DOOR SPECIFICATIONS

Single Door Not wider than 24” / Not higher than 48” Maximum panel size is 19-1/2”W and 43-1/2”H

Double Door or Two Panel Door

Between 24-1/16” and 48”W and not exceeding 48”H Or 24”W or less and between 48-1/16”H and 96”H Maximum panel size is 19-1/2”W and 43-1/2”H

Flat Panel 3/8” thick center panel. No visible raise on the front of the door

Raised Panel 5/8” thick center panel. Decorative machined raise on front of the door

Framing Bead Decorative machined edge on inside of the door that adjoins panel

Door Lip Decorative profile machined into outside perimeter of the door

Wainscot Loose door or panel applied to a cabinet, island, peninsula or directly onto a wall, etc. Front is finished. Ends and back are sealed.

STANDARDS

Raised Panel Doors All stain-grade doors will have a solid wood center panel All painted doors will have a MDF center panel (unless specified). For a solid wood center panel, specify and add $35 per panel to door cost

Flat Panel Doors All stain-grade flat panel doors will have a 3/8” veneered center panel (unless specified). For a solid wood center panel, specify and add $35 per panel to door cost

Rail Widths Most standard rail stock is 2-1/4”W. Stile and rail widths can be increased up to 1” equally at no premium. For unequal stile or rail widths, specify and add a $12 premium per stile or rail.

CALCULATING DOOR / PANEL SIZES AND CHARGES

Single Door Charge A door with one (1) panel not exceeding 24”W x 48”H = one (1) door charge

Double Door Charge A door with two (2) panels not exceeding 24”W x 48”H = two (2) door charges Doors exceeding either 24”W or 48”H count as two (2) door charges

Three Door Charges A door that exceeds 72”H = three (3) door charges

Example: A 27”W x 61”H door with two panels = four (4) panel charges

CALCULATING DRAWER SIZES AND CHARGES

Single Drawer Charge A drawer less than or equal to 24”W x 12”H = one (1) drawer charge

Double Drawer Charge A drawer greater than 24”W x 12”H = two (2) drawer charges

Hickory Creek Cabinetry is proud to offer a wide variety of door and drawer head styles. In most cases, doors can be customized to satisfy customer needs. Because of our many options, dealer is required to completely fill out the door and drawer style section of the order. The cost of some popular door styles is included in the price of the cabinets and requires no door premium. The No Design Charge door styles can also be customized to fit customer’s needs.

WARPAGE

At Hickory Creek Cabinetry, we are very selective in the material that we use for doors. As set forth below, we follow industry guidelines for tolerances on allowable warpage per door size.

PAINTING WOOD DOORS

When painting solid wood doors, a joint line between stiles and rails can be expected. What appears to be a crack in the paint is typically due to the natural expansion and contraction of wood. A stile and rail meet with end grain bonded to edge grain. The natural properties of wood cause these opposing grains to expand and contract with environmental conditions. Hickory Creek prints this disclosure on all of its door sample labels and advises its dealers to educate their clients about this. The expansion and contraction of wood due to environmental moisture conditions may cause non-warranted defects such as the following: Open joints Stile and rail bowing Unfinished wood exposure on finished product Cracking Warping and twisting Sizing variations Excessive or insufficient spacing around pre-fitted frame Panel expansion or shrinkage Rails expanding past stiles

Hickory Creek Cabinetry uses Double Refined MDF for panels on painted doors, as well as drawer fronts. We also recommend using a veneered 3/8” MDF core for the panel on stained flat panels to minimize movement.
