L’allestimento di costumi storici è stato
curato dal Gruppo “La Mantigliana”, sot-
to il coordinamento di Addolorata Di
Cristofaro, ideatrice e realizzatrice dei
modelli in esposizione all’interno del no-
stro castello, tornato da poco sotto la
gestione del Comune di Castropignano
grazie a un protocollo di intesa sotto-
scritto dall’amministrazione comunale e
dalla Soprintendenza Archeologica, Bel-
le Arti e Paesaggio del Molise. Hanno
collaborato i Promotori del Parco delle
Morge Cenozoiche Roberto Colella e
Davide Vitiello e varie associazioni.
The earliest testimony of the presence of
man in the territory of Castropignano dates
back to the Bronze Age (1200 BC) ; consist
of fragments of ceramic, found in the area
of Castello D’Evoli. Near the “ Canton of
fairy” , however , fall into megalithic walls
( 4 th century BC ) in the period when the
Sannites fought against the Romans ,
remaining defeated after three wars.
On the facade of the chapel Santa Lucia , on
the other hand, there is a stone slab on
which the litter bundles are carved.
THE LEGEND OF “THE BEAUTIFUL FAIRY”
Long time ago lived in
Castropignano a beautiful
girl, nicknamed “The
beautiful faity”. She was in
love with a farmer called
Antonio; the two had
decided to get married.
Castropignano commanded a
Duke and was in effect the
low of the “IUS PRIMAE
NOCTIS”. The bride had to
spend the first night with the
Duke. The beautiful fairy escaped and, to
avoid being taken to the castle, she threw
herself from the rock near the castle calling
“Antonio.” Since then the rock is called
canton of fairy. It is said that, on full moon
nights you can
see the white
shadow fairy
who calls on
the name of
her lover.
