seums are: Wintersports Museum of Davos, Schatzalp Alpinum or Klosters Nutli-Hüschi.

SpORTS AND LEISuRE EVENTS

The Davos Klosters resort offers a broad-based, diversified sporting, cultural and leisure offering. It is therefore hardly surprising that our likeable ambassador Dario Cologna, among other things three-time Olympic cross-country cham-pion, has not only trained in Davos Klosters but lives in the Landwasser Valley (since 2006).

As such, for over 100 years Davos has boasted coffee houses, theatres, concerts and even six cinemas in which to entertain its guests. Today Davos Klosters has one of the most versatile night-life offerings in the Alps: ski lodges, après ski bars, nightclubs/bars and a casino.

Well-known sporting or leisure events include:

November-April May bis October

The Prättigau villages of Küblis (814 m.a.s.l.) and Saas (1,000 m.a.s.l.) are part of the Destination Davos Klosters.

In winter Küblis is the end of the legendary 12-kilometre long Parsenn descent (vertical height difference: 2,000 metres) from the summit of the Weissfluh. The 8.5 km-long to-boggan run from the Saaseralp (Madrisa mountain station) ends in Saas. The road to the typical Walser village of St. Antönien (1,450 m.a.s.l.) also branches off in Küblis, which is also home to the Sulzfluh via ferrata.

Season dates, discounts and surcharges as well as cancellations

The season dates can vary for each accomodation and town and are partly dependent on the operating hours of the cable cars/lifts. All prices given in Swiss Francs and Euros are guideline prices and can vary depending on the room category, amenities and length of stay. The conversion rate used is CHF 1 = EUR 0.95.

Prices are based on accommodation in a double room with breakfast, including tourist tax, statutory VAT and are given per person and night. If payment is made in Euros, the hotel‘s daily exchange rate will apply for invoicing purposes.

The surcharges for half-board, single room and reduction for rooms with running water are listed separately. Children sharing a room with their parents, depending on age, up to 100% discount. Many hotels offer attractive short-stay and weekend packages. Individual hotels demand a public holiday or weekend surcharge.

The hotelier is entitled to compensation should you be unable to take up your reservation. Bookings made through our direct reservation system are subject to the cancellation provisions of Davos Destinations-Organisation (Gen.).
