First Announcement and Call for Papers

The Thirteenth East Asia-Paci�c Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction

The Thirteenth East Asia-Pacific Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction (EASEC-13) will be held on September 11-13, 2013 at Sapporo, Japan. The conference will be organized by Hokkaido University with the supporting organizations. EASEC was founded by Professor Fumio Nishino, and the first conference was held in Bangkok during January 15-17, 1986. Thereafter, the conference has been held in Thailand, China, Korea, Australia, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Indonesia. The objective of the conference is to provide a forum for professional structural and construction engineers and researchers to present recent progress in research and development, and to report implementation of new tools and technologies in practical applications.

Sapporo is the fifth-largest city in Japan by population, and it is the capital of

Hokkaido Prefecture. Sapporo is known outside Japan for hosting the 1972

Winter Olympics, the first ever held in Asia, and for the city's annual Sapporo

Snow Festival, which draws more than 2 million tourists from around the world.

Sapporo is one of the popular tourist attractions in Japan. Many historical

buildings, as well as shopping malls and parks, are located in Sapporo, and draw

many tourists in every year. For access from outside of Hokkaido, travel by air is

most common. The New Chitose airport is connected to a network of airports

throughout Japan and also to Seoul, Beijing, Shenyang, Dalian, Shanghai, Taipei,

Guam, and Hong Kong.

Location

The conference venue is School of Engineering, Hokkaido University. Hokkaido

University was originally founded in 1876 as Sapporo Agricultural College. The

university is known to have a beautiful campus with trees, springs, rivers and

historical buildings.

Venue

English is the official language in the conference. Papers are to be written and presented orally in English.

For authors who want to organize special sessions for the conference, please follow the instructions on the conference website. You can select a topic of your session within the scope of the conference. A typical session consists of one keynote paper and five regular papers.
