Departmental Achievements

2013-14 General performance of the department : Placement activities : 25 out of 73 students of current final years are placed until now. Since many companies yet to visit our campus, more number of students will be placed in coming months. Academic Performance: Mechatronics Engineering students were found to be good in all subjects. In many subjects 100% pass percentage were achieved in the recently announced results after the University Examinations Publication Details : The faculty of Mechatronics Engineering department guided the students to present the papers in conference & seminars, many of the students won prizes. Industry - Institute Activities : Department is giving consultancy services to Pricol industry, Coimbatore for Noise and Vibration. Our faculty members Mr. A. Ramkumar and Mr. T. suresh were sent to ABB India Ltd, Bangalore for an industrial training on Robotics during 15.10.2012 to 17.10.2012. Our faculty member Mr. A. Anush attended Conference on Automation “Key to

Manufacturing Excellence” organized by Confederation of Indian Industry(CII)

on 6th

September 2013.

Department Events : Department of Mechatronics organized a national level Three Days Robotics Workshop on “SIXTH SENSE + I-SENSO ARDUINO BOTZ” from 11-03-2013 to 13-03-2013. Department of Mechatronics organized an ISRO sponsored One Day National seminar On “RECENT ADVANCEMENT IN REMOTE SENSING IMAGE PROCESSING” on 16.04.2013. Department of Mechatronics organized Five days hands on workshop on “MECHATRONICS SYSTEM DESIGN USING LAB VIEW ” for final year and third year students conducted by National Instruments, Bangalore. Department Association was Inaugurated on 25th of July by Mr. Jason Samuel, Vice president-HR,TVS Motors, Hosur. One day workshop on “CNC programming and operation” using EDGECAM was conducted for third year students on 13.09.2013 by Kriatec Services Private Limited, Chennai. Two days workshop on “Embedded systems & Robotics” using PIC micro controller was for the Engineering students on 26.09.2013 & 27.09.2013 by GRT Embedded solutions Two days workshop on “Altair - Hyper works ” using hyper works software was conducted for the Engineering students on 26.09.2013 & 27.09.2013 by Altair Engineering India Private Ltd A Certification program on Auto Desk – Inventor and Altair – Hyper works has been arranged for the students . The training program will be conducted for 100 hours during after office hours. Infrastructure development: Department purchased DAQ during the month of June 2012 to enhance Micro processor and Micro controller lab facilities. Department purchased Processor Trainer kit during the month of August 2013 to enhance Micro processor and Micro controller lab facilities. Department imported Bruel & Kjaer Sound and vibration analyzer (Model :2270) for Instrumentation laboratory to effectively teach sound and vibration measurement and also involve in research. Student Participation: The Current Final year students Mr. M. Karthi and Mr. B. Dinesh secured the 1st and 9th place respectively in a National level optimization competition organized by Altair (AOC 2012). By winning this competition, Mr. M. Karthi got an opportunity for 2 months off-site internship at Whirlpool India . The current Final year students Mr. P. Yuva Balaji P and Mr. R. Gokul Nath participated in a national level design competition organized by Auto Desk India Ltd and the results are awaited. Our current final and third year students are participating in national level Automotive Design and fabrication competition ( Efficycle and Supra ) organized by SAE India.
