General Instructions to Candidates for

B.Ed. (Distance Education Mode) Entrance Test, 2018

1. The B.Ed. Selection Test will be held for 100 marks of 2½ hours duration. The breakup of marks

shall be as follows :–

(a) General Studies (50 marks) : In General Studies 50 objective type questions, each question

carrying 1 mark will be set up.

(b) Subject Area Specialization (25 marks) : In this part of the Test, 25 objective type questions,

each question carrying 1 mark will be set up.

(c) One essay type question of 25 marks.

2. Examinees are allowed to carry to their test centre their Admit Card only. No other paper or scrap

paper or book or notebook or slip-note or any electronic gadget or any other material is allowed to

be carried to the examination hail.

3. Any of the following actions by a candidate will disqualify him/her for admission to the B. Ed.

Course or to any other course of the University :–

(a) Tampering with Admit Card, including that of the photograph of the candidate scanned on it.

(b) Change of seat allotted to the candidate.

(c) Tampering with the seating arrangement in the examination hall.





(d) Smuggling out or smuggling in of the test booklet or answer in full or in part or any other test material in any form or using any resource or any help to indulge in malpractice in the entrance test.

(e) Using unfair means in the Admission Entrance Test, which shall include among others :–

(i) Keeping any unauthorized equipment, like, calculator, watch calculator, pen calculator, electronic diary, plain or written paper, mobile phone, watches with memory slides etc.

(ii) Passing on information and/or material through documents or indulging in communication of verbal or non-verbal nature or exchange of test booklet or answer to questions with others or causing nuisance or disturbance in the examination centre.

(iii) Writing any thing on the Admit card, Examination Desk or Table or Chair or on any part of the self’s body or clothes etc.

4. Any person found to impersonate a candidate shall be taken to be indulging in most heinous examination offence and the person so impersonating shall be immediately handed over to the police and an FIR shall also be lodged against him by the Centre Superintendent! University official.

5. The Test Booklet to be supplied to the examinees will consist of two parts i.e. Part-I and Part-II.

Part I will contain 50 objective type questions, each question carrying one mark and having four choices, of which only one choice corresponds to the correct answer. The examinee is expected to write the correct choice in the space provided for in the Test booklet. All fifty questions will have to be answered by the examinees.

Part-II of the Test Booklet will contain two sections, namely, A and B. Section ‘A’ is divided into Five Subject Areas i.e. Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, English and Hindi. From each subject area, 25 objective type questions, each carrying one mark and having four choices, will be set up. Every candidate will have to select a subject area of his/ her choice of specialization from out of the above five subject areas and answer all the 25 questions related to that subject area. Rest of the subject areas, he/she need not bother as he/she is not required to answer them. Section (B) of Part II of the test-Booklet will contain three subjective (essay) type questions. Each examinee will be required to select one topic from out of the three topics given in the Test Booklet and required to write an essay on it in English or Hindi in words not exceeding 1500. Essay type question carries 25 marks.

6. Answer to all objective type test questions are to be given in the prescribed place (box) in pencil only. In case any examinee thinks that he/she has wrongly answered any particular question and would, hence, like to change the answer, he/she can do so by erasing the earlier answer by a good eraser and, then, writing down the revised answer by pencil in the same box.

7. The essay-type question is to be written in ink only. Hence, the examinee should carry a good pencil and a good eraser with him, apart from an ink pen.

8. One sheet of blank .paper has been attached to each test booklet. The candidate may use it for doing rough work in solving the questions, whenever needed. The blank sheet is not to be separated from the test booklet and the booklet, along with the paper on which the rough work is done, is to be returned to the invigilator before leaving the test-hall.

9. Violation of any instruction given above will disqualify the candidate from the test and he/she shall be liable for punishment under the Conduct of Examination Act, 1981, apart from any other disciplinary action that the University may take against him/her.

10. Every candidate must follow the instructions given by the Centre Superintendent/ Invigilator at the test venue. Its violation will disqualify him! her from the test.

11. On the basis of the B.Ed. Selection Test, a merit-list will be drawn, out of which first five hundred candidates, as per their entitlement in various reservation categories, will be admitted to the B.Ed. programme. However, before a candidate is admitted, he/ she must satisfy:—





(a) That he/she has secured at least 50% (for reserved categories candidates 45%) marks at the Graduation examination and that other marks mentioned by him/ her in the B.Ed. Test Application Form for Matric, Intermediate and Post Graduate examinations are in accordance with his/her original Marksheets. For this purpose, he/She will have to produce the original mark-sheets of all the above mentioned examinations at the time of counselling. In case, any discrepancy is found, his/her candidature will be rejected forthwith.

(b) That he/she fulfills the prescribed teaching experience of atleast two years as on 31.05.2016 for Nalanda Open University candidate and as on 31.05.2018 for other Universities candidate and that the Teaching Experience Certificate submitted/mentioned by him is genuine and authentic and has been obtained from a recognized school(s). Should he/she be selected for admission to B.Ed. course, he/she will be required to produce all the original documents/ certificates at the time of counselling to prove that he/she had, in fact, the requisite teaching experience of two years, as on 31.05.2016 for Nalanda Open University and 31.05.2018 for other Universities, from a recognized School(s). It may be noted that only such teaching experience will be counted as has been acquired as a paid teacher from a recognized school in his/her capacity as a regular/temporary teacher. Teaching experience acquired as a non-paid teacher or in an honorary capacity or from a non recognized School or as an ad-hoc teacher will not be reckoned as requisite teaching experience. Hence, candidates are advised to produce only such certificate(s) of teaching experience (which they have acquired as a paid teacher from a recognized school(s). They are also advised to keep such Certificates in readiness as they will be required to produce the same at a very short notice at the time of the Counselling.

(c) That he/she was working as a paid teacher on the date he/she filed her application and that he/she is still serving as a paid teacher in a recognized school. To this extent also, the candidate will be required to produce a written testimonial at the time of Counselling from the head of the School where he/she is teaching, certifying his continuance as a paid teacher.

(d) The reserved category candidates will be required to produce the original caste certificate/ disability certificate at the time of the Counselling issued by the competent authority.

12. The date of Counselling will be communicated to the selected candidates separately by the University after the result of B.Ed. Selection Test has been finalized.

13. The University reserves the right to verify all the certificates/documents/ Marksheets etc; submitted by the candidates, from its own level to check their veracity. Should any document/Marksheet etc., submitted by a candidate, is found to be forged or false at any stage or should a candidate not satisfy any of the conditions listed above, his/her candidature will be rejected forthwith not withstanding his/her standing in the merit list of the B.Ed. Selection Test and the vacancy so caused will be offered to the next candidate in the merit list. The University may also take legal and other penal actions against the defaulting candidate for submitting false/forged or incorrect documents. Any fee etc. deposited by such candidates will also be forfeited and the concerned candidates will also be debarred from taking up any other programme of the University. Hence, all tile candidates are seriously advised that they should appear at the B.Ed. Selection Test only if they satisfy all the conditions listed above, otherwise their candidature will not be only cancelled, but they will also be put to legal and other penal actions. Candidates not fulfilling the prescribed conditions and banking on forged or bogus documents will have absolutely no chance of getting admitted to B.Ed. programme of this University. It is, therefore, better that they do not take risk to appear at the Test, lest they are caught in legal difficulties.

14. In no ease re-evaluation of the answer book is allowed.

15. Report at your examination centre on the date of examination, 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination. No candidate shall be allowed to appear in the examination after 10 minutes of the commencement of the said examination.
