Amphipolis and Alistratis cave

All about the ancient city, where the biggest tomb in Greece has been unearthed

A remarkable ancient city of Eastern Macedonia, Amphipolis was built on the banks of Strymona River, in an area abundant in precious metals and timber. The city was of strategic importance for Athens and Sparta, as well as for the Macedonian kings. The Cave of Alistrati, a unique geological creation of the nature

In the Cave of Alistrati, one of the largest caves in Europe, enormous complexes of stalactites and stalagmites have been created during the course of 2 million years. However, what makes this cave special is the existence of ‘eccentrites’, rare geological formations which follow irregular courses; the eccentrites of the cave of Alistrati are unique in Greek spelaeology.

Aristotle from Stagira, bridging the past with the present

How exciting can be a tour, in which historic knowledge is combined with an experi-mental, interactive game and a nature-loving experience? Our team invites you to ‘Aristotle’s Walk’, a walk centred on the life and work of the great Greek philosopher, accompanied with a taste of tradition in the mountainous part of Chalkidiki. Our visit starts from Ancient Stagira, the birthplace of Aristotle, nowadays a unique archaeo-logical site dating from the 7th century BC; it continues to Aristotle’s Park, a theme park with instruments inspired by the scientist’s work, and ends in Arnaia, the most important traditional settlement of mountainous Chalkidiki with characteristic sam-ples of local architecture.

Hiking Mount Olympus- Enipeas Gorge

Enipeas Gorge, "A Journey to the mountain of the 12 gods"

A classic route that starts from the outskirts of Litohoro village and goes up to Prionia refuge. (Or the other way around). The international hiking path E4 starts in the area of Myloi (400 m) and is one of the entrances into the National Park from the town of Litochoro. The path passes through the stunning Enipea Canyon and is well preserved with clear markings and informative signs. After many ascents and descents the path ends at Prionia refuge at Enipeas springs (1100 m). The path starts along Enipeas Canyon to the left of the river and half way along the route it crosses the canyon seven times across beautiful wooden bridges.

Archaeological site of PellaWaterfalls of Edessa Pella, the capital of the Macedonian kingdom

Leading to the sea from a fertile mainland, the ancient city of Pella became the capital of the Macedonian kingdom and the most important urban centre of Greece from the 4th to the 2nd century BC. The Macedonian king Alexander the Great was born there, while Euripides, one of the three major ancient Greek tragedians, wrote his master-piece, ‘The Bacchae’, in Pella.
